Super video, thank you. The accessibility of knitting is what keeps it at the very top of my list of hobbies; its a quiet activity, not messy, don't need to put on old clothes to do it, is portable so can take on vacation; that's when i have lots of free time, wool is a natural product so that scraps and projects that don't work out can go into the compost heap and return to the Earth. All of these characteristics make me love knitting. And your knitting podcasts grow my enjoyment even more. Glad tidings to you for 2025!
I tried the trick of putting a sticky yarn into the freezer before I frogged. Worked like a dream. I had to frog an entire sleeve of stick to itself suri alpaca. I had very few spots where I had to fight with it. I worried as the sweater warmed that it would be difficult again but the cold chill just seems to calm it down.
similarly, i also dont set new years resolutions. instead, my mom and i choose a word of the year to live by for the year! my word for 2024 was “savor” because i wanted to get back in touch with my hobbies and savor every moment :)
That hood is everything! 1. Gorgeous Creamsicle orange color - great to see you working with color. 2. Appreciate the accessory knitting a lot. As a mostly accessory knitter, I love these projects. 3. I also appreciate seeing you work with premium materials and with hand dyed yarns. Will be interesting to see how often you reacn for this hood!
Clover split ring markers are my go to stitch markers. I find they are secure enough to stay on a stitch or a cord without an extra step of unlock/lock step but you can also remove at any time if need to.
yes, You should be able to reblock the hood. Also you can re-skein and wet the frogged brown yarns, to relax those squiggles from the yarn “that’s been through something.” You don’t have to reknit it like that. Everything’s looking good, thanks for another fun video!! 🎉. You are so smart, fun and charismatic!
Yes! Lightbulb stitch markers are my pet peeve! My favourite stitch markers are round silicone but Clover makes a set of closeable stitch markers that are tiny and lightweight but don't get pinched onto the needle
Colorwork is my #yesIcan for 2025. I have been knitting for a long time and never ventured beyond mosaic knitting! But I am feeling ready, and I think I’ll try it in a summer garment, the Misurina t-shirt has a pretty floral design around the yoke. And what I’d like to see more of on your channel is the way you go about planning a garment. You really have some 3D design skills to find a thrifted yarn and plan a beautiful sweater based on a pattern for a very diffferent yarn! And your knits always turn out so stylish! Please tell us more! 🌟
As far as round stitch markers, I use Boye jumbo stitch markers. They are flexible plastic and open and close. And for making a pattern from a book, I would just make a copy so you can write on it. I like to do that even for booklets because if I carry it around with me it just gets worn out. I'm very excited for the Granada with the crochet sleeves and the Saven sweater for your dad.
I think the online knitting community is mostly to thank for my sustained interest in knitting. Watching other people obsess about knitting makes me want to knit. I have never had another hobby consume me like knitting has.
Hey Nora, thank you for another very enjoyable episode. And #yesican knit the melides dress for summer next year Keep doing this amazing content and have a wonderful Christmas!
Yes there are removable round stitch markers but just get small/medium round ones-you can always use your light-bulb ones when you want to attach/detach them to a particular stitch, and use the round ones when you just want them to run on the needles. Only get large ones if you plan on using large needles-otherwise they’re annoying in a “normal” fabric if they’re too big.
I would have definitely crashed out ripping back that dress. Great job on the save! My #yesIcan is the Lumme colorwork sweater by Sari Nordlund. I’m an Aries like you and I’m pretty fearless with things😂
Yess another episode to start off the weekend 🎉 #yesican !!! My pattern is the Moby sweater, I've seen it so many times and the cables are intimidating but I am ready for it 😎
That looks like such a nice sweater for your dad. My dad is knit worthy too ☺ He asked for a cardigan, and I'm knitting it for him now. I love your hood. I'd love to make something like that for myself. I would probably try to incorporate a proper scarf into it too. Happy Christmas to you and your family, and little Osi, of course, from me and my Elsie ❤
Hi Nora, I’ve been knitting about as long as you have and I’m nowhere near at your level. You’re so good at reading patterns and being able to “hack” them to suit your needs (like the sweater for your sister). Kudos to you! I’d like to be able to knit the Ranunculus in a lightweight yarn for spring/summer. Fingers crossed! #YESICAN
For knitting from a book: there are colorful sticky strips that are see through - like removable highlighter post-its. They're invaluable for following charts and reporting track of what step you're on without marking in the book!
❤️❤️ 2025 has got to be the year of a color-work yoke. The Celeste Sweater by Petitknit looks like the most “adult” of them and that’s what I’d pick to knit. I grew up where/(when) color work yokes were really just for school girls and I’ve spend my 4 knitting years knitting other sweaters. It’s time. #yesican
I love that you fixed your grayling sweater and are happy with it! #yesican I've been looking at colorwork sweaters and do ewe yoke looks so amazing! I'm intimidated by the fingering weight and all the stitches, but it's so beautiful! I think it would be a good one to splurge on the contrast color being a hand dyed long color change yarn.
I make a copy of the pattern. Slip in a sheet protector and use as a bookmark. Advantages are you can make notes on copy as well as slips in a project bag to carry with you.
I just love how you dive into a project and do the math and make it look so good. So I am going to dive into a project and say #YesICan to the Colinet Cardigan by Jennifer Beale. Happy Knitting!
The Thistleback by Carol Sunday is a pattern I have been considering. The colourwork is beautiful and I have never done an all over colourwork pattern before. Your sweater dress is delightful and you can always wear it with a belt if it grows too much. Love all your knits!
I also call it "Jose" as in Jose Feliciano. In Wild Knitting podcast, I noticed Martina called it with J. After seeing this on your channel, I purchased the pattern and I can't wait to knit it. Yours came out so nice! For #yesican project I want to knit but not sure, it is Book Club Cardigan by Sari Nordlun. It seems like a massive undertaking but I really want to knit it someday....
Yahoo it’s Nora time!!! #YESICAN Well how about that Saven! As long as I am doing the Menton 1 for myself I might as well do 3 sweaters for my so deserving sons!
With book patterns, I photo copy the pattern and use that, then it's easier to take it with me in my knitting bag. You are brave and wise making those adjustments on the Grayling. Merry Christmas.
Its the community for me in knitting. Yes so many different techniques to learn even primarily garment knitting. A portable hobby. #yesican all of the lights cardigan
Love the episode, so cool to see the contrast between the blocked and unblocked cables! I would love to knit the Olivier Vest by Emily Y Chen in 2024. It's not so much the knitting as the construction of it that really inspires but also intimidates me a little. But #YESICAN !
I think the adjustments you made with the knits and purls on the side will probably end up being more flattering to your shape then big, bulky cables. It will come in around your waist. Good call! Can't wait to see it finished.
Hi Nora, I’ve swatched for the Lauder cardigan and read through the pattern last night and was feeling really down about the shaping! It’ll be my first time knitting a drop shoulder construction and increasing in cables, so it feels very overwhelming. I keep reminding myself of something you’ve said before, that this hard part is only a small part of the pattern, after I get through it the rest should be a piece of cake. 🎉 Another pattern I’d love to knit this year but am “scared” of is the Oolong Tank by Aimee because I’ve never knit lace!. #yesican
I have been seeing My Jose cowl and was Meh about it until your presentation. I will now buy the pattern. I live in coastal NC and we have very few days in winter that would justify this much coverage. But having it on hand for those days will be nice. #yesican project would be my dream project of a cabled sweater…..I really love the Beatrix sweater.
I tried cables once, and it was tedious. I think the yarn was part of the problem, but I haven’t gone back yet. I would like to try the Dirty Chai Pullover by Meghan Babin so I can practice one type of cable and still come out with a beautiful garment at the end of it. Either that or The Aisling Hat by Aunt Janet’s Designs to get something on a smaller scale. Thank you for your videos as a relatively new knitter. I’m only in my 3rd year, and your willingness to experiment and deal with challenges, whether in patterns or in measurements or mistakes made, gives many of us newbs the confidence to try new things. #yesican
Hey Nora, on what I'd like to see from you in the new year: I'd love yo see how/if you plan out your knits or knitting time. With multiple projects on the needles, how do you decide what to work on, when? Also, with a deadline knit, how do you decide to break up the large project? I struggle with all of this so I'd love to see what you do. Similar to knitty natty's planning videos. Except, however you do it because I love seeing how other people do these things.
Hi Nora I am curretnly knitting on the my Jose hood and it is more work than I espected as well ;-) I would love to try to knit the Terracotta sweater from Lene Holme Samsøe. I also started knitting two years ago and also decided to film my journey as well. I find that you are a very talented knitter! Wish you and your loved ones lovely holidays and a magical 2025! X Julia
Love the Jose Hood! I think I may make one for my sister and my niece. They would definitely use it living in southern Germany. My #yesican is the Jenny Jacket V neck from Petite Knit.
On your other two questions. I have knit from books a lot. I tend to copy the pattern so that I don’t have to mark up the book. As far as round or other type stitch markers, there are a lot out there. I use ones from Clover (plastic or Cocoknits metal ones. Hope this helps. Have a wonderful Christmas Holiday.
So so smart! I don’t know why I didn’t even consider doing that! Thank you!! I so appreciate the stitch marker recommendations too-thank you so much. Merry Christmas to you!
I love your channel and you make me want to be more adventurous with my knitting. My #YESICAN is the Crossroads pullover by Joanna Ang. Have never knitted cables sideways and the construction looks so different to anything I have ever knitted
I really want to make the Little Squares Knitted Blanket by Julie Harrison in 2025. It is not a super challenging project in terms of technique, but I am still very intimidated to start it because of the sheer size of it. That feels really daunting! #yesican I am looking forward to seeing your dad’s sweater come to life over the coming weeks! Merry Christmas!
I'm more into colour work than cabels but will have a go one day, my #YESICAN is Mosaic Carpet Project Bag by Marie Wallin that I would love to try. Your jumper and jacket go so well together. Thank you for such a fun podcast. Merry Christmas and all the very best for 2025 😍
For your Jose Hood, if you wanted to wear it open, you could use a shoe lace barrel knot on your ties to get them a more manageable length. For my #yesican... I have been eyeballing the Around the World Sweater to use up some of my Knit Picks Palette stash for a couple of years now. I think I have hesitated because it does not have short rows in the back neck and I will want to try to figure out how to get them incorporated without disrupting the colorwork.
For future projects, check out Rosemary (Romi) Hill for lace shawls, she's amazing. I like her Falderal shawl. She includes a thoughtful section on the concept behind the shawl, and a lot of video tutrials to support that particular design, as it was a MKAL a year ago. And for colorwork, check out Stephen West's Aurora Cabin series. Uses mosaic knitting, and so many marvelous stitches. Color combinations are endless, as you will see from other's projects. Great support videos here too. Also his MKAL from this year, Go Go Dynamo. That one plus Falderal both have interesting construction. Hope you like them!
For the book pattern, pick yourself up some of the translucent post it notes! They are my favorite and you can see through them to the pattern so it's just like taking notes in the book.
#yesican I would love to make the Culm sweater! I’m not too worried about having the skills for it but the idea of knitting a whole fingering weight sweater feels daunting 😂
Oh good...Nora's here and is my very happy excuse to set my The Pop hood/dickie combo down just as I was about to start picking up stitches from the side edge (I hate picking up!). 🤣
My ambitious knit is the Agave by Tricot Design MCL. It’s 2 things I’ve never done before. A set in sleeve pattern and also fingering by weight 😮. I used to be an Aran only girl, then I tried some DK patterns and liked the lighter weight. This year I bought my first fingering weight yarn and made a hat with it and it wasn’t so bad. But I do hear so many people saying a fingering top takes forever so I’m a little scared but you know what #yesican 😂
That dad sweater will be gorgeous. I came to say looks like lifelines will be your friend and as I typed, you said you will be relying on lifelines. So guess we think alike. Good luck.
#yesican It's a toss up between learning how to steek (possibly a cardigan) or knitting something that requires installing a hardware (i.e. zipper), but I'm leaning towards the half-zip Ginger Zip sweater by Joan Ho
Love your podcast and all of the graphics. #YESICAN I want to make the Monday Sweater by PetiteKnit. I think I can make it, but the key is getting the fit right! I actually already have the yarn for this sweater, but have not purchased the pattern yet. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season.
Sitting here watching this as I literally have 2 jars with hot water and yarn wrapped around it so that it gets ironed out... 😅 Perhaps it could help with the yarn you ripped out from your Greyling sweater, if you do end up needing to use it.
When knitting from a book I use my notes app on my iPhone and scan the pages and knit from there. That way I can make notes and the pattern is always with me. 😊
My #yesican knit would be the Book Club Cardigan by Sari Nordland. I had such a rough time knitting cardigans when I first started knitting. My tension was somehow so different at the beginning and end of a row that one side was always significantly longer by the time I finished so I gave up but I think I'm ready to give cardigans another try!
Love seeing your progress on your knits! I've used Valley Yarns Northampton before and when I blocked my project it stretched a lot. Just wanted to let you know so you could keep that in mind. My #YESICAN for 2025 is the Arctic Light Sweater by Veronika Lindberg. I recently got into cables but the Arctic Light Sweater is still a bit intimidating.
#YesICan. I keep looking at the Book Club Cardigan by Sari Nordlund but ooooh my goodness the amount of cables on that one. It's so beautiful. And kind of scary!
Thanks for the heads up on Meghan Babin’s designs. I am smitten with Eisley. Not a fan of bottom up but this is a beautiful interesting design. This may be my #yesican
Hi Nora. Try wetting it, get out all the water and put it in the dryer u see delicate and CHECK IT every five minutes. I think if you used a much heavier wool the hood would have stood up better to frame your face. I love your daring and adventurous nature when knitting. Diane from Boston
I saw a woman on RUclips take a bunch of ripped out yarn and stream it to get the kinks out. I feel like it was just in a loop and she held her steam iron over it. The yarn started moving like it was alive and straightened out. Was it video magic? Idk, but worth a try. #yesIcan make the Betty vest by Helle Siggerud. Merry Christmas, Nora! Thanks for a fun year!
MY #YESICAN would be Andrea Mowry’s Pink Fizz. Love her patterns Your work is always exciting to watch. The fact that your not afraid to take chances and change things is exciting Merry Christmas
#yesican the pattern I want to make but have been too intimidated to make is the Spark Cardigan by Andrea Mowry …I’m not great at colorwork, and I want to tackle steaking! I even bought the pattern so I can just read and watch tutorials and do research so I can familiarize myself with all the things to have a successful knitting adventure!!! My goal for 2025 will be to knit Spark, or at least work on colorwork and try steaking🥰
Round markers move more easily but they are more difficult to work around and not create a stretched spot that can show up a lot. Just from my experience.
my #yesican for 2025 is the Eurus Sweater by Aegyo Knit. I have been mesmerized since I first saw a picture of the sweater - never thought I could knit it myself. 2025 is the year I try!
For the pattern from the book, just make a copy of the pages on your printer. You are allowed to do this under Copyright law for your own personal use. #yesican the Moby sweater by PetiteKnits.
My #YESICAN project is the Haraboji cardigan by Aegyo knit ! I love the look of it but I'm intimidated by the construction (sleeve to sleeve)... But it will be on my needles in 2025!
Ooh, your Jose Hood looks great! I really liked that pattern. #pattern The Stag Head Pullover by Knitalina 🧶 🦌is the project I’m most intimidated by, but keeps me motivated to learn! Happy Holidays and Happy New Year 🎉thanks so much, Nora. 🤍
My #YESICAN pattern is the Twist Loop Collar by Other Loops. I am an advanced beginner knitter and would feel good about my progress completing it. Thanks for the opportunity Nora. Merry Christmas 🎅
Little Scorpion by Courtney Little is my roman empire! I've never done color work knitting but keep trying to convince myself that I can probably do this - I might be in delulu land 😅 #YESICAN
#YESICAN I have always wanted to attempt steeking, but have been terrified! So, the pattern I'd love to try is the Lina cardigan, by Kristin Drysdale 😊
I think what you bring to the community is a fun fresh sharing learning teaching hour that we look forward to. If I need detailed instructions on how to do something or how to fix it for years I have gone to Roxanne Richardson, and most recently Nicole from Knicoleknowsknitting. But you are who I go to when I want to be inspired and to relax. I love the way you explain how you do each project and how you feel about the results. You’re fun and cute and funny. #YESICAN Azucena Pullover by Claudia Quintanilla
There's been a few patterns I like with zippers but haven't gone for - since anything sewing related intimidates the heck out of me (thank you to my mean schoolteacher who relentlessly told me I was clumsy and stupid for that!). But, thing is I know I can do it #YESICAN so I would love to give Gabriella's Big Way by by Denise Hebner a go.
Hi! So nice to see you again ❤ Ripping back that dress and redoing it was definitely the best choice, it looks perfect now and will probably take less time overall. I’m making a cardigan for my daughter in law and I keep ripping out and reknitting various parts because I want it to be perfect. I now have one cuff left and I’m “done”…. Will need to block, weave in the ends and add the vintage shell buttons … and then I’ll really be done. I showed my husband the sweater pattern you’re knitting your dad and he said he liked it, but he still likes the pattern I’ve knit him four times already better… good to know since I’ve been knitting him one in secret for Xmas 😂. Last year I remember thinking I would never knit a blanket but now I’m like #YESICAN and am really liking the Arctic Bloom - Snowflake by Anke Wintermans. Merry Christmas 🎄
Tip! Use a 2mm needle, insert the end into the tubing & then you can transfer stitches faster with the tubing
Brilliant, I will try that!
PS the rhythm and results of knitting Brioche are just delightful. I started with a two-color brioche cowl and absolutely fell in love with it.

Well thank you so much!! It’s so true-the portability factor alone makes it that much more enjoyable! I wish you lots of knitting time in 2025!

The My Jose Hood looks SOOOO cute on you. You inspired me to purchase the pattern.

I was thinking of this sweater last week! I love your Lykke sweater, Nora! ❤

Hello!! I love this idea. I can definitely share more of this side of knitting! Thanks so much for the suggestion!
@akaNoraKnits you're so welcome! I look forward to what you have to say! Thanks for your videos, you're a joy to knit with.
# Yes I can. Sweater / by Annarkiv . Hoping to tackle this one ! Also love the color of the Jose hood .Another fun podcast.

Hey Nora! I use Cocoknits split ring stitch markers for. They are removable but round for ease of transferring across my needles.

Oooh that sounds fun!!!
Hahaha yayy! Time to just get it done!! Happy to keep you company ☺️
#yesican I want to try my hand at the Lindal cardigan. I think I can knit it though it looks complicated.
My ambitious knit is the Agave
by Tricot Design MCL.
Good luck.
Love your videos 😍 now i want to knit the Jose as well 😍 so inspiring!
My #yesican project is the Storm sweater by petiteknit ❤
I’m glad you got your dress figured out. #yesicsn the Javelin pullover by Teti Lutsak
You are such an inspiration for me the new knitter. The #YESICAN project I am avoiding is the Savoy Truffle Sweater.
my #yesican is Rebecca Clovs Lanark Sweater🙈 your podcast is one of my alltime favorits
So good to know!! I’m glad I’m taking the time to swatch and block!!
Wishing you the best Christmas!!!! I hope to one day do the artic pullover by Veronica Lindberg #yay
That one is such a stunner!!
WhaaaaT?! Okay I must give this a try! I’ll have to check out that Betty vest! Merry Christmas and thanks for being here 🥰
MY #YESICAN would be Andrea Mowry’s Pink Fizz. Love her patterns
Your work is always exciting to watch. The fact that your not afraid to take chances and change things is exciting
Merry Christmas
I have yet to try Andrea mowry patterns!! I’ll have to add that to my goals for 2025! Thank you so so much 🥰
I love the Minto sweater #pattern ❤
#yesican the pattern I want to make but have been too intimidated to make is the Spark Cardigan by Andrea Mowry …I’m not great at colorwork, and I want to tackle steaking! I even bought the pattern so I can just read and watch tutorials and do research so I can familiarize myself with all the things to have a successful knitting adventure!!! My goal for 2025 will be to knit Spark, or at least work on colorwork and try steaking🥰
Round markers move more easily but they are more difficult to work around and not create a stretched spot that can show up a lot. Just from my experience.
Love this! And for #yesican I would knit the cardi cocoon by Anne ventzel! Thank you!
My #yesican is the Nia Sweater by Irene Lin. Cables and Lace together freaks me out a bit but it looks so pretty! Happy Holidays!
my #yesican for 2025 is the Eurus Sweater by Aegyo Knit. I have been mesmerized since I first saw a picture of the sweater - never thought I could knit it myself. 2025 is the year I try!
#yesican I really want to knit Yerra Nova by Jennifer Beale, I've had the yarn for over a year but I'm too intimidated to start it!
I've been working up my sweater skills so that I can make the Ambah O'Brien Celestia Pullover for myself. #yesican
For the pattern from the book, just make a copy of the pages on your printer. You are allowed to do this under Copyright law for your own personal use. #yesican the Moby sweater by PetiteKnits.
My #yesican is the Porter from Hudson + West to make for my husband.
My #YESICAN project is the Haraboji cardigan by Aegyo knit ! I love the look of it but I'm intimidated by the construction (sleeve to sleeve)... But it will be on my needles in 2025!
Nora have you thought of spinning as an avenue to go down in 2025. Merry Christmas 🎉
Yes I can!
Thank you so much for such a happy podcast and happy podcaster! And your holiday decorations - WOW! 😮
#yesican knit the Lykke sweater. Knitting with Suzanne Bryan has videos on reclaiming yarn
Ooh good to know!! Thank you!
I would make a photo copy of the pattern from the book so that I can write and use a highlight marker on the copy and not on the book.
The Emery sweater#yesIcan
I’m pondering Creabea “Lauder”Sweater, am I ready?..
#YesIcan……What has happen to your coat you were making?
Photocopy the patten then you can write on it all you want
