Thanks for sharing! The one thing that keeps me going back to TAG is exactly what you did several times throughout the video, check the DIG report! I submit a lot of cards under $100 raw and X is the perfect window for the way I collect. The last thing I want on a slab is some random 943 number, but that's just my opinion! I also have no problem with using multiple grading companies. Consumers have tabbed PSA as the be all end all so if you're looking for the best return, why wouldn't a person consider them? TAG gives me the most detailed information of my grade, is the right price and turnaround and is the best looking on my shelf...again my opinion. That being said, I'll definitely continue submitting to PSA and SGC as well. One quick example. There's currently a card listed for sale that I really want to add to my collection, which used the TAG S service, but I won't buy it because it says 907. I'd much prefer the cleaner look of a 9 that used the X service. I can look on the DIG report if I want to see where any notable blemishes were. Great video and it all makes for some very key talking points in the hobby! I suppose this puts me in the TAG Bot category now!
I do love DIG/DINGS reports! Knowing exactly why my card earned the grade it deserved is nearly priceless! That rapid change, and no more free SUB kits it was turned me off the most. I do value the 3 digit score though, it lets me know where I stand with other cards that are same print. There is no doubt about it… TAG does have best looking Slabs in the market. So if you get the X level, does it at least have the 3 digit number on the dig report? I get both sides now. At first I wasn't crazy about the 3 digit number on the case. It reminds of the old sgc grading. Well, is it in an 8 or 9, no it is a 88. Keep it simple and clean. But I do like knowing that number. So I get that to. I like the accountability of knowing why a card got the grade it did.
I do agree with some of your points about change but I will always fall back to what are the current grading options. At this point you send to PSA who is more interested in growing to go public on the backs of all collectors and very little about moving the hobby forward with tech improvements. TAG on the other hand is making strides to innovate so I will take my chances (and hard earned money) and spend it with a smaller company trying to innovate over a lazy one that you can keep on resubmitting until you get what everyone is yearning/crying for - a gem mint 10. 🎉🎉
Don’t get me wrong… I love that the human element/graders opinion is removed when using TAG. That fast changes is what turned me off from them. Agreed, they are a small company and they are growing. I fear that once they show they are relevant in the hobby, someone will buy them out. All the investors get a good return from the buy and then there is no more TAG. Just my opinion though.

I came around 180 on X because they’re rolling out “click to upgrade” options for X to S. They eventually want to do away with printing the 3 digit score on the slab. X and S will simply live via the website. The downside: all slabs look the same. The upside: being able to upgrade a X with a flawless DINGS to S with the click of a button and a small fee. The slab won’t need to be resubmitted. This means you’ll be able to grade all of your cards for $12, then cherry pick which to upgrade to S. Also, this adds a marketing aspect to serve the gamblers in the hobby. You’ll be able to sell them X slabs just so they can gamble on ruling the leaderboards. Anywhoo brother, Im being sincere when I say you’re missed. Your video of resubmitting those cards comes up from time to time. We all hope to see you again. Cheers mate!
Hey Sean! Honestly I miss that Discord group! There were a few bad actors in there who wouldn’t hold a debate/conversation and that irritated me a little… don’t get me wrong, I was no saint… I lost my cool in the Town Hall meeting (sorry about that) “Click to upgrade” sounds really interesting and intriguing! There is a very good chance I would start submitting to TAG again if they only had the one option, and part of that option was to pick what “10s” I wanted to see the score on. I wouldn’t unlock a score on a 9. Dude, that Griffey won’t ever leave my collection or possession! I was gifted to me, and I would never sell a gift! That has to be bad luck or bad karma to sell a gift. Every collection should have the UD Griffey Rookie in it… mine has a small story that accompanies it that I can share about how there a great people in card collecting communities! I agree.. Tag X is a mess and completely ruined their biggest advantage in grading. I am still slabbing my PC cards in TAG S though - but not doing anything I'm going to sell in TAG anymore.
You have to remember as a new smaller company you will do a lot of trial and error to find out what works best for your company and your customers so I would say just be patient and let them work everything out because that’s exactly how I started with my Perfume business, it was trial and error and I changed my labels and Bottles style so many times until I finally found what was perfect

I agree with your assessment. I haven’t used TAG, but am ready to make the leap. However, once TAG charged their TAG to TAG S, it ruled out using TAG for lower priced cards. I have a few cards that I want to grade using TAG S, but every time I check the website, the S service is “sold out”. Now, I’m seriously thinking about not using TAG because I don’t know if their business model can be sustainable with these changes. Almost everything that TAG advertised and set them apart from other grading companies is dissipating. People that didn’t like the 1000 point grading system probably won’t be using TAG X either. I haven’t heard anyone saying now that TAG has changed, let’s use their TAG X service.
You can resubmit your Tag X 10s to Tag S for $25 and you'll get your 3 digit score. So basically, use Tag X to pre-screen your cards. If you get 10s...you can resubmit the X to S. So only pay the Tag S regrade for the Tag X 10s.
I feel they went to TAG X to get more cards in and out of the door for more money, I get it it’s a business, but to much change to fast pushed a lot of people away.
Totally agree with everything you said. I did two Tag orders before they came out with Tag x and haven’t sent any since. I love the Tag slabs but I had a tag 10 Aaron judge I can’t give away no one wants to pay even PSA 9 price and with Tag prices going up it makes no sense to use tag grading adds 0 value to your sports cards
I agree with everything you said in this video. I was thinking the same things. TAG caught my attention with their original way of grading and now I will not use them at all unless they bring the TAG-S pricing back to where it used to be. I can understand removing the free shipping kit, that had to have cost them a ton of money to do it that way, but TAG-X and the price increases killed it for me. So, as of now, I am using CGC exclusively until TAG makes some good changes, but it doesn't look promising.

Honestly before TAG, I liked the CGC slabs the most, but the way TAG has there Slabs is top notch. I think TAG_S is going to go away all together unfortunately 😢. The TAG X was needed for the market. While some collectors like the detail, the market has shown the overwhelming majority want a simple one number score. For TAG to survive and be relevant this was the right move. CSG does the same thing but their cases aren’t as nice and their grading faces the same inconsistency problems as other companies who don’t use automated machine grading.
@@paper_and_chrome there is still a large following who only want TAG_S. On the TAGs page then TAG_S option sells out instantly anytime they open it up. TAGs use of penetration pricing worked very well to break into the niche hobby… but they were quick to change it seems. I gather that TAG_X has most likely garnered the TAG brand much more money which in turn makes the investors happy. Also, even though if you cannot get the tag S when you get the tag X, it gives you the ding reports so you can compare each cards. Ding reports to each other to see which one is actually the better grade card without having those three digit numbers from tag S. At least they give you the option to see exactly what is wrong with each card.
The ding reports or “graders notes” are something I love about TAG. Makes it easy to see what I missed. I just don’t like the rapid changes and price fluctuations is all. Thank you for watching and commenting!
I recommended they just do an S type service except if you have a 9 or 10, then bump to an X type service and upcharge. Who really cares how good your 8 is? There's a competitor to Tag now called Arena Club. Very similar service and style.
My biggest issue with TAG is that they are creating a new grading standard. Example a PSA10 is a TAG8/9. With the price hikes and all their new additional fees they are close in cost to a subscription based PSA. What is the motivation for me to stay? Ive had 4 submissions with TAG and only sold 2 of those cards. The price of grading with them isn't worth the return on investment
very good point. i am also a fan of TAG concept. But the change isn't good. S level should be cheaper to gain market %. Especially not a lot people trust in TAG slab now. TAG X should not exist if you eant to do something different than others. And TAG is trying so hard to promote their custom photo slab, it is off the point...... eventhough i like the idea. they should concentrate on the TAG S, and tell people why choose TAG. they have good designer but not a good story teller.

There's a pricing option for the three points grade. TAG will be the best. PSA OFFERS NO EXPLANATION AS TO WHY A CARD GOT A GRADE. also in their fine print, they take no responsibility for their graders or their graders actions. It's a card mill. Graders at PSA are treated like Amazon employees. Unless you send in something super special, their job is to get through as many cards a day as as they can. PSA... Ok for authentication services. Stop sending your cards there.

I made the same mistake and I wasn’t happy at all. X is not worth it. My complaint made it to the owners of Tag and they gave me 15% off on my next order which I’m probably not going to use.

Dude… I was big on TAG but to many changes so fast ruined it for me.

They do standard thickness cards 35pt and some TCG cards with rounded cards. They don’t do any patch cards or “thick” cards
