    You're not weak. You just still had some sanity left to realise that you had to leave.

      Yeah, I guess I struggle with the fact that I couldn't find a way to compartmentalize and walk away not feeling like shit.

      The nudge I need to thank you (me recently quitting p vs p after about 2 odd years)

    I experienced these exact moments just like you. I was playing stuff like Heroes of the storm and it just makes me toxic and angry. I think I always have this toxic side inside of me and I don't blame it on games, but it's these competitive games that get these toxicity out, letting it affect my mental health. Eventually I came to the conclusion that PVP games are just zero-sum or even negative-sum: if there's a winner there will be a loser, and for me the frustration and rage that comes out of losing just outweight the joy of winning.

      Haha, HoTS was designed to be a LESS toxic set of gameplay elements (shared XP, etc.), but it was actually MORE toxic for me because it's impossible to solo outfarm/out-xp your/their team and carry the game by yourself and ONE PERSON not showing up for objectives just lets the other team snowball.

    There is that moment where a videogame transitions from being a game to being a chore and for me that happens once I start to min-max. That is very persistance throughout online-pvp though. You have to play along the optimal strategies to get any wins out of the game and this at the same time leads to enjoyment (from the wins) and dissatisfication (from the pressure). Thanks for addressing the aspect of having to relearn playing games, I guess that is what I need to do now.

      Hey, friend. It's not easy to relearn, it was a long journey, and I relapsed a LOT along the way - but I'm happy where I am, and I hope you can find a place (wherever they may be) that you can find enjoyment, as well. It look a LOT of introspection and asking myself daily, "how is this making me feel?" - especially when I log off, and the consistency of the answer to that question motivated me, because the answer was almost always, "not great". So, then it's like, "why am I doing it?"

    The way I love to word it in gaming “you can do it, if you WANT IT ENOUGH” (i put the key part in upper case) what I mean by it is when someone moves on from it before completing a goal or something especially in minor things like gaming, you don’t question their effort or wil power maybe they are planning to use that energy for something else , if they do not get it after trying and decide to stop trying they simply did not want it enough
    This is not to take credit from gamers who pushed through but I just wonder how many gamers have kept going and got it but regretted it due to not really wanting to do it but didn’t want to be deemed a quitter , it the same with anything minor in life , normalising quitting after you have accessed the reward is not worth the effort will help encourage others to try new things

    I always played “sandbox colony” games like rimworld it’s addictive and never ending

      Yep, sandbox city builders with automation tickle my brain just right. Kenshi is like this as well once I get a city up and running.

    Tbh I've kinda left multiplayer mostly due to toxicity of other players, if the games gives me the opportunity of doing everything alone I'll go alone unless a friend comes with me. In other part is because of the game becoming something else that i didn't pay for like R6S. Between those 2 things is just really difficult to come back and re take everything like nothing happened.

    • @TheWorldOfKilladrix
      @TheWorldOfKilladrix  Год назад +1

      Yes, this EXACTLY. I went through a period of "quitting" where I would occasionally relapse and redownload a game like League of Legends for a game or two just to be stuck in a game with a bunch of trolls or blowhards and it's just so miserable being held hostage by toxic players.

    I used to play pvp because it used to be fun for me, but now it's not as desirable. I used to be decent but not as much any more. I think it's because I lost interest after a certain point and would stop playing pvp for days or even weeks, come back still disinterested in the repetitiveness and be rusty. It's not a fun head space to be in.
    I'd rather challenge myself in single player games, like achievement hunting or 100%s

    • @TheWorldOfKilladrix
      @TheWorldOfKilladrix  Год назад +1

      No shame in single player games or achievements. I WISH I had more time to achievement hunt honestly. The only 3 games I've 100% are Bloodborne, Dark Souls 3 and Ghosts of Tsushima - because I loved them all. I'd love to find time to 100% Elden Ring, the Horizon Zero Dawn games, and the God of War games.

    • @signout932
      @signout932 6 месяцев назад

      Not keen on achievement hunting myself , it’s given me worst rage than any multi player , but I am kind of in the same mind set with p vs p
      I generally like endless modes with randomised spawns(even if it makes unfair fights sometimes like if I lose I don’t have to fight that same unfair fight again I get another free randomised fight after I restart , there is no puzzle to solve you just kill stuff until you lose, and when you lose and you will (no end no way to win) it restarts and again it’s randomised so it doesn’t feel like you are starting over again (the dreaded load check point)

    Similar story for me. Videogames are meant to be fun and enjoyable. The second they are not, it's time to put them down

      @TheWorldOfKilladrix  Год назад +3

      Yes, of course it isn’t. Not sure if you watched the video, but I explained that the reason I currently play single player games (such as RimWorld) is because of the reasons I gave in the video.

    Apex Legends, CoD, and League of Legends being competitive is funny and absurd. Those games do not have the depth nor compeitive integrity to be worthy to hold competition.
    Let Fighting Games, Quake, and Starcarft be the only video games to have competition and eSports.

    • @TheWorldOfKilladrix

      I’ve got no dog in the race but it’s kinda strange to gatekeep the word “competitive” when discussing games where players are [checks notes] competing against one another?

    • @ncrtrooperscout
      @ncrtrooperscout 3 месяца назад

      @TheWorldOfKilladrix Communites of different competitive games, even if they are in the same genre, compete for player numbers to maintain a legitimate competitive orbit. No players or lack of players means no high-stakes competition.
      I wouldn't say it is elitism or gatekeeping but more like tribalism.
      For example, Fighting Game Community vs. Smash Bros. Community. Both camps disagree with each others gameplay philosophies and vy for the attention of hardcore competitive players, or players in general, to join their competitive scene over the other one, which can help make tournaments for their game more prestigious and increase prize money for the those who succeed in those tournaments.
      Not competing for player base can result in a scene seeing no more competition. Like how Tekken wiped the floor boards of 3D Fighting Games where the remaining competitive players of Soul Caliber and Virtua Fighter would have to leave Fighting Games all together or migrate to Tekken or 2D Fighting Games.
