it's a good idea... but is there a funding study? all three levels of govt are close to bankrupt and our tax burden is quite high. federally for example we now spend more on interest from debt load than canada pays for health care funding. toronto is ofcourse always a shyte show with money.
I don’t think you realize how much car infrastructure costs. Our governments are broke due to financial mismanagement and out of control spending and car infrastructure does not help the situation at all.
It's not "free" - your taxes are paying for it - unless you expect the transit employees to work for free. Montreal's STM had a $75 million deficit last year - the same amount it cost them to give seniors free passes.
Most people don't care if it's free. They just want it to be fast, reliable, and safe.
Reliable, frequent, safe and clean transit that goes where you want to go is how you get more riders, not making it free.
Make all cities to have free transit!
Of course, because you aren't paying for it, eh?
Seniors should have free transit!
Most seniors (61-78) are baby boomers and are the wealthiest generation in the history of the planet. It's the young that need a break.
@@tylerdurden8378Agreed. I live in Waterloo Region and a fare is 3$, but if your low income its 1.50$.
Why?
Means tested is best, in my opinion. Lots of seniors are comfortable; lots of disabled, unemployed, and younger people are not.
This is unnecessary. Just make more public transit available. Its already cheap. Much cheaper than owning a car.

There's no such thing as free. Someone's paying for it
If someone paying for it. It is free for you Rider or passenger.
Maybe we should just get you to pay for all of it. It’s a win for everyone.
