No longer have those swinging trainer or monkeys bar which was favourites station for those chow NCOs/Corporals to show off to recruits that they could swing from bar to bar by using the hopping method. Ha Ha. But it was truly not easy to do it with the hopping method. Eventually when I moved on to my unit and became a Corporal, I still could not do it their ways 🤣🤣
old one has everyone jump off balancing log and ramp from full height. new ones are watered down. and has a lot of ducking such as tunnel, windows and rubble
Did the low wall become lower? In the old days we ran 600m before we even hit the wall, and another 700m after all the obstacles to the finish line. And still we managed 9 min timings. All that being said, it has to evolve to suit TODAY'S STANDARDS. Although i was Gen.2, meaning we donned camo. stripe THICK AS SHIT NO. 4s and old stiff combat boots and M-16s, I will admit this - We were nothing compared to the pioneer generation's temasek green phase and all they had to go through. Period.
@@SuccessforLifester not just that, we had to swim 100 m in #4 with a dummy rifle, then put on fbo with a soaking wet uniform. Passing time was 52 mins.

My unit that time was below 8m 30s to pass.
I was a PTI (1992) and we had to do it with FBO, and 3.5 km run after that.
@@wnose wow that sounds very tough

@@wnose Wah.. sorry did you leave out some information on the subsequent running or route march?
The redesigned course looks easier to pass and also has less running before and after the obstacle
Also considerably lower landing stress due to lower heights. A welcome change.
@@wnose So is it true that it is easier? I only did the old course and never do the new course before
@@SuccessforLifester don't know. I Rod in 94.
@@wnose For PTI during NSmen, are they posted to infantry ?
@@SuccessforLifester everywhere. My batch got posted to scdf, bmt, armor, navy, sada, OCS, infantry
Original is the best....modified SOC sucks!!!
Kindergarten compared to the old one. But the old one caused too many injuries.
It's peacetime, no need for lifetime injuries
