It’s almost as if writers are extremely important for good sketches week after week.

I’m a filmmaker myself, writer, director and producer and as screenwriter we are the foundation that is build upon to make great shows! It’s work but I love it!
Well, it definitely improves the odds but when you've been watching SNL for as long as I have, it's by no means a guarantee.

The twist in the State Farm skit ending was SUCH a cherry on top! Chef's kiss, Writers. This shit doesn't write itself! Pay the writers, end the strike, and get back to making seriously funny skits!
The State Farm sketch was great but in general SNL needs new writers. 80% of the sketches have been truly unwatchable they've been so bad. Weekend Update has been consistent but in general they need to clean house.
That sketch works because the Jake from StateFarm character really sucks in the actual commercials. It's the worst kind of corporate design-by-committee bullshit. By contrast, Flo and the Limu Emu (and Doug) are glorious insanity.

He was a guy named Jake that worked at State Farm.
Guest hosts Michael B. Jordan, Meg Tha Stallion, and Pedro Pascal were hilarious this season 💯💯

Travis Kelce was great. That American Girl skit will be a classic.

@@johrathbun That wasn't pre-taped. It was more of a physical comedy routine paired with Ego's impeccable timing, and being live was part of it's success. It's always funny when people break, sure. It was a different sort of sketch altogether.

I literally got tickets to SNL and then the writers went on strike and the show couldn’t happen! I am so devastated but there is no SNL without the amazing writers. I’m heartbroken but I support them!!

If I had a nickel for every time I've seen an SNL sketch where Mikey gets his family taken over by a marvel actor I would have two nickels, which isn't a lot but its weird it happened twice

Honestly a majority of the enjoyment I get out of SNL is from pre-taped, more well produced sketches. It opens up the door for a lot more creativity, and they could probably pivot very well into a large scale online sketch based channel that would translate well into shorts/tiktoks, as well as continued YT uploads

Mario Kart was as good as sesame street. That joke just never gets old to me, and the cast is of course ridiculously talented. But most of these made it here cause the guest stars featured came with insane amounts of fame and fans.

The Southwest Airlines “Computer Jokes” are spot on. Their network is a Frankenstein nightmare of multiple apps that do the same thing because nobody gives a shit. My boss told me “We are the Wal-Mart of airlines.” Then HIS boss echoed the exact same thing word for word. Anyone who criticizes the pile of crap they built, they are swiftly shown the door. I left after I pointed out the pile of dog shit on the floor that everyone pretend not to see so they wouldn’t have to pick it up.

@@johrathbun There are far worse companies out there. So, let’s not put SWA at the bottom of the barrel. There are a lot of great people that work there and I loved how we could all drink beer during lunch or after work in the outdoor common area. Those guys know how to party.

It was too funny. That's what I like about the show. The staff catches on to what people are talking about or viewing on social media and writes it in a sketch within 1 to 2 weeks.
