The LMF was made for military helicopter crash extraction/rescue - and cutting electric cable, etc......not hammering cinder blocks. You have to consider knife mission when demo-testing. I think that you were too hard on this mission-specific knife. Thanks

I own a FDE type Gerber LMF II blade with the added safety tool(with nylon sheath). I got in from Policestore.com & Brownells. I paid around $85.00 USD. I keep the Gerber knives in my SUV for auto emergencies or disaster recovery events. I haven't used it often & did not tear it up but I can see your points in the video. Gerber may consider using a extended tang for a stronger field knife but keep this version for military or special ops use. I heard a few SF units & engineers in SW Asia used these Gerber LMF II blades to rescue air crews/cut power lines. I think the USAF SERE kit version was discontinued but Gerber might have a few out there. The GI/USAF version is sage green. The new Tanto style Gerber Prodigy looks cool. Are there any field knife models or brands you would suggest in the $75-85.00 budget range? Thanks!
I would recommend the Gerber Strongarm if you like Gerbers, and also the Becker modes are pretty tough. I just did a Glock knife review, and that blade can take some serious abuse ! Thanks for watching friend ! :) Mayor Fuglycool
I think they used to make these knives with 12c27 steel which in my opinion does not hold a edge as long as 420hc steel, maybe why they changed to 420hc.
Based on his experience, this Gerber Strongarm is a really good knife as they say? I'm looking for a sturdy knife, not great, that cuts for a long time and it's easy to sharpen, a knife is to be entrusted with life? I want a good product, you can do this in my case?

I have a Prodigy next to me on the table. I too would love to see a review on this knife when you get a chance.

I have carried it back-packing for a few years now, and it is still shaving sharp. It is an ideal primary knife for my purposes. I even prefer the serrated edge because it cuts dry winter grass so well. I use the grass for sleeping in the winter, as I sleep on the ground in winter. No bugs, no snakes and warmer than a hammock in cold weather. That serrated edge rips through light vegetation like a laser, enabling me to gather a full arm-load if dry, tall grass in less than five minutes. +Mayor Fuglycool I actually watched your Gerber Strongarm review earlier and I definitely think it is far superior to the LMF 2. It would seem to me that the blade movement would have allowed the blade to completely separate from the handle on the LMF if you used it for sawing or general camp use for any length of time. I'd be interested to know, what are your thoughts on this knife after testing the two?
Exactly,ty mayor im glad you about this knife,im still going with the strongarm, but given if you didn't have to use the spine of the then your fine, have you seen the schrade tactical shovel.
The pull-up test I think you should do it by introducing the blade in some complete hold or 2/3 of the blade of the knife and hang with both hands on the handle and make more force. The way you do it is not a good hold and you run a very big risk of cutting off a finger from your hand. Thanks for the review. I wouldn't buy a knife that doesn't have a full spike.
+MrEPIK75 Yes, a strong knife is more safe than a weak blade that can break. Thank you for watching, and I am glad that you enjoy my videos :) Mayor Fuglycool

after reading a few comments here it seems some people just dont get the point of your tests. Since this knife withstood your harsh abusive testing it certainly will hold up to any heavy use i will put it thru. I like the idea of your testing and u earned a sub. thumbs up!
We get the tests completely ...maybe you don't understand mission specific gear ? This knife was designed with a specific task and safety PERIOD . Not to be able to withstand anything aircraft are not made of concrete but they are full of wires. Thats why the blade is free floating to some degree to insulate it....NEVER was pounding the spine against blocks engineered into its functions. He is a moron end of story.
the LMF2 needs a 3 changes to be the perfect knife ever: 1. It must be made in a FULL TANG construction !!! 2. Must be a version of the knife WITHOUT the stupid SERRATOR 3. Must be a version of the knife in a D2 steel
I love the gerber mystery steel. My mom used to work at Oregon steel and id get the blanks. Her boyfriend took a couple blades and had beautiful custom jobs done fake ivory and polished with beautiful leather sheaths. And my shithead older brother stole it from me and sold it to my friend. I always wanted an lmf2 and I just got an old salty dog for 20 bucks at a hawk shop. My prodigy is better, the pointed butt would crack a skull no problem, same steel but imo the narrower width is better for thrust cuts and its lighter yet stronger. Best 50$ spent at wally world so far for the limited coyote and plain edge. My Applegate folder is my baby tho
Charles Mancao It's cool lol, shes a good camera operator. She does shoot pistols and rifles too, you can see her in my other videos :) Mayor Fuglycool
The shit you're doing to that knife represents gross abuse that more than likely would never happen in a real world scenario. I own one and recommend it to anyone. I guess a lot of people break bricks and cinder blocks, and do pull ups in a survival situation or out bush crafting.
Gerber's American 420 is wicked good stuff but I agree and never bought the LMF because of the serrated blade but the poor handle design. Every failure I've seen with that knife has had to do with that handle esp the hard plastic insert. Once that gets hit like during batoning it gets cracked and then becomes detached from the tang. Check out the Schrade SCHF40 & 40d also the "L" which is 2 inches longer...Its an obvious rip off but IMHO a way better designed handle. The thing is a beast and comes with Japanese 420J2 steel, the 40d is the straight edged version so when I do get the money I'm going to get one cause I love the Gerber LMF but Gerber really doesn't listen much to their customers so Schrade will get my $$$.
I think the prodigy is better. I have yet to break the one I rigorously abuse. Have the prodigy tanto "the one that I abuse" and the prodigy with coyote handle. They are solid knives and I would trust them to hold up to just about anything.
This knife has a factory insulated split tang. Not a full tang knife . its made that way for cutting through walls and likely why the handle failed. Also there will never be an actual need to smash a cinder block with your knife in a survival situation. A rock will do for that job . save on your knife. Great review! A little rough lol but by far the best review of this knife online.
Great stress test, you killed it! I thought they advertised it as full tang? Hence my interest! Thanks mam! Guess I'll be looking at the Becker knives instead 7 & 9.
okay I'm confused you put a knife through a obscenely ridiculous amount of stress tests that you would never do to any knife in any real world situation you pass the knife on your tests but then said you would not carry it because you are afraid it would fail in the future when you really needed it. if you are testing does not prove that this knife will stand up to basically anything you need it to why are you doing these tests in the first place? If your own testing cannot show you that this knife will not fail under normal heavy use why did you pass it? And what exactly are you expecting to do with a knife in any scenario where this is not an acceptable standard?
+outcomeagent Heavy use is subjective. Depends on the person and application. Guess what ? My video is a real world situation, because it actually happened. I tell the truth, fanboys shall cry, but in the end it either passes or fails. Mayor Fuglycool
+Mayor Fuglycool im not being a fanboy i guess what i am getting at is i dont know how shattering cinder blocks with the back of your knife is real world use? i mean yes it is a crazy way to show durability but to smash 2 bricks with a knife and do pull ups on it and fault it for a little blade wobble? honestly i will never run anything but my ESEE 5 for a survival knife. Again after that abuse and having it hold up what would you need to do with it that would exceed the abuse you put it threw? i mean if anyone trys hard enough you can get anything to fail and yes if you need a tool and its all you have use it but at what point dose it go from using it to do a job to destroying a knife? like if you need to pry a car door open because of a car accident (something i have had to do) and only have a knife use it yes and you will probably destroy it in the process but if it is a choice between your knife or the tire iron would you not use the better tool for the job? thats all i am asking.
outcomeagent Remember, live bones is harder and more durable than concrete. Seen many a person stab into hogs, and break blades. Friend cut his hand bad once, from a shattered blade. Seen people miss hogs when the dogs are on em. . . Hit limestone on the ground and break tangs, blades, and handles. In self defense, on the backbite you can hit hard objects. . . Especially in an urban environment, when the aggressors are trying to harm you with anything from a maglite to firearm. I will tell you that steel is harder than a brick. Mayor Fuglycool
@@MayorFuglycools "Originally designed to free an aircrew from a downed aircraft, the LMF II is tough enough to cut through the fuselage of an aircraft and smart enough to ensure you are safe while doing so. The knife has a purposeful break between the tang and the butt cap, providing insulated protection against stray wires and absorbing any shock from hammering. Again, you stand corrected. lol
@@adamsardella981 I don't think you have ever tried to "cut" through aircraft grade aluminum. Advertising is one thing, implementation is another.
Gerber steadfast is really nice and sharp miss mine..
i love you man, your vids help me out on purchasing knives a lot. And I like how you repeatedly put in the main idea of safety :)
+MrEPIK75 Yes, a strong knife is more safe than a weak blade that can break. Thank you for watching, and I am glad that you enjoy my videos :)
Mayor Fuglycool
I'd like to see you put the M48 Ops Combat Fighter through all of you're tests.
+NICOXXVII Thanks for the request ! I will see when I can get around to that blade.
Thanks for watching !
Mayor Fuglycool
Your channel rocks bro !!🇨🇦
Whenever he used the word tip and penetration 2 sentences in a row😍
There goes Mayor Fuglycool doing his thing again bash testing another fine blade - Looks like Gerber's version of a lighter duty Becker...Thanks for the test - the Gerber is OK...
+FortuneCookie45LC Thanks for watching ! I promise that I will get back to the gun reviews pretty soon. . . And I am also getting ready for the Texas Firearms Festival in November. I will be press there, and you are welcome to hang out in Texas !
Mayor Fuglycool
Try the okc combat s3 i think its the usmc bayonet combat knife
That is not how you fight or shave
Thanks mayor. The fugly cool test is brutal. What happened to arnie when doing the pull ups lol
Nice work! I'm getting one!
wow awesome video! thank goodness it didn't break on you when you did the pull ups with it :o
Gaming Goddess
+Gaming Goddess Thanks ! ;3))-o
Mayor Fuglycool
I really love your rewiew.you always throw knives. that's why I must see your rewiew.thanks!
Thank you friend ! :)
Mayor Fuglycool
You could cut through that lime with a blunt eating knife with the same amount of ease. Chiping wont alter the cuting through lime "factor" at all.
+Dag Ut Actually . . . No I could not. Check out my recent OKC Chimera knife test. That knife was dulled so bad that the line rind was REALLY DIFFICULT to cut ! Crazy !
Mayor Fuglycool
This dude has the best knife reviews by far!
Thank you :)
Mayor Fuglycool
Welcome back to my laboratory where safety is number one priority.....wait wrong channel. Lol awesome review.
Here we Go. Thanks Mayor!
+Abe Veg Yes no problem ! I will be doing the strongarm in the next month or so. Stay tuned !
Mayor Fuglycool
+Mayor Fuglycool Can't wait.
Thanks again Mayor!
It's rather heavy knife for its size due to the butt cap.
+Iamthedudeman00 Yes, but it is durable :)
Mayor Fuglycool
That's an impressive knife.
after reading a few comments here it seems some people just dont get the point of your tests. Since this knife withstood your harsh abusive testing it certainly will hold up to any heavy use i will put it thru. I like the idea of your testing and u earned a sub. thumbs up!
Thanks friend ! Glad you loved the tests :)
Mayor Fuglycool
We get the tests completely ...maybe you don't understand mission specific gear ? This knife was designed with a specific task and safety PERIOD . Not to be able to withstand anything
aircraft are not made of concrete
but they are full of wires. Thats why the blade is free floating to some degree to insulate it....NEVER was pounding the spine against blocks engineered into its functions. He is a moron end of story.
The end of the knife if called the pummel, not "breaking thing" or "cap". PUMMEL
TheDuckheadful Actually it's pommel dickheadful. POMMEL.
Idiot
LMF 2 IS ACTUALLY A BEAST
You should of fully tested it with a cattle prod.
You got it wrong with ‘urban scenario’ it was designed to be carried by flight crew
i like that kind of testing. Thanks!
the LMF2 needs a 3 changes to be the perfect knife ever:
1. It must be made in a FULL TANG construction !!!
2. Must be a version of the knife WITHOUT the stupid SERRATOR
3. Must be a version of the knife in a D2 steel
They do that and it is not the LMF 2, it is not full tang for a specific reason.
Who's your camera man?
+Charles Mancao She's actually a camera woman ;)
Mayor Fuglycool
+Mayor Fuglycool sorry
Charles Mancao
It's cool lol, shes a good camera operator.
She does shoot pistols and rifles too, you can see her in my other videos :)
Mayor Fuglycool
Is it fulltang??
No
@@usernameunknown-gq3pf the strongarm? It same or not??
hi ...I have wrap the knife handle with a cord and it's work withe me ... thanks
+abdullah alkatheeri Cool ! Thanks for watching !
Mayor Fuglycool
The shit you're doing to that knife represents gross abuse that more than likely would never happen in a real world scenario. I own one and recommend it to anyone. I guess a lot of people break bricks and cinder blocks, and do pull ups in a survival situation or out bush crafting.
This test simulates years of hard abuse. 95% of the knives tested pass with flying colors.
Thanks for watching !
Mayor Fuglycool
With that much abuse you'd have to use it for 250 years.
Bryan Baker
Depends what environment as well. I prefer the Gerber Strongarm, it is far more durable in my OP.
Mayor Fuglycool
YUP , For me you are the best test knifer , you make durable test than anyone does so thanks ! xD TEST SPYDERCO KNIFES!
Law of Guns
One day I will get to spydercos ;)
Mayor Fuglycool
do one video for the aitor jungle king 2
+Airik1111 Thanks ! Yeah I will check it out :)
Mayor Fuglycool
*****
I really need to test the Strongarm. :)
Mayor Fuglycool
*****
I do thank you for the kind words friend :)
Mayor Fuglycool
another awesome video!
+Derico Duncan Thanks for watching friend, I am glad you liked it ! :)
Mayor Fuglycool
I think the prodigy is better. I have yet to break the one I rigorously abuse. Have the prodigy tanto "the one that I abuse" and the prodigy with coyote handle. They are solid knives and I would trust them to hold up to just about anything.
+JeepJeep234 I will get around to testing more Gerbers in the future, stay tuned ;3))
Mayor Fuglycool
This knife has a factory insulated split tang. Not a full tang knife . its made that way for cutting through walls and likely why the handle failed. Also there will never be an actual need to smash a cinder block with your knife in a survival situation. A rock will do for that job . save on your knife.
Great review! A little rough lol but by far the best review of this knife online.
Great stress test, you killed it!
I thought they advertised it as full tang?
Hence my interest!
Thanks mam!
Guess I'll be looking at the Becker knives instead 7 & 9.
Rule of thumb..Full tang, or leave it alone.
Glock 78 / 81 does not have a full tang, and I don't leave it at home ;)
Mayor Fuglycool
Neither does KABAR. Tell the USMC that..
And Cudeman Boina verde??? When????
My opinion is there are better knifes out there for the same money they're asking for that one this is coming from an Oregonian
Lost me at 420 steel and not full tang. They should have a full tang option for people who want it.
Lime test is a joke Mr. mayor.
okay I'm confused you put a knife through a obscenely ridiculous amount of stress tests that you would never do to any knife in any real world situation you pass the knife on your tests but then said you would not carry it because you are afraid it would fail in the future when you really needed it. if you are testing does not prove that this knife will stand up to basically anything you need it to why are you doing these tests in the first place?
Again after that abuse and having it hold up what would you need to do with it that would exceed the abuse you put it threw? i mean if anyone trys hard enough you can get anything to fail and yes if you need a tool and its all you have use it but at what point dose it go from using it to do a job to destroying a knife? like if you need to pry a car door open because of a car accident (something i have had to do) and only have a knife use it yes and you will probably destroy it in the process but if it is a choice between your knife or the tire iron would you not use the better tool for the job? thats all i am asking.
outcomeagent
Remember, live bones is harder and more durable than concrete.
Mayor Fuglycool
no....The knife was designed for them to cut through the cockpit of a downed helicopter.
Actually no, the M9 bayo was
Mayor Fugylcool
@@MayorFuglycools "Originally designed to free an aircrew from a downed aircraft, the LMF II is tough enough to cut through the fuselage of an aircraft and smart enough to ensure you are safe while doing so. The knife has a purposeful break between the tang and the butt cap, providing insulated protection against stray wires and absorbing any shock from hammering.
Again, you stand corrected. lol
@@adamsardella981 I don't think you have ever tried to "cut" through aircraft grade aluminum. Advertising is one thing, implementation is another. The M9 was designed to saw through fuselage, sorry bro but it's a marketing gimmick. Nothing against the LMF, but been there done that kiddo.
I stand corrected pertaining the use of an advertising statement. LOL good one.
Mayor Fuglycool
I'm incredibly disappointed. I was going to buy this knife but after I've seen this clip I've regretted it. Gerber should be ashamed. How the hell can they build a knife without full-tang ? .Remove that silly pommel and make it full-tang .Or make something that not leads electricity . . A knife in that price range should be full-tang
I'm with you Grayfizzle...what the hell was that at 35 sec. LMAO....dude, settle down. Hopefully you never have to defend yourself with a knife. Oh boy....
It's a joke, parody from all of the CS ads and ninja mail order stuff. I really shouldn't have to defend my E-sona from a no sub like you, but hey it gives me some nice salt to add to my collection.
Mayor Fuglycool
@@MayorFuglycools Funny shit dude lol. I thought the throw was actually pretty good.
