I have a black and white picture of my mother and I trying on hats in a ladies department store in Nashville from the early 60’s . I had a black and white print made of it and hung that one in the bathroom. I love it in there!
It looks lovely! My favorite things are the metal touches: the mirror with those beautiful sconces, towel racks, drawer pulls, and plates. That shower curtain is gorgeous too! You pulled it all together beautifully, as usual. Thanks for taking us through the ideas and process.
I would stick with the same mirror and make it "look" like it is hanging from the same blue velvet ribbon you used for the curtain!!! The mirror just ties in all the gold accents so lovely and having a pop of that blue ribbon (or wider version) would be so stunning! I love the paint color in the room, fresh yet warm.
Darling, I wanted to express my genuine admiration for the comprehensive transformation you've accomplished in the bathroom. Every detail, including the choice of paint color, resonates exceptionally well with me. Your keen sense of design and attention to detail truly shine, making the entire space aesthetically pleasing. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🙋🏻♀️❤️
I really enjoy the calmness of the paint and how it allows other things like the beautiful shower curtain pattern to shine and not be overwhelmed. I’m also really glad you mentioned that nobody showers in this bathroom. I hadn’t caught that before and was always so interested that there was art hung above the tub like that but now it makes more sense ☺️
I added a Calamityware platter above my upstairs commode. I love it! I am updating my bathroom vanity with Restore It ( it works) and will be restoring my 100 year old cast iron tub. Thank you! One thing I put in years ago was a ceiling mounted shower curtain track. I ordered the shower curtain to the correct length, so my shower curtain extends to the ceiling. It is so elegant and visually clean. I ordered from TRAX. I see so many more options on Amazon now. I saw one around a claw foot tub on Pinterest, it was beautiful.
I LOVE EVERYTHING!!! ❤️ I am just beginning to refresh my bathroom, and you gave me some great ideas. One thing that I'm doing and am really excited about...There are 60 to 70 year old trees that are seen from the window wall. (It's very private.) We are installing a clear glass window instead of the frosted one, and I purchased a wall mural of large trees for that wall. (Especially during the winter) there will be a sense that the room is just open to the outside. (I'm using the existing blinds for privacy when needed, that can be drawn right up to the top of the window and disappear and they happen to be in the perfect colorway! (When does THAT ever happen?) I'll play with ways to soften it when I get to that point. All of the "tumblers" to pull this off just clicked into place. It's a look that will truly be site specific 😊
It all looks beautiful, I absolutely love the shower curtain. I love toile. I loved the towel bar also.I would have loved to see wallpaper in your room, too. I think you could use some more color in the room, maybe more color in the wall art or towels. I loved the blue mirror. These are just my thoughts, but it's your room, and if you love it, then that's all that matters. I always look forward to your videos. Everything always turns out lovely.
Love it!!! That shower curtain is gorgeous! I live all of the details and I like that you decorated it with elegant touches that are not necessarily typically found in a bathroom. Those things elevated the look. 💗💗💗
It looks lovely “just” painted! It would look different but also lovely with fantastic wallpaper. Maybe by the time you decide on a wallpaper and get it delivered, you’ll be more ready for the relaxed feel of the bathroom to ramp up a bit with wallpaper? It’s down to personal choice 😊 and you are a great “chooser!”
I can imagine a painted mural in your bathroom… something serene , possibly pastoral in muted tones. When I think of France, this is what I picture and what I love most when visiting France.
@@SheHoldsDearly Etsy has some mural wallpaper which could be as a way to try out a design. Last year I stayed in a place in Bologna, Italy which had fragments of very old fresco paintings on the walls. For me, there is something transformative about living with this type of wall painting.
Sarah, beautiful! I am going for a bathroom refresh and wondered if there was a rule as to how to match "fabric" patterns with the size of the room. Your shower curtain fabric isn't too much for that size room and it is so calming. Also, I was blessed to know about covering the plates back in the '80's - oh my!
You really knocked it out of the park with this curated style. A little bathroom envy ma'am. Thanks for including sources. That towel ring is going on my wish list.
Love the ideas for your Bathroom , it all looks very elegant. I have a picture of a Cornish beach in my bathroom as it reminds me of all the happy holidays my family have enjoyed there. I also love to have the odd plant or two as I love bringing the outdoors in!
I just ran across my B&W grammar school class photo that I wanted to put on FB. Never thought of framing it for the bathroom! Thanks for the inspiration.
I love this! Giggled at the switch plate covers. 😂 I had the urge to find some gold or brass ones & felt overwhelmed looking for some… then realized duh- I could just paint them! It’s becoming amusing how many things I’ve changed in my home with simply paint. 😜
I have wallpapered all three bathrooms in my house for a few reasons: 1. They are small enough spaces that I can splurge on the wallpaper because I don't need that much of it; 2. The goal is to make them quasi-refuges so that when you are in them, they envelope you (figuratively speaking!); and 3. Since the fixtures are one solid color, the wallpaper brings contrast to the rooms. You are the absolute expert but looking at your beautiful bathroom, I just think it could use something on the upper walls.
The bathroom is lovely. I loved how you use the ribbons on the shower curtain. Have you ever thought of using rub and buff on your shower curtain ring? My first thought when I saw it was that it would look so beautiful if it was a brass color.
Sara, the bathroom is crazy beautiful. Tres Chic!. You've done a fantastic job. Love the hardware, the fabrics. Waffle towels are the best. Their durability is unmatched. Again, tres bien! So serene and welcoming. Most of all, you have shown that bathrooms have uber artistic potential...very European. I would be living in that bathroom and with kids, you might want to use a timer.
I have one of those wall decorative pieces the one you thought was your first find. Don't remember its original color but painted black as my house mostly black and white. Sometimes put flowers in even if only baby's breath.
Sarah I adore your bathroom, really appreciate your tips. Just wondering how high you have the board and batten? I’m going to put it in my bath renovation. Thank you ☺️
Hi Sarah! Your bathroom is just beautiful! You know you can get non glare glass for your photos and artwork, though it is more pricey. I would just worry that over time your artwork will be damaged due to moisture in a bathroom even if you don't shower. I love the velvet ribbons you used on the shower curtain. It's those little details that make such a difference and you are so good at that! oxJulia
I would love more instruction on how to hang prints without glass. how to make them not look wavy or stay in place better, etc. like do you need to attach them to some sort of thick backing? I wish I could get real paintings, but they are so expensive so it’s just prints for me for now.
Love the upside down mirror idea. Do you need to worry about moisture having an negative affect on your art work? Also moisture can have a effect on the velveteen ribbon but I do lover the shower curtain choice.
I love ALL accessories in your bathroom . I think 🤔 you don’t need wallpaper. The shower curtain is awesome 🤩 question 🙋♀️??? Is it blue or mauve? I may order it but will wait to see what colour yours is. Very very exciting bathroom. You must be proud ❤
Please put down something to secure the bath matt. My mother in law used one similar with out something to stop it from slipping and slipped on it and fell onto the toilet and broke nine ribs. Beautiful, I would love wallpaper on the top portions of the wall. Have you ever seen the Sense and Sensibility with the guy from Downton Abbey? I would do similar paint on the wood in your bathroom that they had in the cottage they moved too.
I think so! I've heard some mention that it might start wearing off a bit with use - so I'd do a base spray paint in a color you wouldn't mind seeing peek through!
I used rub and buff on a tabletop mirror in my bathroom. the mirror only gets an occasional use-mainly decorative and the finish is wearing off. So not sure about using it on a switchplate d/t moisture and frequent touching of it. Perhaps if it was sealed?
Very elegant. I love it. In thinking of wall paper, what about a monchtomatic print. It would add texture to the wall, but not fight with the shower curtain. The wall where the sink is almost says "what aboutme?"
Yay, to the idea of wallpaper!!!!! I was very disappointed in the last video to hear that you decided against it. I don’t think every bathroom would look good with wallpaper, but I really think in your bathroom it would be quite charming.

Brookline is absolutely the very best linens. Bedding and bath linens cannot be beat.
We've been enjoying ours!

Lavender and sagey hues evoking soft soothing scents; good choice of artwork and frames.

I love waffle weave towels. Got mine from IKEA. Light weight so washing and drying more economical and have good absorption.
Yes, and they have such great visual interest!
I love the towel bar and the picture of your great aunt is perfect ❤
Thank you!

What a lovely result, calm, soothing, and full of personal treasures❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
I would leave the mirror as is… it’s lovely and beats any of the other options.
I love the hook rack where you hung the towels!
Thank you!
I love the paint with those beautiful drapes! Forget wall paper.
Me too!!

Thank you for tip for painting your switch plate. I needed that for my own master bathroom. I just felt it needed something and that is it.
I bet you'll love the updated look!

Thank you for walking us through your thinking process and including what didn’t work. It saves us a lot of time and materials👍👍
You are so welcome!
Such a pretty bathroom, Im excited to use some of these ideas. Your dress is so feminine and pretty as well
Thank you!! 😊
I bought a condo build in 1975. In the attic were the original towel bars. They look very similar to what you have. Very nice😊
Very cool!

Love evoking happy memories in our spaces!
The shelf mimics the tub edge too.
Great observation!
Beautiful , beautiful linen too ! Still liking walls as they are now…🙂 Brooklyn is a great brand

So beautifully decorated, and I agree 100%! Good towels are just as worth every penny & investment as our quality LUXE bidet!! 😌💗

Yes, paint is such a quick & easy option for so many things!

It looks beautiful. I love the Brooklinen striped towels. I wish i could afford them!
They sure are lovely!
I did spray my plastic outlet covers. I sprayed them black.🖤 Great Minds.🥰
Yes, an easy update!

Go for it!
This vedio is perfect timing I'm in the process of powder room makeover, thank you so much ❤️ 💖
Perfect!
Thanks for the idea of spray painting the light covers. I need to do this!! The white covers look blah.

Yes to waffle towels!! The ribbons look great! Such a pretty refresh. I dont mind the paint. Do the photos warp without glass frames?
I haven't had any problem with photos warping - we run the exhaust fan when we're bathing!
I love it all!
Thank you!
Wow! It's lovely!
Thank you! 😊

We run the exhaust fan and that does a good job protecting items from moisture!
It's beautiful! What color are the walls? I really like them.
It's Sherwin Williams "Aloof Gray"

❤ Sarah, do you think rub and buff would work on the switch plates? I was thinking of doing that.
I’ve done mine w spray paint the. Rub n buff on top. Also a gold leaf metallic pen works :)❤

Yes, I'm still brainstorming some wallpaper options and waiting for the last samples!
Beautiful shower curtain.
I am loving it, too!
That was very inspiring
I'm glad you enjoyed it!!! :)
Very pretty
Thank you! 😊
It is beautiful. If you do add wallpaper, are you adding it to the walls or the ceiling or both? What are your thoughts on that? Thank you
I'd be going up the whole wall, and a bit onto the ceiling, too!
@@SheHoldsDearly I love it! I think it would be so pretty

Thank you!
Beautiful ❤

I love looking at photos of relatives while sitting on the throne.
Then you're in the right place! ;)
Please let us know how you will age your faucet . I have one like that but for the kitchen and it’s lacquered. Too shiny for my taste .
Wallpaper would have looked lovely in your bathroom but I prefer it painted too 😊
Thank you!
Perhaps a very quiet wallpaper would be a great addition above the board and batten.
