Thank you for the tutorial. I watched this on the beach before I kayaked in the Bahamas 🇧🇸 Never kayaked before but felt confident enough to go far out in the ocean. Even say a stingray and got out dodge after that. Thank you 🌊 😂❤
Good to see you man! You helped me paddle board two years ago. I couldn’t master standing up and gave up. I spent 100% of my paddle board time on my knees basically kayaking it. This year I am kayaking! It’s great to already know the strokes to some extent and body movement, etc. Kayaking is more for me. Thanks for every video and all your help. This video also covered things 90% don’t on RUclips! I enjoy it. Aloha!!!!
Stoked, thank you for the feedback. Just get out on the water and have fun, it does not really matter what you use, whatever floats your boat as they say. If you can't stand up on a SUP, the board you used was probably not wide and stable enough for you. With the right board, almost everyone can stand up in calm conditions with a bit of coaching and practice. Aloha!
Watching this video after trying (and failed) to use a kayak paddle on a sup board. Now I realize I was using it backwards. SUP paddle is concave side to front, kayak paddle is concave side to back.
Going kayaking with friends this Wednesday for the first time, this video was very helpful and informative, feel more confident now. Thank you good sir.👍
Just bought a sit on kayak ….dying to try it but need life jacket and prob a wet suit first possibly !! Great informative video which I’ll be watching again
Brilliant video, answered many things I wondered about! Am new to kayaking and I've got the bug for it! I've got an old piranha 'sit-in' style and it rolls like anything! No flatness or detail to create suction underneath. Looking for a 'sit on' now, but some of these tips will come in very handy to help stabilise the boat.🙏
In a sit inside kayak your center of gravity is a bit lower, so that helps with stability but a sit on top is easier to get on if you do fall out. But yes, some kayaks are very tippy which takes practice. Make sure to always use your paddle to brace.
@@blueplanetsurf That makes sense, it did feel as though i was getting more feedback from the water, like one does from a racing car compared to an everyday car. I noticed that the kayak seemed to prefer being on a left or right slant than in a virtical alignment, and thought this was a fault with the boat, but I've just viewed instruction videos which seem to call this 'secondary' stability, and is quite natural for a sit in? I just couldn't figure out how to incorporate smooth, continuous forward, stream line motion without cambering off to one side. One question if you have time: the snug fit of a 'sit in' creates claustrophobic anticipation of rolling and being stuck in kayak, does the submersion in water aid our escape from the vessel? Or hinder it? Obviously for experts a complete roll is the most efficient way, but I just wanted putting at ease. Thanks for all your hard work that accelerates our understanding massively.
Sorry, about the delayed response, I just saw this. I learned to whitewater kayak at a young age and was freaked out about what would happen if I flipped, especially when using a skirt - would I be stuck? Luckily we practiced this in calm water and it's actually quite easy to slide out of the cockpit, you just push yourself out with both hands and slide out and yes, it's easier to do this underwater upside down than you would think, as long as you know what to do and don't panic.
@ Blueplanetsurf, great content. Where do you suggest for beginner swimmers to start with this water sport? In retrospect, I mean being in the space of calm body of water not having to worry about water streams or up beat tides..
@@blueplanetsurf , thx for yr response n suggestion. I'm looking forward taking a swimming class for the winter, so I can prepare to this water sport for 2025 Summer..I will keeo you posted..
You can lay your body across the kayak as if you are getting back into the kayak from the water, as in this video: ruclips.net/video/jsw8ejUFEaw/видео.html
Just took my CK1 out for the first time. I have Aqua Bound Tango paddle, 240cm. Well, I got drenched. My paddle dripped all over my arms, upper body and legs. My rear tankwell was full of water. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks
Yes it’s a good recreational kayak for paddlers under 210 lbs. if you plan to kayak long distances, a longer kayak will have more glide and better tracking
I think safety should have been mentioned like how to get out if you flip and what safety gear to wear. Just a kind thought as these things matter and being informed takes away anxiety! Thanks, Joy
Wow... Lighten up. Way to shame a guy for trying to help people. I'm sure you're perfect, and I have no doubt your kids will need years of therapy after being raised by a malignant narcissist.
I’m looking forward to my 1st time kayaking today and this is simple and makes it less scary of falling in the water
Great. Have fun! 👍😎💪
The best uncomplicated introduction to kayaking. Most of all be safe and have fun...

Glad to hear it but I would not go too far out in the beginning, better safe than sorry.
What a terrific video! This is exactly what I needed...so thorough and easy to understand. Thank you!!

Calm, protected waterways are best for beginners. Wear a life jacket and work on your swimming skills to be more comfortable in the water. 🤙🏼

Great stuff!
Glad you think so!
Way more needed for like family trips.

Thank you heaps for this

Hello. How do you get into the PE kayak alone, from a high bank, jetty, or on a bank with deep water where you can't stand next to it in the water?
You can lay your body across the kayak as if you are getting back into the kayak from the water, as in this video: ruclips.net/video/jsw8ejUFEaw/видео.html
Just don’t try to stand on the kayak
Thank you! I went kayaking for the first time today and this really helped! I could steer away from the alligators and manatees.
Haha, perfect!
what paddle size should i use for sit on top 3.5 metre kayak ? beginner.
230 cm length is a good size for adults.
Thank you, but where is this place ?
This was filmed at multiple locations on Oahu 🤙🏼
Where is that place it is amazing
Most of the footage was shot at Dukes Lagoon in Waikiki by the Hilton Hawaiian Village
What kind of kayak is that? I’m looking for something relatively short
This is the Blue Planet single sit on top kayak, for specs, please see the description in this video: ruclips.net/video/U4frHDhEEp0/видео.html

Does your kayak paddle have drip rings? If not, get some and position them so they keep the water off your arms and out of the kayak.
is this a good kayak? I am thinking to buy one.

Went out for the first time today, tipped over 6 times, felt vey tipsy.
try to find some smooth, calm water to get the feel for it and use your paddle for bracing to find your balance, it will become easier with practice.

Lol if u can’t see without glasses and there r no prescription goggles u gotta. Be serious on not falling 😅
Yes, or use croakies, or other floating straps, better to see something.
Very helpful video, thanks. what's up with that bulge
Thank you. I’m not sure what bulge you are referring to??
and don't buy kayaks shorter than 10 ft or you will zig zag as you paddle just as he is doing
Yes, a longer kayak will track better, no doubt.
You should be ashamed of yourself teaching beginners to kayak without a life jacket ...Always safety first!
You are right, that was an oversight 🤙🏼
@@blueplanetsurfthank you for sharing the tips. Going Kayaking on Saturday.
