I find going 1 tc the yoshiro feels best in military production but later or multiple tc when wood is plentiful forge gold is better.

Actually Japanese is the civ that ppl (including me) love playing and AOE4 data shows it. I think your view might be biased bc you cast 🌎 top players and winning/rank is more important to them than fun. If you look at AOE 4 world, in raw count of games Japanese is the most played in almost every level and overall. English is only one that's competititor. If you filter on the website, it's "only " conquerer IV where Japanese is NOT the most played. Not arguing Drongo, I like you :)

It's like the Rus player just refuses to make a real push. He kept cleaning up the Japanese forces and then...just chilled in his base.
Drongo mate I like your casts but I have one suggestion/critique at the beginning of the matches, mostly, but not exclusively you go totally in to tangents. I would love if instead share some of that vast knowlegde and make a summary of the civs playing, a map description and how might play out. Don´t take me wrong you do it here and there but would be interesting in a more tightly manner.

I think eventually, the meta for the late game will include regular forward villagers, to get value by attacking siege, quick walling, building outpost and production building, adding arrow fire, torching down walls in undefended areas, etc.
However, that tactic is so attention heavy, I think even top level players will take a lot longer to be able to use that effectively while gold is still relatively plentiful, especially as their unconsious would need to become able to handle the monotonous tasks themselves to free up thinking power. So it wouldn't really be a misplay to not use them right now.
I think both players played really well this game.
what is Rus general strength, i started playing them to tower troll but dont really know what makes them strong yet, is it the extra springald range? the warrior monk?
Early knight, several siege advantages, good civ for grabbing relics, good early/mid game base defense from militia
Cheap handcannons, early knights, siege, passive gold and really strong food income.
Good in feudal, strong early economy, Kremlin is one of the best landmarks.

I've played Rus since launch and I love the civ. As a player, I love the early game Bunti system. Every other civ has such an boring early game. Literally 5 minutes of just gathering sheep and building villagers every single game. As a player who moved to AoE4 from 10 years of Starcraft2 where games can be over in 5 minutes the early game is very repetitive and stale. This game is a good example. when in a macro game, bar a few minor scuffles/harassment over the boar there was basically no action for the first 14min. Bit meh to both watch and play. I do however love the game, its the first AoE game that I've actually enjoyed playing and I put it down to Rus. Probably would've reverted back to Starcraft without the civ months ago. Hoping to see them cast some more but I understand your frustrations with the audio on your videos RE wolves. I don't even register it anymore after a few years of playing them

200/200 Rus without a single knight. As a Gold Rus main, this was the worst thing I’ve ever watched lol. Dominated for 33 minutes then died because the knight civ didn’t have knights. Wow.
Died building the perfect counter to the Japanese unit. Just too weak compared to Japanese. 50 streets couldn't kill 50 melee units. Just a sad state thr game is in
The Japanese simply ignored economic upgrades, but their economy is stronger than that of Rus'. He also ignored upgrades for infantry, but won by spamming this infantry! This is not how it should work!
Japanese don't have food upgrades and they don't have the same wheelbarrow upgrade so maybe they did have them but they don't display properly.
