I have never felt so humble, flattered, and grateful to be called on to play alongside a true master.
Thank God I had the chance to share the stage with the master before his retirement, a memory I will treasure forever.

Hi Paulinho, and for us, the audience as well; that was a wonderful evening in 2008, a rare treat witnessing 2 fine musicians making great music together, clearly relaxed and enjoying themselves on stage. To top it all, Toots and you also signed my guitar. :)

Sharing the stage with Toots Thielemans is a life's gift, I can just hope he enjoyed it as I did.
This rare moment was a beautiful collaboration of two great musical souls.

i am so impressed with that subtle yet ever present guitar cushion that is created by Paulinho; his singing is soft and comforting. Toots is is in ever present mood that is somewhere between a smile and a tear. This performance is truly outstanding; it touches my heart. Thank you for the posting.

so toots also saw the magic in tom's music. he always looked for genius and then played it so you knew who was at work. i love the harmonica, love jobim and am deeply affected by this music. this is the symphony from brazil. rarely do you see all this combined with mr. garcia thrown in too. wow ! thank you for a time that produced this.

Isn't it grand when we look back and see that all that we are comes from deep roots grown by wonderful people who came before us. In your case your granpa, in my case my father, who use to sing at home Noel Rosa, Dorical Caymmi and Ari Barroso songs.
4 times I went to Russia teaching and performing my music. Russians eagerness to to learn, their extremelly high music education and easy Portuguese pronunciation made my vocal students sound just like a Brazilian choir.

Dear Paulinho Garcia, my grand father past away long time ago. He was a director of a school where we was dictated what kind of music he was to teach. And yes it was in Russia. But every time we would gather up at home he would always play for us masterpiece written by Antonio Carlos Jobim or he would sing like A. Gilberto ( at least he would pretend) and me and my brothers would always ask him--Grand, what kind of music this is ? Who made it ? And only now I know. Thank You. Life is music
