I'm an old 80's and 90's gamer. The backlog of good games I want to play is so large, I never pre-order or pay full price. I simply wishlist any games I see that comes out I'm interested in, and wait for a 75%+ discount to buy, then they join the backlog... And I don't get suckered into any scams, pre-order crap, and games are fully patched and playable by the time I get to them - or mods are out that help with anything I want to do. I encourage all of you to join me to help stop these crappy publishers from their shenanigans.

Started doing this after I pre-ordered biomutant and was incredibly let down. Now I actually spend less on games, and have way higher quality ones. Just a little patience pays off huge! Especially when the gaming industry is pricing low-income consumers out of the market.

Patience can be a great money saver. By effectively keeping myself 2-3 years behind on current games, I'm able to regularly buy games that are still new and exciting for me, but only cost a fraction of their original prices, and often come bundled with DLC...not to mention most of their issues already being patched!

Yeah but... most of the DLC's nowadays are not really good? Like I can think of a few here and there, but generally speaking... I went ahead and tried the "ULTIMATE BEST EDITION" for Assassin's Creed Mirage, and frankly, I could've gotten that version, but the additions to it where so... strange? That I ended up just getting the regular version and enjoying it for what it was.
If you get a game, you don't have to get all of its downloadable content; generally, I think it boils down to whether you really like the game and want more of it, or are you pleased with what the base game has to offer.

That said, I think we're gonna hit a point in the next 10-15 years where AI upscaling/enhancement is going to be so widely available and easy to use that the concept of a remake is going to become entirely pointless since it'll be almost effortless to take any game you want and give it a massive upgrade graphically speaking.

      @VIPER0308 9 месяцев назад

@Astraeus.. I'd pay that, too. I'd love to see Drakengard get some love. Clean up 3 like they did with Replicant. It's not bad (I'm actually replaying it right now). Maybe make it a bit easier to acquire the weapons and the true ending, but I'm torn on that idea.
Same for 1, although ending E (I think chapter 13?) is hell compared to D in 3. I remember it being a slog. Do we still not talk about 2?! Lol. Add it. Then make Reincarnation into a true game and ditch that gacha crap.

Also worth mentioning, if you're a physical game collector, "Buy X for the price of Y" sales at places like Target or Amazon are amazing for getting new-ish games for ~30% off or more, effectively, if you pick the right games to buy. All of my surviving elderly 70+ Native relatives were in one here in Canada. I grew up knowing people that endured those "schools". So I guess I am happy for you Avatar isn't culturally relevant to you, but to me, it is a means by which to tell my people's story through the lens of sci-fi with many parallels to real life issues that still affect First Nation/Native American people and is quite culturally relevant to me.

in my opinion, a lot of AAA games have finally just gotten WAY too expensive to be feasible AND increasingly mediocre.
They used to be $30 ten years ago. When they hit $60-70, that was the breaking point in my opinion but fine. I'll still pay for games like lies of P.
But now it's like every company thinks it can churn out mediocre garbage for $70-100. At the same time, development has become so democratised that some indie dev is making your dream game and selling it for $20. Meanwhile, truly fantastic games like Elden Ring and BGIII are still selling for $60.
The bubble will burst, and i'm here for it. We're at the point where a game will be 40% off on sale *and* i'll get a 33% discount coupon on that and THEN it's like 30-35 dollars, which is what a game should be. And I'll still look at most AAA games and think

AAA games already had been 60 bucks ten years ago - you´ll have to go back about 16+ years for lower prices.
The weird thing that changed however is that they now want 70 bucks for a game, but started giving between 60-80% off usually at most half a year after the game released 5 years ago and keep that tradition. Something that they started with all the subscription passes for all their games as the games essentially aren´t really worth that much anymore due to it, not to mention all the microtransactions in AAA games at this point - the full price is just getting some extra money from the fanbase, which already is nothing compared to the money they make additionally through mtx.
It´s why I stopped even thinking about buying games at full price, I just wait until they´re on sale bundled with the season pass for like 20 and if I keep playing it for long enough and deem it worth it I just top it up by buying some skins.
But talking about that with fanboys is a pain usually, I got a friend thats a Assassins Creed Fanboy and always buys the most expensive edition coming with the figure, which is fair enough if you really want the figure - but he mainly buys it because he thinks he´d be supporting the devs by paying more and if you dare oppose that delusion its getting toxic as hell.

@@KainYusanagiThere's no way that's what they meant. Sure AAA devs have made cheaper games in the past, and Harvestalla should have been one of those, but this guy's making it sound like the price for highly anticipated AAA games in 2014 like Dark Souls 2, Watch Dogs, Smash 4, and Dragon Age Inquisition, were all $30 when they were actually $60.
Hell they were $60 way before 2014. Halo 3 was $60 in 2007, and if you want to get weird, several N64 games were $80.

Question: Why not label the chapters with the actual game name, instead of 'number 1-15'?

Bought Nier Automata for $15 a few weeks ago. I don't remember the last time I bought a game at it's full price, let alone more than $25. I still buy physical preordered copies or wait for those big sales (black friday/cyber Monday is rarely the biggest sale anymore...).

For EA and Ubisoft games, don't forget that there is their own version of gamepass that grants you access to pretty much all of their catalog. So you can play Avatar, Mirage, Motorfest for just 17.99 a month if you think you can finish all 3 of them in that time period. I will get Ubisoft+ in a few days just to play those 3 games + prince of persia and skull and bones when it releases in february to get the most out of that 17.99 dollars. Same for EA games, Star Wars and Dead Space can be played with their subscription service that I think is even included in gamepass ultimate. The regular EA play is 4.99 a month and the plus version is 17.99 dollars. Again, if you feel like you can finish these games in a month, I recommend trying this method to save some bucks, otherwise, look out for the sales. I personally prefer to buy the indie games rather than the ones that are part of these huge publishers.

Alan Wake 2 is on sale until TOMORROW on Epic for $39.99. If you buy either the base game or the Deluxe Edition, you get the Remastered original Alan Wake absolutely free. So it's only 20% off, but free remastered first game.

Currently playing the dead space remake - so glad I checked the store because the sale was insane and I never got to play dead space when I was younger though I had friends who played it and I watched them play and always thought it looked so cool (but also I was scared when I was younger so I preferred to watch lol)
edit: also, Resident Evil 7 and Village has a bundle deal on PS5 for $29.59 where before it retailed for $79.99 (63% discount). Considering you get 2 games for basically $15 each I'd say that's a pretty good deal. Might pull the trigger on that one as well

I feel like we have to talk about what "dirt cheap" means. The games listed are cheaper, but not what I'd ever consider "dirt cheap"
