Thanks AL!! Hope you can see it in person when concerts come back!
2:05 Gotta love that reaction to the Rollins quote
Also, the entire recording is nuts, I love it!
@@Cornhole1 The best reaction! Glad you're digging it.
Pat has the best reactions ever
WOW!!!! JUST WOW!!!! That is the most amazing jazz I have ever seen. I play Tenor Saxophone and those solos were amazing!!!! So awesome!!!! Keep it up Sammy Miller and the congregation big band!!!!
This is the best form of art :,) such beautiful music! I was torn between alto or tenor but after watching this I know the tenor has my heart, and I will be purchasing my first sax very soon! Thank you!
In time we'll have ya up on stage with us!
Congrats! They're both beautiful instruments, but I find the tenor richer and more versatile. That being said, if you can, learn them all! Good luck on your saxophone journey, enjoy!
Imagine being high and going to this concert!
Omg I would’ve been dancing so hard
this makes me want to grab my sax again and go back to playing in a big band right now
2:15. When another tenor sax soloist meets another
Nice! Hi Jerry it's Barry Titone's son Barry. You guys were killi'n it!:)
17 year old tenor saxophonist here! I play classical at the moment, but I would love to be able to play music like these bands do. Awesome performance!!
Loving it is the first step, keep walking towards it and you'll get there!
I love the younger guy’s tone quality. Clear as day and well rounded
Those old Conn saxophones sound the best to me also!
I dont know anything about Jazz but good graces does this make me want to jump and jive
Oh my god....Insane performing!!! Okay, I call this BIG BIG Band
HAHA Glad you enjoy Makoto
Scrumptious
Thanks Elliot!
That was sick! Would've loved to hear Patrick Bartley shred this
O always love us some Bartley!
Damn fun!!!!!!! Damn fun!!!!
So fun!!!
"David Linard - piano." Who is that other fantastic (4:16 - 5:30 ... wow!!) pianist?
I really liked the first concert F the lead trumpet played at 3:35 as a #9 - never recall having heard that harmony used to open a rhythm-changes-style bridge. The second F worked too, of course. The third one...I was wanting to hear a 1/2 step move in either direction to go with the dominant 7, but the V chord brought it all back together with a shake to boot ;-) Nice lead chops!
so electric! Wow what a great concept and music.
We're glad you dig it Justin!
good stuff

Also, this video inspired a search for amazing live sax battles, but it's mostly memes. It'd be much appreciated if anyone here has a link or two to a cutting session, sax "battle" (not the NYC subway), etc. Thanks in advance.
Thanks!

@@smcongregation Thank you Mr. Miller! The live Eddie and Johnny session is a gem! I especially love the ending, the old school energy was amazing. Also, thanks for linking Eternal Triangle; I listen every so often and I don't think my jaw has left the floor from the first time I heard in over 20 years ago. Thanks for linking all of these!
イエ~い!!

1:49 half of mario kart licc
This shit slaps
What tune is that Rollins quote from?
These guys are great but the tenor on the right needs to raise that horn up on the neck strap
yea its a bit low he still has a great sound , he just wouldnt have to stick his neck out like that proly get an even better/bigger sound if he pulled his neck strap up and brought his horn a bit more into his mouth. soem cats are used to it like that , sax is a very personal insrtument its gotta be just right.
@@NYCSportsNBA i agree he sounds great , i just think he looks very uncomfortable. i'm a 50 year sax player and teacher and what comes out of the horn is what counts but the way he has the strap he will have back aches and even jaw and mouth pain since the strap is doing no work more of the weight of the sax is on his lip than should be but when you play great who cares? it's up to him i guess
@@albiondi4078 i agree
Was that a tenor sax?
he really sat behind the beat geez
Jerry Weldon?
Yep!
the other one losing his breath
How can they forget to credit Immanuel Wilkins !
Yeah! And this is why today music suck, you may not like Jazz or Classical but what a dynamic! Dynamic and the metronome is not fixed. All the music we listen in radio is produced with zero dynamic and no timing variations. Flat
this is a hot messsss
