This is so so sick. I've been heading more into a 'Dual FX Processor' for my eurorack, but I really wanna get back to using Bitwig for live stuff with it.
That’s a good way to go for sure. I want more fx in the rack. Check out how glitch mob plays. Great example of a hardware fx box. Also, the new 4ms catalyst controller is epic for an fx system
Fantastic stuff, Alex! Really liked this, high quality house, great attitude. And yes please record the set for us. Techno was great too, more of that as well please. You’re inspiring me to do more music at the moment, which I’m really enjoying, so thanks for that! Keep up the good work
Alex, thanks so much for the rundown! How do you deal with latency when using Bitwig as effects processor for the modular for short time based effects (like frequency shifter, phaser, flanger)...effects that rely on original and effected signal being under 20ms apart, but your Bitwig audio buffer is probably around 5-15ms?
I honestly haven’t done much with those types of effects but the latency is great and the compensation they have in clicks and hardware instruments make it really easy to dial in to where I don’t thing that would be an issue.
Thank you for videos, do you feel a little bit of latency when you trigger Midi from Bitwig to an External Hardware synth compared to CV to say Assima8or from Bitwig? Also do you think it is tighter to send CV clock out to external gear or Midi clock, with ES-8 you get 8 CV outs and sometimes a midi makes sense to keep the system small. Thank you.
The hardware instruments in bitwig feel really tight to me. They have a button that you click and then it triggers the external synth, measures the time it takes to hear the audio from it, then adjusts the latency accordingly. That is super helpful. I prefer using the clock out of ES9 if I can for sure. If I'm going to use MIDI, then I want an external thing to keep everything together like the Circuit Happy Missing Link, which I love as well.
Holy shit, this is epic!! I love how outstanding your mix is while making the commentary sound like we stroll through a park together 😄 Do you ever perform live? If so, please come to Amsterdam 🙌
Thanks so much! Yeah I play live a ton. I played in my duo with Trovarsi at ADE last year with Analog Kitchen and an amazing crew! I hope to come back soon, but not sure about ADE this year.
I used Bitwig for a few years and then went back to Ableton when the Launchpad Mk3 came out because I loved that thing and Bitwig didn't support it. They announced Novation comaptibility last year at some point so I opened it up again and then ended up getting back into the upgrade path. Personally, I think the hardware implimentation is easier and better. Also, Hybrid tracks are sick, although I dont use them a ton, I love that I can put an audio track on a midi track. next plus is that I love noodling in the grid and making up module ideas inside of there and then controlling them with CV so they feel like they are a part of the system. I still use Ableton for certain production things but for live performance, I have just really enjoyed everything Bitwig has to offer. (sorry for writing a book here)
Oh wow! I didn’t realize Novation added native launchpad pro mk3 support for bitwig! I actually stayed with ableton just because of proper Launchpad/launch control functionality. I will definitely get back into bitwig, as i use an es-8/es-6 combo, and i agree that bitwig is better with eurorack/hardware integration. No need to apologize for your detailed book of a response 🤣. sharing the knowledge is always great, and it helps to hear other people’s point of view. Keep up the good work man! 🔥
it look so simple but i know isnt. very inspiring magic. need some techno recordings. please.
Love all of this. After getting to see you use this live a few times it's such a crazy powerful setup. Can't wait to hang again and make some music.
Thanks Surco! Can’t wait to hang again!

Great vocal samples!

Mate, so good. Where did you find those vocal samples?
Nice man! Curious of why you decided to switch from ableton to bitwig for live performance?
