‘Frank Ashes’ The Legacy of Frank McCourt Documentary tells us the story about the life of Frank McCourt from his childhood to his death.
With the help of workers from The Frank McCourt Museum in Limerick, Noel Curtin from 'Angela's Ashes Walking Tour'and some Limerick writers as Dominic Taylor from ‘Limerick Writers Center’ and Helena Close help us to relive that cold and humid time with which Frank McCourt described his childhood in his book.
This is a college project I wanted to make about Frank McCourt for the 10th anniversary of his passing and I just would love to share the story with other all over the world.
The documentary was chosen by the Limerick Post to win the award for Best Documentary Film at the LSAD Film & Media Showcase 19 in the Millenium Theatre, LIT, Limerick, Ireland.

I love Frank's books and have enjoyed every bit of video I have found of him interviewed or talking. He's one of my favorite authors of all time, the absolute master of long engaging sentences, and a fabulous storyteller. I miss him. Thanks for sharing this documentary!

I adored this man,and I never met him. One thing that I got a kick out of was that he always claimed that he lacked "charm"...I beg to differ! I found him to be completely charming, and could listen to him talk forever. Pretty sure I'm not alone in this! 😁❤️ RIP Frank McCourt. You are missed.

I've only just read the book and absolutely couldn't put it down! I don't believe people who claim he was exaggerating his account of the life they lived. All the incidents & encounters are recounted in such amazing detail, you couldn't make that up. And I come from a similar poverty-stricken English background & heard all the same stories around the dinner table when I was a kid. My grandparents in the Midlands were were dirt poor & glad to have a 4-room council house with a privy down the back garden. They raised 10 children in that, only 8 of whom survived. Dad said they used to get an orange once a year, for Christmas. A few of my uncles drank the wages away & beat their wives. Their children universally hated them. My father didn't drink thank God, and he was very proud of that fact. That generation has a lot to answer for but they had it tougher than any kid these days could even imagine. It would pay us to remember just how lucky we are compared to 100yrs ago.

I just finished the book Angela Ashe's it's a first edition twelfth print. It's an early copy of Frank McCourt book not the later print with the prize star on the front cover, it doesn't have that it's before his award so it's more rare to have.

Would you turn the music down? It tends to drown out the speaker. Love Frank's books!

How so? Frank is my Uncle, Malachy my dad, Angela is my Grandmother. I helped spread her ashes. We visited the paupers graves where her daughter Mary is buried. I heard these stories all of my life. Do you think all of the brothers conspired to tell lies?
