  • Purchased off Amazon and installed these yesterday and since I couldn't find any install videos for these running boards, I thought I'd share one. This running board is made by Viewpoint and appears to be sold under a few names such as Ionic CXV and TAC CR2800, so this may apply to those as well. I've modified the manufacturer's instructions slightly based on tips from others. Overall, this is a pretty easy DIY and can be completed solo in a few hours. I find these boards add functionality and complement the style of the Toyota Highlander nicely--a real cat head turner.
    Note: Refer to manufacturers instructions for tools and parts required. This video is not Steelcraft official, use at your own risk. Note: Refer to manufacturers instructions for tools and parts required. These boards will also fit several model years, refer to Steelcraft website application guide.

    Excellent "How-To" video. One of the best I've seen. You could do this as a business. Thanks - ordering my running boards today.

    Nice. Should have watched this first before trying to decipher the directions! Easy enough though. For the center bracket, I very loosely installed the bolt plate to bracket with the washers and hex nut then slid the bolt plate into the hole. Saved me many curse words. Worked for my TACs running boards off of Amazon ($220 and an hour or so) for 2016 Highlander.

      Great suggestion on the center bracket, wish I would have thought of that!

    I installed the same running boards on my 2018 Highlander a couple of weeks ago - the center brackets are a b!tch to install and I like your tip to attach it to the running board first! Here's another tip - go to your local hardware store and purchase two m10x1.5mm nylock nuts and use them along with the flat washers (ditch the lock washers and regular nuts from the kit). That's one less washer you have to install in that tight space! :)

    Greg I am looking at the item on Amazon . Is the manufacturer item number STX100 132800?
    or TAC T200-A3C2800?

      Hi, yes, the one I used is Steelcraft STX100 #132800

    GOOD video - Do you have any idea if the installation process is the same with the SteelCraft STX100 Running Boards on a 2021 RAV4?

    • @greghicks7785
      @greghicks7785  2 года назад

      Not sure. I would imagine the overall process is the same, but the brackets and mounting hole locations might differ.

    I seem to have 6 extra 10 mm flat washers and lock washers. There are 10 10mm bolt plates to hold the brackets but the parts list provides 16 10 mm flat and lock washers? Did I miss a step?

      You’re good. I had the same amount leftover. Just extras from the manufacturer in case the stray cat eats some.

    no ideal for canada or northern states though. since they sit tucked in , salt and snow will get stuck there and rust the unibody frame

    How are those running boards holding up today?

    • @greghicks7785
      @greghicks7785  3 года назад +2

      Still holding up great. No bending in the decks. Only some slight weathering/ UV fading of the rubber pads which is remedied with an occasional spritz of Armor All.

    Your music is annoying, but the cat at the end iscute. More cat, less repetitive music!

      Totally agree. Originally I wanted to go with Kraftwerk's Autobahn, but didn't want to get sued for copyright infringement.
