Yes, once you've ridden a fork with separate LSC/HSC and learn how to use HSC you won't go back. I went from a RS 35 Gold (Domain's little brother) on my previous bike to a DVO Onyx SC on my current bike, night and day difference. The Motion control damper is very chattery over high speed chatter, braking bumps, etc. It also required constant messing with volume spacers to get big hit bottom out resistance and had no appreciable mid-stroke in any setting. The Onyx does everything well, without using volume spacers at all, the HSC works wonderfully for big hits, the LSC and OTT setting can be set up to give you both good small bump compliance and still resist fork dive, and the mid-stroke is exceptional. It rides better than any Grip 2 36 I've demoed, I've not ridden a RS Lyrik or Zeb to compare yet, nor have I been able to try a 38 yet.
You should ride the Select and give it a good go. Most new Enduro bike under 4k come with the Select or a 38 Grip. No one really reviews the OE dampers and people want to know what they got or what their missing. My Select is plush AF and I don't need to sacrifice the comfort like I did on my Lyric RC when smashing.

Thank you so much! I am more the welcome if you want to send a Zebb my way so I can tell the difference lol 😝.! Thank you for the awesome video!!
That would be a fun video!! Concerning your question, personally it mostly depends on the riding application as opposed to comparing a "nicer" fork or not. For example, if I am headed out to ride some gnarly lines, hit some larger drops, ride fast over rooty or rocky terrain, I am grabbing that Domain 10 times out of 10. If I am headed going for a longer pedal, or more of trail ride with less "aggressive" terrain, then I'll grab the Lyrik. That's not to say that 35mm forks can't handle gnarlier terrain, it's just that the Domain does it better and will be more forgiving.
Putting charger dampener in the Domain, if you have one is a cheaper upgrade than a new fork and trying to sell the Domain. One thing that impressed me riding my Zeb is going down a rock face with a step part way down and it’s amazing the way it sucks it up. I have a A2 Ultimate with Buttercups an my wife has a Domain R and I am impressed with the Domain.

Look at the trek rail 7 which comes with this fork Rail 5 with entry fork from rockshox. I'm between beginner and intermediate I don't do anything nuts or jump or drop but want predictability and traction so I think the domain is worth it on the rail 7. How hard is retrofitting the upgraded damper as of hard of need to factor in mechanic install time. Thanks
I currently have a Revelation with 160mm travel, 35mm stanchions and debonair air spring. Don’t have the budget for a zeb but was drooling over it when it came out. I believe my fork also has the same damper as the domain. How much of an upgrade would the domain be and where specifically would I notice improvements? Thanks for any advice
The damper in your fork is indeed the same as the Domain. What will set the Domain apart is, of course, the 38mm stanchions and the stiffer chassis. If you are looking for more support through chunky terrain or on bigger hits, the Domain could be a fine option. If you give us a call, shoot us an email, or reach out on our live chat on our website, we can help you decide if the upgrade is worth it or not further! (360) 306-8827 // sales@thelostco.com
My stumpy has a 44mm offset fork now and i want a 180 travel would I still get a 44mm offset? Also I see you have a zeb ultimate 180mm-44mm in stock!!!! I may want that now!!
That would be a super stiff setup! A short travel fork like that doesn't get the same leverage going through it as a longer travel option so it's not as necessary to have those thick 38 mil stanchions. But the 150 mil Domain is pretty darn close to 140 so that's not a bad option! -Tor
The Domain on a hard tail is a great combo. Unfortunately, RockShox doesn't allow their distributors to sell across international borders. Unless you around Vancouver, or the Fraser Valley, good luck on your search!
That’s a downgrade… fox dampers are miles ahead of RS motion control. The Domain is just a thicker Yari with the same decade old damper rockshox has been using for way too long. My Yari was horrible on braking bumps and big hits because the damper was just not advanced enough (despite being serviced regularly). Then I got a fox 36 performance and its way better and smoother, though maybe a bit less plush, which gives it a lot more confidence to go faster. The problem was never the stanchion size, it’s the shit damper. It’s just a trend to go thicker even though it’s heavier, has more stiction, and makes forks unnecessarily stiff.
@@martonpeintlerkrivan8027 you are probably right about all that. But at what cost? Double the price? And as per the video, it doesn't seem to be the case of what you are saying. So who should I belive? A shop that handles both brands (fox and rs) or some guy commenting on a YT video?
@@rubenvor you already have the fox 36 so it would be at zero cost? also I’ve raced both forks and I have no reason to be biased toward one or the other. Fox simply performed way better. I’m really just trying to help you but if you’re not gonna listen then there’s no point
Does the new charger 3 damper Zeb Upgrade kit fit into a rockshox Domain? I did a similar upgrade (charger 2.1 rc2) to my yari, extended the travel from 160 to 170mm and put some green skf seals in it. Basically its a lyrik ultimate now 🤙👍
My stumpy came with the Zeb Select + fork and I guess it has some weird in between damper, the charger 2.1 RC. Can you tell me the big difference between the charger 2.1 rc and charger 2.1 rc2? Is it just the lack of high speed adjustments that make them different? Thanks!
Charger rc2 has highspeed and low speed compression and the rc will only have low speed compression. That being said, if you don't bother with compression, the damping performance should be equally as supple
@@mt4xcs Performance and Rhythm have both same Grip damper. Only difference is 6000-series aluminium lowers in rhythm. Rhythm is basically OEM version of the Performance. Select+ has same RC2.1 damper as Ultimate, but without HSC and HSR.
@@Pienimusta I meant it more like the Select+ equals the Performance Elite and as you stated the domain = Performance/Rhythm. Mistake on my side, sorry. I haven't really checked out the Fox stuff that much tbh, in Germany a Lyrik Ultimate is ~770€ and a 36 Factory is ~1350€, so not really a reason to think about it.
30mm markhor fork can withstand known 140kg rider on YT doing drops and quite frankly hammering this fork pretty seriously for what it's intended, so you must have those 38mm for mild ride around the park, weighting 85kg, oh yes....
30mm stanchions are really skinny and would scare me on every jump or drop. I can clamp the fork between my legs and twist it, and you can see it flex a lot. No thanks
Or buy a 2021-2022 ZEB select for ~$500 (September 22) and have the capability to upgrade to the 2023 charger 3 damper for about ~$300...if you feel like it. Technically or 2023 internals fit the 2022 ZEBs for that matter.
That's a pretty sweet loophole! You would also need to get the new Debonair + air spring to complete the transformation, but that charger 3 damper is where most of the magic happens! -Tor

My eMTB came with a RS 35 Gold RL and it is OK fork for trail riding and probably work good for a aMTB. I installed a RS Domain RC on my eMTB few weeks ago and night & day different in ride quality on any trail. Big different on the chunky steep trails:) I don't understand why so many eMTB manufacture are selling base level models with the RS 35 Gold RL, instead of the RS Domain RC the price different is $100 retail.
It's because of the price difference, a lot of your eMTBs are going to rental fleets in places like Bentonville, so rental + mostly smooth trails = who really cares.
@@mrvwbug4423 Yea to install a RS Domain fork and add extra $100 to a base level eMTB or aMTB Enduro should be a no brainier for the manufactures. Good to know Bentonville has eMTB rentals:)
Why is people saying u cant upgrade the Domain? I am thinking about getting this fork, right now I am riding a 2017 Pike 160mm (just with rebound and compresión), and belive the Rockshox Domain is exactly what I was looking. I might upgrade the damper next year, but anyway, i belive it should works really good with the motion control. What do u thinkg fam? Is it going to be a good upgrade? (I was thinking about the Domain and the yari, i need to change my fork because my current fork stem is to short, and getting an 38mm for USD600 would be incredible)
I got a new bike my first ebike a Trek Rail 5 about 6 months ago it came with Rockshox Gold RL which has been fair at best. My last bike had a Lyrik and i loved it both are 160. The Rail 7 came stock with a Domain which is what i wanted but a long backorder (wait) so i went this way. Do you believe i should upgrade to the Domain will it be noticeable over the Gold RL. The Zeb a little $.
I'd recommend trying to go in between the price of the Domain and Zeb by getting the Marzocchi Bomber Z1. I personally like the GRIP damper better than the Motion Control damper in entry level RockShox forks. However, the Domain will definitely feel better than the Gold RL you have. It would be more stiff and more plus for sure! You can even upgrade to the Charger 3 RC2 in the future if you'd like, but at that point it would have been better to just save the money initially and get a ZEB Ultimate. -Mike
The main difference between the NEW RockShox Zeb Select+ and Select is the Select+ has the Charger 3 damper while the Select has the Charger RC damper! Hope this clears things up! -Tor
Better and plusher bump absorption on the Lyrik ultimate, but a little less stiff. I’d definitely settle for the Lyrik ultimate if they cost the same or you already have it. Most riders never use the stiffness that the 38mm will give them. If you ride ews you may need it, but the average rider can handle everything with 36mm.
What a shame the domains motion control is now a lock out on off switch. Previous rs forks with the motion control had lots off adjustability.I’m so annoyed
Great question! With out knowing too much more, I think the Lyrik would be sufficient for you. If you are riding very aggressive (hitting big drops, jumps, fast and chunky terrain) then I might suggest you consider the ZEB. It also depends on your bike and travel as well. If you would like to chat further, give us a call, shoot us an email, or reach out on the live chat on our website. (360) 306-8827 // sales@thelostco.com
Yes, it's a fair bit cheaper than the Marzocci Z1, and probably performs almost as well, with 2.1 upgrade it's only slightly more expensive than the Z1 and is night and day better.
I have a question. I wanna build my own downhill bike i allready know what parts i wanna have. The problem is i live in Croatia and we dont have as much options. Is there any online bike builder with many parts like fox 40, magura brakes, trek, yeti, nukeproof, specialazed and other frames, and other well known bike parts, that i could use or any place or shop where i can buy a propper mtb bike? I would like to do my purchase online so that everything comes to my place. For those who wanna know, i have a bergamont hardtail and have been using a cube all suspension enduro bike. Awesome Vid Mike! Zeb U is on my radar when the upgrade comes. I have a Rail using 1.8 / 45mm diameter Steerer tube.. would you guys care that model soon? (Gotta love the new "standards")
Sounds like the rockshox 35 all over again. Worst fork I’ve had the displeasure of riding. If you can’t afford a 38mm fork just buy a better thinner one.
PNW is not as hard on tires as you'd think. Also skinny rider with good line choices can get away with EXO where a bigger rider who just monster trucks would want EXO+ or DD.
I think its just a money grab with all the new names for fork models. Hearing "select model" makes me think of base model cars with hand crank windows.
The Domain sounds perfect for us mongos that just want to smash through the woods without worrying about all the fine tuning involved in the ultimate. 😁
The motion control damper (at least in my yari) totally sucks even my 2017 pike rct3 feels a lot better. Thats why i put the 2.1 charger rc2 into the yari day and night difference
Unless you get paid to race bikes, or compete against those who do get paid, a charger R damper is all you need. 99% of riders would be better off if they just focused on spring rate and rebound
For a sub 200lb rider you're probably right, the default HSC tuning on the R is probably enough. For a 200+lb rider who gets sendy, you REALLY want that HSC setting.
*_Do you think you'd be able to tell the difference between the Domain and ZEB Ultimate?_* 🤔

@@TheLostCo yeah I prefer my zeb select + over my brothers zeb ultimate
Look at the trek rail 7 which comes with this fork
Rail 5 with entry fork from rockshox. I'm between beginner and intermediate I don't do anything nuts or jump or drop but want predictability and traction so I think the domain is worth it on the rail 7. How hard is retrofitting the upgraded damper as of hard of need to factor in mechanic install time. Thanks
I like ramen anyways, but would still try the Domain!
Where do you get the charger upgrade for the domain?

My stumpy has a 44mm offset fork now and i want a 180 travel would I still get a 44mm offset? Also I see you have a zeb ultimate 180mm-44mm in stock!!!! I may want that now!!
Domain with 140 mm would be my ideal.
That would be a super stiff setup! A short travel fork like that doesn't get the same leverage going through it as a longer travel option so it's not as necessary to have those thick 38 mil stanchions. But the 150 mil Domain is pretty darn close to 140 so that's not a bad option! -Tor
If you only had 1 fork you could run on a 170mm enduro bike, with money being no issue, what would it be? Any brand
See it for yourself among these three brands. There's Ohlins RXF38, Fox 38 Factory and Rockshox Zeb Ultimate.
Manitou Dorado
Can you use same charger 2.1 the zeb uses in the domain?
How does the domain compare to the Zeb charger R?
Should I swap gold 35 rl for yari or domain?
Been looking at the domain for my ht but no one had stock it seemed in canada. Might still have to give it a try.
The Domain on a hard tail is a great combo. Unfortunately, RockShox doesn't allow their distributors to sell across international borders. Unless you around Vancouver, or the Fraser Valley, good luck on your search!
@@TheLostCo Sadly I am not. I looked at the marz z1 and the domain and seen you only do shipping in the US. Thank I hope to find one soon
I'm planning on replacing my fox 36 with a domain 👍🏼
I wouldn't, even the Rhythm has a better damper. I'd get the Grip 2 upgrade for your 36
@@rubenvor you already have the fox 36 so it would be at zero cost? also I’ve raced both forks and I have no reason to be biased toward one or the other. Fox simply performed way better. A bike shop will always promote the newest product because they need to make sales. There’s a reason none of those people run the domain on their personal bikes. I’m really just trying to help you but if you’re not gonna listen then there’s no point
Lyrik with Charger RC or Domain with MoCo?
Hello
Is what change for Dartmoor hornet 27.5
Domain 170 or zeb charger r 170 ???
+- one price
Have you guys taken a look at the giant crest 34 RCL? I feel like it would be quite an interesting budget fork to look at
So it is the Rhythm/Performance equivalent?
You could say the Select+ = Performance and Domain = Rhythm
Domain = Rhythm but with a worse damper, Zeb Select = Performance, Zeb Ultimate = Perf Elite/Factory
No
I currently run the Rockshox Totem spring fork, how much of a difference and feel would switching to the Domain make?
A lot of difference
-Tor
Would a charger 3 rc2 fit a domain 2021? Looking to do this upgrade. Any info on this is highly appreciate it.
I bought the Domain RC 150 29 for my 2020 YT Decoy because I hate the low stack height YT Bikes come stock with, I want a longer steerer, and of course a little upgrade from the Yari.
The Domain was a great choice for you and that bike!

Are you going to make a marzocchi bomber 58 review?
-Mike
Hello sir just a question if the travel of domain can be adjusted from 170mm down to 160 or 150mm?thanks a lot
Yes absolutely! Come on over to thelostco.com and we've got the air spring you need to change travel! -Tor
I have always wondered what is the difference between the select and select + RockShox models as neither have the full charger 2.1 lsc/hsc
The main difference between the NEW RockShox Zeb Select+ and Select is the Select+ has the Charger 3 damper while the Select has the Charger RC damper! Hope this clears things up! -Tor
@@TheLostCo yea thanks what about the older 2021 charger 2.1 models whats the damper difference there between select and select +
How would a Lyrik Ultimate, charger 2.1 compare to a Domain in terms of ride feel? As always, informative and entertaining video!
@@rolux4853 Thanks, bud! Already running the Lyrik Ultimate, and thinking of buying a Domain for replacement in case the Lyrik is @ service.
What a shame the domains motion control is now a lock out on off switch.
Previous rs forks with the motion control had lots off adjustability.I’m so annoyed
Zeb ultimate
Hi there, would you recommend a ZEB to a rider who weighs only 53kg? Or is it „too“ stiff and I should stay with my Lyrik? Cheers
Great question! With out knowing too much more, I think the Lyrik would be sufficient for you. If you are riding very aggressive (hitting big drops, jumps, fast and chunky terrain) then I might suggest you consider the ZEB. It also depends on your bike and travel as well. Domain seems like it's gonna be a big seller
We think so too!
Yes, it's a fair bit cheaper than the Marzocci Z1, and probably performs almost as well, with 2.1 upgrade it's only slightly more expensive than the Z1 and is night and day better.
I just purchased the 160mm Domain on sale for $260. I could NOT pass up that price.
Are you able to enter the giveaway if you are from Europe?
Unfortunately due to duties and import shenanigans, we are keeping it local to the US. We hope to be able to expand our giveaways in the future!
I just need to know how u guys get bikes and parts.
Domain stiffness sucks otherwise would be great fork for the price. Next one will be fox 38
Where’s the fox option 😂
A Marzocchi 38mm could be cool, eh?
Perfect forks for 200 lbs + riders
Indeed they are!
Awesome Vid Mike! Zeb U is on my radar when the upgrade comes. I have a Rail using 1.8 / 45mm diameter Steerer tube.. would you guys care that model soon? (Gotta love the new "standards")
Save Zeb selects owners some time. 14:00 & they have never even rode one.
Zeb is best for everyone. Next question 😂
I am one of the few people that need 190mm
Rockshox please make Domain in 190
Sounds like the rockshox 35 all over again. Worst fork I’ve had the displeasure of riding. If you can’t afford a 38mm fork just buy a better thinner one.
Sadly you dont shipp to mexico
We do, but some manufacturers (including RockShox) do not allow their vendors to ship out of their country.
The domain sounds cooler lmao
Burly 38 inch fork and a light sidewall tire ???? That rider might be ok with a pike.
PNW is not as hard on tires as you'd think. Also skinny rider with good line choices can get away with EXO where a bigger rider who just monster trucks would want EXO+ or DD.
+1 sub
I think its just a money grab with all the new names for fork models. Hearing "select model" makes me think of base model cars with hand crank windows.
The Domain sounds perfect for us mongos that just want to smash through the woods without worrying about all the fine tuning involved in the ultimate. 😁
Bingo!

LMAO no. You need compression adjustment
@@RCKING1 let's go ride together and see what you "need"
For a sub 200lb rider you're probably right, the default HSC tuning on the R is probably enough. For a 200+lb rider who gets sendy, you REALLY want that HSC setting.
