As a Finn, I don't fully agree with this "top 10" list. Top 5 was pretty good but I was expecting to see places 6-10 consist of Amorphis, Wintersun, Battle Beast, Beast in Black, Sentenced, Charon, The 69 Eyes, HIM, Suburban Tribe, To/Die/For, or Poets Of Fall. And I think Hevisaurus deserves a mention of its own; it's a metal band for children. After checking out those other metal bands from Finland, maybe check Hevisaurus song called "100" which has official video on RUclips (which only has English subtitles if you click the CC button)? It's the 100th song by Hevisaurus and has a lot of guest appearances from other Finnish bands.

I have just learned that Finland is the country with the most metal bands compared to the population worldwide. If I remember well 905 metal bands (this number may have changed meanwhile). Metal in Finland is as popular as pop is in other countries.

Nightwish is the most succesful finnish metal band globally. Impossible to say which band is the best, since we have sooo many technically very talented musicians and so many bands. Depends on the genres you like, or the vibe.
I think every band there deserves their place somewhere around there, but there are a few names missing that I would personally put higher than some of the entries at the bottom end. The top 3 is pretty much solid as stone. I personally think Mokoma and Wintersun should def. be in the list above Finntroll and Ensiferum, but that is just a personal take. For me Amorphis has been the #1 band for ages. However, internationally there is no doubt Nightwish isn't the #1. Also, in case you wanted something else but power or symphonic metal, I would have put HIM further up on the list and introduce Swallow the Sun.
Most of these are my absolut favorites and I've seen them all live atleast twice, some even more than 10 times. so those Folk/melodic death etc. are sub genres in metal genre, think Game like Skyrim, it is adventure RPG, thats saying its metal in this example, then we have nordic themes, taht is sub genre, tolkine creatures, thats also its own sub genre. So to put it more simply, its is guiding words of what style of metal band is playing, is ist more melodic, more agressive etc. you cant think it like term EDM (Electronic dance music) you would not compare Rave song to techno, and techno to happy hardcore etc. by saing one of those you alredy difrenciate style of music you can expect to hear from other sub genres, and all these ecsits under same umbarella term EDM as all sub Genres under umbarella of name Metal music.

The word under the band name is the sub genre. It's missing the 'metal' word.
