I cannot thank you enough for this recipe! I had tried cedarwood oil before but the dilution wasn’t right and it upset my cat, a lot. This recipe is amazing. Not only does it work, if used once a week, the cats don’t mind it that much. I used to be forced to use a chemical because the fleas were so bad.I am SO grateful to you, that is over! My cats have never shown any signs of being ill from it,btw. And, it will last forever!
Thanks!
When you described the symptoms claimed for cats about essentials, it was spot on, with the same reaction, my cat had to Advantage! I use clove and peppermint oil, for flea and tick killer/repellant on my dog, but needed information about safe oils for cats. You never disappoint Dr. Jones, thanks again!
Same here!!! I thought my cat was going to die in my arms. Evil stuff.
Advantage is only way I could keep my cat in the home. Nothing was working. Fleas in my bed ☹️ thank God for it!
You're welcome, I'm happy to help as much as I can.
Next time, try slathering coconut oil all over till they look wet!
I'm going to try the cedar wood concoction for my fur baby! As I don't like using spot on! Thank you ❤️
Thank you so much Dr. Jones, I have a cat, he has a lot of things going on like fleas, he won’t eat wet food, he has PTSD and a couple other things, I love that you know so much I trust you. God Bless you, I Glorify God for leading me to your Chanel… I look so forward to hearing all about your advice on cats.
I'm happy to help as much as I can:)
Killer suggestion about the cognitive dysfunction thing! I hope I retain that, if I ever need it.
okay i’m glad i found this video because i had used a lotion that was mixed with lavender essential oil and my cat licked it a couple hours after i applied it, i was freaking out and google kept telling me she was gonna die so this gave me peace of mind
Omg I feel so much better! I put one drop of lav. With water and coconut oil&put it on the soars from fleas, then read online how lav. Oil will kill cats etc... I've been freaking out.. tnx
I was just freaking out about using a few drops of Rosemary oil in coconut oil. I read it can kill them.
If mixing with water, a few drops of dawn or similar dish-soap help ensure the essential oils are evenly mixed. (Don't use more, because it's not needed and can be toxic to cats in high concentrations.)
The water-mixture is also good for misting household objects with essential oils where cats sleep and fleas may be present. I'd use the same mixture and concentrations (about 10 drops per half-cup) as to not make it overpowering, and make sure the smell doesn't bother you.
I just want to say THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH FOR BEING HONEST!!!!
Hi! i am almost finished with Aromatherapy school to be a Certified Aromatherapist. I came here to see what you had to say about cats. Your video was great and your recipes were safe. I have 2 cats and they love cedarwood. One suggestion for a future video…using hydrosols on cats and dogs. hydrosols are amazing! Thanks for the great video!
great to hear, thank you very much Mike!
Which type do you use?
HELP! I just put some tea tree oil w/castor on the nape of my cat's neck before seeing this-- what do I do??😫
I see that this is sometime ago. I hope that your cat is ok. The advice I got was to wash it off straight away.
Thank you Dr. Jones to talk about this topic! So much conflicted information out there and so confusing. I was going to request to talk about essential oil safety for cats on your webinar but now I don't have to! Thank you so much! Well, while I'm here, could you talk about spirulina/chlorella? Someone mentioned it helps for weight loss. I couldn't find any study or anyone else talking about this as a potential weight loss helper supplement but I'm curious if you have any experiences with it. Thank you so much again!
Oh I'm glad I saw THIS! I use a diffuser, and don't want to harm our new kitty.
I'll be making that flea recipe
I’ve always heard lavender is toxic for cats! Thank you as this is my favorite to diffuse.
I love my essential oils and I have only ever diffused lavender around my two cats. We are currently living full-time in a 8×27ft Travel Trailer and didn't want it to be too much.
thinking of giving and all our 4 cats flea / tick meds for months when they go outdoors in the warm season really stressed us out in the cost too. Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart. We will try all the great tips you said here. Amazing. You are a true blessing.
Mr Murray is getting quite sassy. My overweight Tuxedo (Mr. Moonshine) hasn't yet popped at me but he is letting me know he no longer likes being picked up or carried. If he comes inside when I whistle there isn't a problem. He usually does come quickly but sometimes he is enjoying his outdoor time and I have to lug him back inside so I can go to the store. He yeowls loudly and shifts alot but no scratches so far. If it didn't rain so often I'd just allow him to stay in the fenced backyard since he never goes beyond the fence. But I'm afraid I could come back to a soaked and unhappy boy. He doesn't realize how much I love and protect him. Lol
I resonate with you regarding my animals Good Health ❣️

Thank you! Quite shockingly, there are so many products on the market that are geared toward cats that I had an idea they were not safe. Sure enough its true . Like you said, Who do you believe? I believe YOU" : ) - Not Corp marketing products for $$$$ that do not care about my fur family. My cat violently throws up and gets diarrhea when I administer Pharma Topical Flea treatments... Never again!!! Keep up the great work!!
On his flea remedy, 1 cup of combined aloe vera gel and witch hazel with 20 drops of essential oils is a 0.42 dilution. Not enough. IF you want a 1% dilution you need 48 drops of EO, NOT 20 drops. Ive used EOs for over a decade, mostly daily, and make my own personal care products and topical medicine. Many get dilution rates wrong.
Thank you doc!!! I haven't used essential oil in years and absolutely love and miss it. Realise I can use cedar and lavender now thank you soooo much xxxx
I think they should put warnings on the products for this.
What about diffusing in a room the cat isn't going to be in though?
Could you please explain which purpose does skin astringent serve in the spray? And what can it be replaced with. Thank you for the video.
Hi Dr.Jones! Thank you so much for all the info. That you are giving to us!!! I really appreciate it! Do you know or can you talk about pet friendly candles?
Put together a natural simple flea remedy please...
Thank you for this. Can you recommend a recipe to use to actually kill fleas please?
this was super helpful thank you and its always great to see Murray I LOVE HIM❤️
Can we use them for cleaning floors ie eucalyptus or peppermint while the cat is in another room? Aka will low concentration of fumes be harmful?
Didn’t you previous recommend peppermint oil and green tea for teeth problems? I tried it yesterday and she hated it. lol
On the flea and tick spray - could you use another flea repellant essential oil like "rose geranium" instead of "cedarwood oil"?
Yes you can and other ingredients can be found on our site

thank you,@@VeterinarySecrets !
Thank you for this so very much. Now that I have inherent my sister's 2 cat's when she moved.
You're welcome, happy to help.
HI DR. JONES YOU CANNOT USE STEEL SPOON AND PLASTIC TOOLS FOR PURE ESSENTIAL OILS AND OF HONEY. INSTEAD USE GLASS, IVORY, PORCELAIN, WOODEN AND CERAMICS TOOLS.
What happens if you do??
Please address using essential oils in diffusers, or on a lamp ring.
And oils with dogs.
I'll look into that, thanks for the idea.
Thank you, Doc! I’ve learned so much from you. It has made me a better pet owner and my pets thank you, too.
You're welcome.
So you can still use lavender even though the internet all says it can be toxic to diffuse?
Will lavender oil also help cats with asthma? And thank you very much
I know for sure not to vaporize eucalyptus around your pets. I also use essences with them on treats and that sort of thing for anxiety et al. Love aloe juice, I usually just put that in water for them every once in awhile. My dog baby loves licking off the organic aloe gel when I put it on him for something so it doesn't last very long. Thanks for the info.
Thank you Dr Jones you are such a great vet love and blessings 💖💖💖💖🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕😺😺😺😺
Thanks for watching!

Which of the several types of cedar wood do you recommend? Or will any do?
Amazing video!!!!! Thanks, you little hero!
What if I want to use essential oils around cats dogs and other animals for that matter but not directly on them? Which ones would be safe to use around the house without having to worry?
For example if I wanted to use some essential oils in a mist on a pillow or furniture that they could come in contact with, or in a diffuser for my self but they'd be around as well.
@Dr Jones, Thank you very much for sharing this with us it's very useful and i learn about safety use of essentiel oil for cats.
Now i have a question for you wich essentiel oil can i use on my cat who is suffering of arthritis and arthrose at her hips . She is having trouble to walk and to sit. When she get down from my bed or the sofa she is in pain.
I dis see the vetenarien with my cat she did take a radiography of her hips and see some depot at her hips joints. She prescrire some pills that i mix with her food but that did not change anything in my cat condition.
I was wondering if i can have some recipe diy that can improve my cat condition ? Is frankincence sacra could be helping ? Can i mix it with lavender to reduce inflation ? Isvthere other kind of oil i can use to improve her conditions ?
Thank you very much for your kindness and your gentelness and your help and your kindness.
Do I have to use the aloe with the cedar oil and witch hazel! Can I use just water instead? Thank you
Are there any essential oils which cats would be put off by but not actually harmed by? if for example I wanted to Mark something is off limits by spritzing it with a mist of essential oil x so the cat will leave it alone.
doc need help, isnt witch hazel and aloe vera toxic to cats? especially them licking it? also isnt laverder oil toxic to cats? im so confused i need help
I want to use a natural essential oil remedy spray for my dog to repel fleas, but I also have a cat. I don’t want to use it on the cat but will the cat be OK to be around it on the dog? They are buddies and hang out together. Thanks in advance

Thank you for confirming that. I've been cautious with EOs for cats but now I'm going to add a drop or two to my neem oil diluted in coconut oil for fleas.
I have been using lavender and cedarwood in floor washing water for the last year and as a anti flea spray around the house.
Happy to help:)
Great video!
Is 100% pure cedarwood essential oil safe in a diffuser around a cat?
Thank you!!!!
Great information but still a little confused. My son has a cat he adores and he used to have a diffuser going through his house and I read or saw somewhere where Central Oils like that is highly toxic to cats. I informed my son and he got rid of his diffuser. Now I'm understanding that lavender is okay in a diffuser? Excuse me if I am wrong. I'm so glad you made a video about this Andrew, thank you 😘
It depends which oils, what kind of quality/purity and what kind of diffuser you use. I remember reading about a case where someone burned teatree oil in a regular diffuser and killed their dog. If you add a few drops to a humidifier tank, that is a very small amount and concentration.
@@iwona4685 what's the difference between a regular diffuser and a humidifier? Isn't a regular diffuser basically a mini humidifier?
@@bnp2bnp diffusers and humidifiers are two different types of devices. Diffusers are used for diffusing and don't humidify. Humidifiers have water container that is dispersed into the air and drops of oils can also be added with water.
@@iwona4685 I just purchased a diffuser, but the instructions say to fill with water and add a few essential oil drops to it. It also claims to humidify a room. Is this considered a mini humifier, then?
10 drops of EOs in a tablespoon of carrier oil is a 3% dilution. The rule is thumb is 1 drop of EO in 1 teaspoon of carrier oil is a 1% dilution. 2 drops in tsp is 2% etc. Dont go over 5%.

Can I add cedarwood oil to my mop water without cat health issues?
Dr. Andrew,
I am not receiving confirmation for the webinar.
Thank you,

It may have just taken some time to arrive, thank you for signing up!
Hi there dr Andrew jones can I use the thayers aloe Vera witch hazel I know alcohol is bad so I’m going to get the non alcohol one
Doctor how about neem oil ?
My 15 year old cat who had kidney disease for the last 2 years was found to have fluid in her lungs and chest cavity and we said "goodbye for now" as the vet said it points to either cancer or, I think it was heart disease...whatever the 2 ailments were it was clear to me it was time to let her go Home.
I just realized I've been using my humidifier nightly for about the past month with lavendar essential oils and fear this could have caused her lung situation. (Is fluid in the lungs considered pneumonia?)
There are articles online that say inhaling lavendar oil in this way can cause aspirational pneumonia.
Are you certain this wouldn't be the case?
Thank you for all of your excellent content. ✌️
I;m so sorry that you lost your cat. ❤
How about lemongrass oil,is it effective to kill flea ?
Just a few days ago I dumped my unopened lavender oils after reading how toxix to cats. I also was just about to order cedarwood oil to re-scent my cedar wood block that help deter moths. Again I read how toxic it was to cats.
Kinda surprised to see you using these oils after all I've been reading against them.
I guess you believe everything you read on the Internet. So much misinformation out there and then people and even vets just repeat what they heard or read and so it continues.
Chai'naMarie03 I know what you mean. Dr Jones has mentioned using them in previous videos. I wondered about it, but glad to know he feels they're (certain ones) safe after years of vet practice and personal experience.
@@invincibel4007 Those "certain ones" just happen to be the ones warned about.....in articles on the net about. I like this doctor and want to believe him, but has anyone watching this used these oils.
@@chainamarie03 I'd believe him. His advice is generally spot on. Just my opinion.
Oh NOOOOOO!!!!
Thank you very much Dr Jones, I will try the lavender with the diffuser in the living room as my cat keeps yowling. I have had her checked at the vet and she has cognitive dysfunction and is depressed...I'm sure the diffuser with lavender will help her. 😺👍
I need to know if it's safe to spray around where my cats eat? I don't want to use any type of insect spray, too divert ants. Or what else can I do?
Can you please tell about organic pine nut oil. Is it safe giving to cats? My friend uses it instead of fish oil for overall health benefit.
what do you think about rose potpurri ? is it safe
I do not have a cat can this also be used on dogs if not what can you use? Also does this work on tick's to?
Thank you 🙏 dr Jones
Great information thank you
You're welcome.
I use animaleo formulated by a vet in the US. Safe for pets and I also use the blends on myself
Thanks for the tip! Will check it out.

Thank you! I have only used essential oils for ear mites. I don’t remember the dilution or which oils, but it did work. Could you comment on that?
I use essential oils just for my room to smell good …. I have one that is potouili and citrus, then I have one that is mostly rosemary. I realized this might be bad for my cat and I’m nervous… not much on the internet talks about those though and it’s all about directly applying it to their cat. Can I keep using these oils?
What about when you use theses essential oils in a diffuser?
Murray is so cute!
He says thank you:)
Is it the same for dogs?
Im thinking flax oil will be good for indoor cats.
And help my grand kitty whos overweight.
Sorry, I havent listened to this yet
Thank you
When you say you use Aloe Vera Juice…do you mean ANY kind of aloe Vera juice? Thank you in advance doc
Can we do the same aloe juice and witch hazel with the lavender as a spray???
This was really helpful, I've been trying to get rid of fleas at home but I didn't know if it harm the cats. So I've been trying to find oils that fleas hate but are safe around cats. I don't spray them but I boil lavender liquid too to make my apartment smell good. So of I can use lavender thank you so much for the much needed info. But as to burn essential oil do I have to mix it with anything?
I suffer from sinusitis and was recommended an EO diffuser to put on at night. Most sinus targeted eo's have peppermint, is there another I can use so I won't hurt my cat? He prefers to sleep in my bed at night and I'd rather give back the diffuser I bought than have my kitty leave
What about castille soap with lavender?
Great info! Please make sure you use essential oils that are THERAPEUTIC GRADE only. This means they are tested by a third party to ensure purity. The price is worth it---need to know what you are getting and that it's okay to apply it to your pet. Examples of brands providing this quality of EOs: Doterra, Plant therapy.
Thanks for sharing a valuable the tip.

what about young living?
I bought a beaphar diffuser for cats that has valerian and lavandin (not lavender) it has a very sweet smell. Is this safe for cats?
Any chance you could review waggie which is a natural flea collar with essential oils. Not a lot of reviews online and it would be good to know from a vets perspective if it is safe and effective
question... idk if u mentioned it because i just paused to type this. but i noticed ur oil bottle says "Aroma" or something. i know what ur doing is not for ingestion, but since cats wash themselves up so much, people should know that some of these oils we see in the store are for use for fragrance only and shouldn't even be put on the skin, let alone ingested.
Like we can drink lavender Tea, lavender can be eaten, but check what yall buy and make sure its something edible
Going to try the flee spray , thank you so much
Let me know how it goes!

Any thoughts on blackseed oil ?
thank goodness for this video
Glad it's helpful:)
What about Jasmine essential oil? I read somewhere that they are safe for cats. Can you please tell?
Is this referring to defusing? Is it safe for me to use an oil defused in my home around my cats?
Thanks beautiful cat 💕💕
You're welcome:)
Hi, instead of Witch Hazel con I apply Thistle oil? Thank you!
really? i can use organic lavender around my cat with a diffuser? my son did research and said it was toxic for our kitty.
Why do most articles i read when researching say lavender is very toxic to cats but others and yourself say its ssfe? I personally havent have any bad results using lavender with my cats, but who do you believe?
I am looking for Essential Oils , to get rid of bugs , like ants , spiders etc . but don't want to kill my cat doing it . ( using Essential Oils to kill / get rid of bugs ) now what do I do ?
Dr Jones, can you please do a video on FIV? I'm debating on adopting an FIV+ cat and I don't trust my local vets. He is 5 years old and they just pumped him full of vaccines.
Can you use this spray on dogs
Why is my cat obsessed with eating grass & then throwing it up whenever I let him go into the backyard? That's all he wants to do is eat the grass! I switched him to 100% wet food diet, so I don't think his stomach is upset or anything. I heard that it could be a form of OCD anxiety. Is there anything effective for OCD behavior? He also over grooms himself.
My cat also is obsessed with grass. He will eat till he throws up or I hover over him to prevent him eatting too much. He has severe food allergies that started when he was a kitten. I wondered if that has anything to do with his obsession with grass. He also is obsessed with phone cords & hoodie ties but not shoe laces, weird. So maybe just an obsession is with chewy tendril shaped things. Do you know if your cat has food issues? Or flea allergies? I think mine is allergic to both.
I just want to put a diffuser in the kitchen, not put anything on my cat... is this going to be safe?
I was just wondering about something. Are pet wipes safe for cats?
Hi , is there any best essential oil for cats sinus allergy ?
My cat and my sister’s (we are neighbors) all have a kind of rash of hard bumps on their skin. Any idea what that could be ? They eat the same food, but stay outside a lot
Hi is neem oil safe for cats ?
Is it okay to bathe our cat's eyes in warm saline water (pinch of salt in half a cup of water) please? I think our cat could do with this every second or third day, but my 94 yr old mother is dead against it. (Sometimes she's right about things; other times she's just fruity. But she has me worried.)
Saline should be fine, I wouldn't overdo the amount of salt... and only use a good quality sea salt. I use it for just about anything and everything.
@@kymbyrly Thank you so much, Kim. Your advice is so appreciated.
