- How to Make a Picture Frame. Picture frames are a great Christmas Gift Idea. The Picture Frame l’m making in this video is a scrap wood project that anybody can tackle and complete over a weekend. Scrap wood projects are perfect as a Christmas gift. This picture frame project was a take on the classic Measure Twice, Cut Once Meme. They come up really nice, have that personal touch, and are cheap to make! Hope you enjoy the video.

7.5
I think I have the idea for son #3s birthday present.
Thanks Uncle 👍
7.5 ????......Getting there 👊😊 I'm sure No.3 will love it Shane! Thanks for watching mate 😁
@@diyforknuckleheads
Too harsh? Could go an 8.0 if you rolled the mints down the tape and into your gob 🤣🤣🤣.
#3 is a gun chippy, as was his pop. We've done few jobs together and so far it seems our tape measures concur 🤣🤣🤣.
As bad as I am, I'd probably try and make this and it would come out a perfect rectangle for some reason. Probably my bad measuring skills!
Hahahahahahahahaha...classic! Love it! 👍😁
Great video! I'm going with a 10 on the dad joke. It would have been a 9 if you hadn't put the mints on the tape measure and eaten them.
great video, mate!
Cheers for that W.P. 👍
I can't wait to give this a try! Thanks for showing us.
No worries at all Andy! Really simple little project mate and a great talking point. Thanks for the feedback 👍😁
You're such a good bloke managing to reply to people who comment despite how big your channel has got.
This has got to be my favourite RUclips channel by far. Such great jobs put across in a way I can follow easily. I think it also shows how skilled you are. I'm sure Einstein said something along the lines of "If you can't explain something simply, you don't understand it well enough".
@@sawdustandsurvivalAndy, if it wasn't for guys like you watching my stuff l wouldn't have a Channel so thank you !!
Love ur videos mate 🤣
😂....Cheers mate 👍😁🇦🇺
Fine humorous idea! I loved it!
Fwiw: I would put this on my shop's main wall, that is dedicated to several painful-but-ever-true manifestations of the unavoidable set of:
"MURPHY's LAW Multiple corollaries"...
On that wall, I've written many true Murphys Law occasions that I was bitten by those...
Like: "How come that I'll always realize that I forgot to put the gasket, only after installing 15 of the 16 bolts, and just as soon as I was exclaiming: "I'm almost finishing..." and then I turned my head to find the forgotten gasket, almost laughing at me!!!
Hahahhahaahha....so true Alfredo! 😂
actually that "dad joke" wasn't too bad. I'm up for puns myself so sure why not? :). Also love your woodworking. Amazing.
😂...Cheers mate 👍
Great project! Dad Joke Scale... Uhm.. Well, uhh. Let's see... a 7 because you look so good in the Santa hat... just a little more gray hair. LOL Another entertaining, yet informational video Uncle Knackerzzzzzahh!
I think Santa dyes his beard Sandi😂 I can take a 7....just☺️ Thanks for watching👏
I'm trying to do this exactly as you say but I can't find any of that quicksand you talk about anywhere! :D
Hahahahahahaha....there's always one in a crowd 😂
Finally an Aussie woodworker with great sense of humour and contents.. I love your channel, Shane.
👍😁...Thanks Khaled! Really appreciate the feedback mate 👍😁🇦🇺
After applying the glue, couldn't one use a brd nailer instead of tape?
Yep, you could Frank 👍👍
Dude did you have to remind me lol
Hahahhaaha...sorry about that Donna 😊

Thought I would watch simple DIY wood projects on the old YT. Seen a few things, some good, some bad, but most requiring expensive tools etc.
Then saw your vids, though here we go, same old, same old... HOW WRONG WAS I, LOVE IT, GREAT FUN, GREAT PROJECTS, AND NONE PATRONISING. I'VE EVEN HIT THE SUBSCRIBE BUTTON.
👍
Good stuff mate! Glad you enjoyed the vid and thanks for the sub!!..much appreciated. Hope you can stick around. Cheers 👍😁🇦🇺
GREAT TIP KNACKEEEARRRRZZZZ!!!
Spelt perfectly! 👍😁
Is it bad that I thought the dad joke was when he said “don’t be too tight with it, give yourself a millimeter on either side, top and bottom so you have some breathing room to work with.”
With my cutting skills it's: Measure twice. Cut once. Curse like a sailor at the result.
I can totally relate mate 👍😁😂
Welcome back Uncle Knackers. Another great video , another great idea. Thumbs up .
Thanks Vic....appreciate the comment mate 👍🇦🇺😁
My good ole grandad used to say " measure thrice, check twice, and cut once!" Sadly I didn't always stick to his rule lol
😂 Smart man your Grandad Billy 👍😁
Why do knuckleheads in the USA say cut a “rabbit”?
I am going back and looking at some of your videos that I have missed. This is such a great idea! Not only would it make a great gift, I think it would be great just to have around your shop to remind you of this rule that is always a constant for woodworkers and contractors. Great job.
👍😁...Thanks Gregg....glad you liked it mate 👍😁
ah ha! you switched the tape measure from 2m to 5m in the end :D
I do like you and your video’s, you’re finishing isn’t the best but I still enjoy the channel!!

Uncle Knackers I was wondering why you have been making less videos & thought you may be transitioning your focus like Steve Ramsay from Woodworking for Mere Mortals? He recently did a video about the life cycle and business of RUclips and maker/DIY channels that I thought might be of interest? ruclips.net/video/9YQguhFKSWY/видео.html Hope the bushfires aren't too bad in your neck of the woods on the coast?
G'day Richard....watched it and it does ring true...Thanks for the link 👍 I am hoping to ramp things up. Work has just been a little busy keeping me out of the shed which is the main reason to why l havent been uploading as often.....work always seems to get in the way of things that you want to do 😂 The fires have been pretty bad up here mate....thick smoke for weeks and houses not far from here being lost.....we need a really big drop of rain! Have a good one 👍
HEY!! What happened to the other little measure??
Measuring twice is where you went wrong mate. Measure once...with the same number! Lololol 😂😂👍
😂😂 good one mate 🇦🇺🇦🇺👊
As per usual a cracking little project build Shane well done mate.
What happened to the Original Tape Measure you glued on as not only does it look bigger, but it changed colour as well? to many beers for a Friday? ha ha ha.
Barry (ENG)
Eerrr yeah...the little tape??? Didn't quite cut the mustard Bazz...had to do a quick costume change between shots 😂 Those Friday beers have a lot to answer for! Thanks again for watching mate 👍
Awesome tip Knackers 👍👍👍, I was asleep at the wheel wondering why the one corner was cut shorter 😳😮🧐 but then it dawned 😁 & Dad joke is in for review lol, says me (worlds worst joke teller lol )😉🍺🍺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
It is late at night mate....🤔 so l'll let your senior moment go through to the keeper😂👊 What!!...in review...the anticipation is killing me 😂 Thanks for watching mate 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🍺🍺🍺👍😁
2/10 sorry for that 1. Had a knock on the door. Local community were doing a collection for a swimming pool. I gave them a glass of water.....
What!!!...a 2????....l'm devastated 😂 Nice gag by the way 👍😁🇦🇺🎄
Love the videos and the Dad Jokes. Could leave that last corner un-glued and then cut out the gap on the mitre saw. That way normal frame clamping can be used for strengthening the glue joints. Just a thought.
Thanks Ben and good idea re the tip 👍👍
Great project. It sure makes the point. One thing, however, I don't remember you spending much time on the transfer of "Measure twice, cut once" lettering onto the wood.
Is that from another video? How is that done?
J.F....l didn't show all the method because l've done it many times before in other videos. Check out this link. Link to Image Transfer Video. The instruction starts around the 5.40 mark in the video. Good Luck!! ruclips.net/video/-A-Un_X21lU/видео.html
So, I live in America and here where I live we call it a miter saw. Also, after a great day working on a project I go into the house and make myself a great cup of tea (habit from my mom's side of the family). Finally your videos are entertaining as well as educational. Glad I found your youtube channel.
Thanks Frank and welcome aboard mate! You're right, a good cup of tea is worth its weight in gold! Actually having one as l write this reply 😁 Hope you can stick around for more to come 👍😁🇦🇺
Hay uncle knackers , How did the tape measure change colour like that.lol😉 and changed in length.
I think those Friday night beers were playing tricks with my eyes...the little tape had to do a quick costume change between shots😂 Thanks for watching mate and for bringing up the tape thingy🤔🤔😊🍺🍺
Thanks for the chuckle Mate. Love your videos. Also, impressed by your sence of humor.
👍😁....Thanks Mark! Glad you liked it mate 👍🇦🇺😁
Couldn't figure out the gap until I got the joke. Norm Abrams should be proud! Bad dad joke = 4. Sorry about that.
4!!!...4!!!...dont think l'll be able to recover from that George...back to the drawing board 😂 Not everyone got it straight up mate...l was leaving it till the end reveal 😁 Thanks for watching 👍
10 for the Dad joke,
😂😂...Glad you liked it 👍🇦🇺
Dad joke score, 7. Would of been better without prelude warning. I have just the right scraps to do this.
Still happy with a 7 Michael!👍 Gotta love a scrap pile mate...good luck with the project 😁
Great info but WAY too many ads.
Great ideas! Witty too! But the Dad joke though..... someone call the cops...
What!...the dad joke!!...that was some of my best work 😂😂 Thanks for watching...really appreciate it. Cheers 👍
Or maybe some 1/2 '' 18 gauge finishing nails with nail gun or not? Nice job by the way mate !
Thanks Tim....glad you liked it! 👍😁🇦🇺
Dad joke maybe a 6 but a plus 2 for the visual joke with the mints. Total = 8! Not bad at all!
Yes!...an 8! Thanks Nelson. Anything over 5 is a win 👍😂 Thanks for the feedback👊🇦🇺
Measure twice. Cut once. Return to lumberyard for replacement board...
😂😂..so true Doug 👍
Love that magic tape measure that change colors towards the end of the video. Great video!
👍 Thanks mate 👍🇦🇺😁
Hey Uncle Knackers, ill give you an 8/10 for the dad joke for equal parts laughing and groaning. Has to be more groaning than laughing for a full 10. Love the project, i might make one for the ol man but i watched your other video about printing on the wood and sorry mate but i didn't quite follow, unless, all you had to do was print it backwards on a laser jet printer on to adhesive paper, stick it down and rub the ink into the wood and it's done like a dinner?! Is that the gist of it?!
I'll take an 8/10 Ryan 😂 and yes l agree on the groaning component 😊 Spot on re the printing mate....couldn't be easier. Just don't touch the ink on the paper as it's very wet. Have a good one mate and thanks for watching 👍🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺😁
@@diyforknuckleheads Awesome! I had no idea it was that easy. Thanks knackers!
I'm still laughing Unc! Great, fun video. And I'll give the Dad Joke a 10 out of 10!
Whoo Hoo!! got a 10! Thanks Ken, glad you liked the video mate 👍😁
Sorry that mint as a great 10, cheers
For those who only speak ‘murican, rebate = rabbet.
Thanks for the translation mate 😂
Uncle Knackerz, for some reason, the first video in your scrap wood projects is a funny kids fail video. I'm sorry, but I don't think I have the skills to make one of those from scrap wood. :)
Hahahhahahha....l just checked that and you're right!! That's what happens when your nine year old son has access to your account!! Why l oughta!!! Have a good weekend Brandon 👍😁
Thanks, Knakerz. I have the same problem with my kids! "Why do I have all of these suggestions from YT for videos on how to make slime???"
Hi, I've been working on this picture frame for about two weeks, off and on. I had to improvise quite a bit because I didn't have a router so my brothers a carpenter and I can't ask him for advice and help because I'm making it for him so I got an old picture frame that I cut out the side of, got a nice piece of plywood for the backing painted the picture frame and everything's in order except for the transfer of the letters now, I did put it on my computer in Microsoft word and I flipped it. I bought some label transferred labels and they're not the right kind, can you let me know what kind of labels that you printed your words on to be able to put it on the wood I would appreciate it, and by the way, I'm a 74-year-old grandmother of four and I love to work with wood but I'm kind of stuck cuz I don't have all the tools so I have to do a lot of improvising I appreciate your help love your videos
Kat
Hi Kat 👍 Hope your brother likes it.....l'm sure he will 👍😁 With the labels, you have to peel them off and discard them. What you want is the A4 sheet of paper that the labels came off. Once all the labels have been removed and tossed out, you are left with a sheet of A4 Paper that has one side which is shiny. This is the side that the labels came off. The ink from your printer is printed onto the shiny side. Place the shiny side of the paper down in your printer and away you go. Your printer needs to be an Inkjet Printer for this technique to work. It won't work on a Laser Jet Printer. Hope that all makes sense Kat and good luck 👍👍😁🇦🇺
@@diyforknuckleheads thanks again, you saved me. I was wondering if you could make a lap desk, it's something that's for people that are in bed and want to write or use their lap tops. The top lifts up to store pencils, writing paper or a mouse for the computer. It's about the size of a lap top, maybe 15" x 11" or so
That was a good job it does send the message nicely.loke it.
Cheers B.J 👍👍
Use an old, worn out or broken tape measure rather than throwing it in the garbage!
Good tip mate! 👍😁🇦🇺

A bit of hot glue instead of the tape is a good little trick, put a bit where you are applying your wood glue for instant grip, it will hold in place and no need to remove. Works just as well as a clamp.
