I’m so happy your market the next day went better than the first one!! That fee was crazy for the first event too😩 Your brother looks like he has such a kind spirit like you! Love that he comes with you to markets and it’s just “hang out” day with his big sister💕🥹🥰
Really enjoy watching your crochet vlogs. I don’t personally do markets but am a crocheter so I love all your ideas for fun patterns to try. Been eyes the Samba elephant pattern for awhile now. :) Good luck with your next market!
I started last year with craft fairs and watching vlogs - I do sewn home and personal items and crafty gifts - carnival events are not good for wholesome goods - they love those knock off printed dtf things - tumblers and whatnot especially if they’re tacky with curse words. Whereas they’d rather not think about gifts or “mama would love this” stuff when they’re drinking - they’d rather buy the lit up plastic toys that are all over carnivals. It’s been a learning curve for sure. It seems to me that the crochet is really selling out at the conventions - “madewithapril” - and several other crochet creatives on RUclips. Such an investment - I did my first convention - board game convention because I was taking my kids there anyhow and it paid for itself 🎉 a win for us and we’re sure to do better next year! Your brother is so sweet - my kids are my partners too in all this - I hope the adults in your life are being supportive behind the scenes - markets are such a grind - can be fulfilling but such a “trial by fire” ❤️
Yea I’m glad minnow sold! Just need that one person to truly fall in love with the item and they did 😊 you’ll learn something from every event you go to and hopefully it inspired you even though the $3 paid for the next pattern you find!
I think legally they're also trademarked as "pocket monster". All my childhood japanese cards (legit) say that on the back and NOT "p*kemon". Just a heads up if you're trying to really avoid infringement! Anyways, I'm in a market prep right now too, and I've been binging your channel while I work, its been such good company ☺
As soon as I heard “you know when your car automatically drives you somewhere?” I instantly subscribed 😂 love your work, it’s all so precious and such an inspiration!
I just had an event where i actually doubled my booth fee and made a profit all 4 other markets were a flop thanks for sharing the not so worth it and worth it shows!
Oh my goodness yes, I’ve had about 3 rough events and the last one was finally profitable 🥹 I hope for nothing but great shows for you for the rest of the year🙏🏼
Congrats on a successful market! All your hard work is paying off. I couldn't help but giggle when you call the shrimp and octo seafood. They would totally be pets to me not food 😆 Thanks for sharing your market adventures with us. ❤
I sold 1 out of 10 Tofus last market 😅 so crazy how each market has different best sellers. I hate that you drove all that way and out in all that effort for a crappy market but now ya know...but it still sucks! 😢

Can’t believe you did so much work for the Saturday market but didn’t make much money you work so hard too hoping your next markets don’t rain on you you have bad luck hopefully you’ll have good luck from now on
I have been running my own handmade hair bow business for 11 years now and something I am a little confused about. You mentioned calculating your material costs. This isn't your first event so I guess my question is do you not invest your profits right back into your business? Unless you are taking the money from your 9-5 job and purchasing supplies from this paycheck then I would assume you're using the profits from your crochet business and using that to restock yarn etc in which case you do not need to remove your material costs from your profits as you've already paid for them with profits. Unless of course you've spent over what your profits were. When starting up a business there is always a start up cost but I would assume by now you're past that part. Right now I am expanding my displays by purchasing 3 more grid walls and hooks however I am purchasing these from PROFITS from my business so it's not an additional expense I am simply reinvesting the profits into my business to better it. ***Please don't confuse this with PRICING your items accordingly with your time/material costs*** I was going to suggest the Ryobi fans from Home Depot I do not recommend the mister however they do have a 7.5" battery fan Whisper fan that is freaking AMAZING (the $59 one)!!! They also have a small 150 watt inverter which is soooo very useful for recharging my square reader or my phone for longer multi day events. I used to do multi day Hot air balloon festivals which are CRAZY BUSY!!!! The inverter is also useful for night markets so you can plug in USB lights!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE Ryobi products and honestly with you being in Florida they are investments well worth making especially since you deal with Hurricanes and frequent crazy weather that can result in power outages!! Every year during Ryobi days which is actually going on now I purchase a couple more batteries to keep growing my batteries on hand! To ME it's an investment well worth having as an extra insurance emergency prep item as well as useful for my home business. Last thing lol there is NO WAY in the world I would let my customers know that I am charging them any type of transaction fee for using their cards!!! I calculate this into the cost of the items just like I calculate the cost of packaging into the price I charge. As a customer this would definitely detour me from purchasing from a vendor! The less they know they are paying for the better, some things are better left unknown!!
Liz!!! Thank you so much for this whole comment! I really appreciate the fan information, I’m going to be checking those out! Also, I have a pricing calculator to figure out how much $ materials each project takes (which really just helps me determine prices for plushies) I hadn’t thought of it the way you explained. I definitely had material cost when I initiated the business, which was paid for by 9 to 5. When I really think about it, I’m already making back material cost when I charge for each item😅🤣 so I was subtracting from my personal profits mentally when really I’m accounting for that and the cost of the item🫠 thank you for saying something because I really would’ve kept calculating the materials out of my genuine profit! I definitely don’t want to deter people by adding another charge onto each item like you said as well, I also don’t want to increase the price of my items by $0.50 meaning possible dollar up charge on everything? Seriously, thank you for bringing all this up ☺️🥹
@@SweetBeansCrochet you are the best!! Thank you!! I do a weekly market at a brewery every Monday and I feel like I need to make a few before my next market! 💕

The word you are looking for is HELL. Not as a curse word, but as the literal burning lake of fire HELL. Also, somewhat literal on the Lake part since the humidity in the South is also....ugh. (I'm in Southeast Louisiana for reference and I have my first market of the summer this coming Saturday.)
Hahaha yes ! That’s what I did with some of the Pokémon babies and dragons because I really kinda don’t want them to sell 🤣🤭 hope no one looks to me for pricing comparisons because it’s really unfair when I’m up charging for emotional requirements🤣🥹
😂😂 I love how the last beer mug looks drunk! Maybe on the mystery boxes you can put a little sticker that says “meow!” So it’s hinting they’re kitties
Love this idea 🥹😉
I’m so happy for you you’ve been working so hard!! ❤

The little shrimp is so cute!! 🥰
I always try to have baby friendly items, so I chose the scout the Sea Turtle as my item I always embroider eyes on.
That’s a great idea! And scout would be a perfect candidate for embroidery 🥹 I’m going to have to do that too!

I know it’s tempting but never crochet while at your booth. You can miss a lot of sells from not looking up am smiling
