- Lyle Lovett and His Large Band - Give Back My Heart
Live at The Cotillion in Wichita, Kansas - June 26th, 2024
Lyle starts by telling a hilarious story about a girl from high school that he asked to dance... as a result of those events, he went home and wrote this song.
Leland Sklar, Russ Kunkel
FULL VIDEO • Lyle Lovett & His Larg... - Видеоклипы
Those two great musicians behind Lyle - Leland Sklar, bass and Russ Kunkel, drums - have been playing together for over 50 years!
Living Legends
I have been watching Leland’s RUclips channel videos of the various sites for this tour. I was hoping he would put one up with Lyle & Company playing. Now that several minutes have passed and Lyle is still story-telling I am suspicious that there may not be any music. I hope I am wrong.
And I am so glad I was wrong. Great song. Great band. Of course Lyle is in excellent form as always. I hope they bring tour to Northern CA.
@@105robmajor Music begins at 5:10. Leland would have to get someone to film their show. When Leland films the events, he doesn't stop the filming until the time runs out, at abuut 30 mins.
@@105robmajor Their concert tour dates are listed online.
Very elegant group of gentlemen.
Real class.
Well said. It’s not usually noticed these days.
Clicked on this for Leland Sklar!
Pretty recognizable.
Me too!!!
Seen him at least 14 times. Red Rocks, Cheyenne, Chicago, Fort Collins, Boulder, Ravinia… always a different show. Always great.
I would love to see a show at Red Rocks. REO Speedwagon did a show with Chicago there about 10 years ago or so and it was televised on AXS TX. It was freaking awesome. 🎸🥁🎺🤘👨🎤👩🎤
That's the inimitable Lee Sklar holding it all together on Bass!

Classic Lyle! And isn't it NICE to see musicians lookin' sharp and snappy?!
Thank goodness for AC
Yes!
He always looked sharp!
I met Lyle on a train going back to the terminal at DIA. Very Nice Guy and Great Music!
Great class, thanks for this shot. Best regards from Tangermünde / Germany.👍🙏☮
What a crew!! Saw him with John Hiatt as a duo act in Deadwood, SD in 2022. Been a fan since 1987 but had to travel all the way to South Dakota 35 years later to see a fellow Texan (actually he was playing at the hotel/ casino that we happened to be snowed in at). Great stories from both!!
Thank you for this.
Here's the whole show.ruclips.net/video/VBRa7slKIR8/видео.html
Thanks. That band is cookin'. That Dharma and Greg episode with Lyle is great.
Thanks, that explains everything!
Very cool, thank you so much! 💕 ✨️
Awesome performance!
Just one word. Great 👌🏻
This is a Great set up my Friend, Well done, Great sound. Good luck.🪗🪗🪗 Mick.
The man!
Good to see Buck on the steel!
I talked to him after the show for about a minute.
Thank you so much for this song, but especially Lyle's story. Do you have the next song that they started? Sounded interesting
I have the whole concert. I'll put it up. It will take a couple of days. 4K60 takes forever to upload... it's 2 hours.
@@shapro88 That would be great!

Old habits die hard!
Where did you find that bass player? He’s pretty good.
@@Billywagner22 He is Leland Sklar. He has played on over a thousand recordings Look him up on Wikipedia. He has been playing with Lyle for 50 years.
@@105robmajor I was being sarcastic, I love Leland!
@@Billywagner22 😂
@@105robmajor 28,000 recordings and he has played with Lyle since the late 80's.
Sounds a little like Boy Named Sue
Bachmam Turner Overdrive !
Would anyone know if Lee Sklar wore a tie?
@steveasche4283 Mr. Sklar was not wearing a tie.
ruclips.net/video/VBRa7slKIR8/видео.html
Didn't this bass player play for peter gabriel?
He's played with everyone. His Wikipedia list is so long, that you may get tired of scrolling before you ever reach the end.
He graduated high school in'75? Was he 42 yrs. old?
Trim those strings 🤬.
@@coolhandluke2310 😂😂😂
He coiled em. That's how we all used to do it. Sometimes you could save a string that way!
@@clappzzz strings are cheap and easy to get nowadays.
Old habits die hard.
But I trim mine!
No doubt all quintessential players. But have to say….the original Large Band rhythm section was WAY batter
Interesting. I'll have to look it up.
The quality of this recording is bad. Makes the drum sound like a tin can!
@@clappzzz In actuality, it was a tin can. The exceptional videography, coupled with the expertise of the individual operating the recording device, generates an extraordinary cinematic illusion that Mr. Kunkel is performing on a genuine drum set.
Funking shite
Torture
@paullawry787 Texas wants you anyway.
I wish Mr. Lovett would sing, but he tightens his neck and throat so much. What a bad habit !
Tough to find a better solo acoustic performer.
Voice totally shot.
Yeah, I got suggested this video because I follow Lee Sklar. I don't get Lyle Lovett. Never did. Not sure how he commands a big tour with a Large Band.
@@briangarrett6510 Because he is an extraordinary talent, his choice of material is demanding and rare. He is beyond ordinary. And, he's from Texas. That's different. Then again, maybe he just ain't your cup of tea. Ain't no part of nothin'
Lovett has a love/hate relationship with his microphone and it sounds like the sound mixer person applied some significant EQ to the vocal to get enough level before feedback when he talks between songs, plus Lovett seems to like a bit of "vintage" in his sound as well.
Lyle is the worst singer I heard in my whole life.
Thanks for checking out the video.
