I think 1-2 years ago this thing would have changed the world. Small(ish) form factor lots of dynamic range. But in the 2nd half of 2020 with the Sony A7siii, Z Cam, etc. it’s a tough pill to swallow that your spending more and getting less. This is gonna enter a tough market, and more likely gonna be a C cam in Netflix or studio productions. Just a tough time to come to market in my opinion.
Tesha true but Hollywood probably won’t shoot on a Komodo either. Now will they use it as a crash cam? For sure. So for the indie film industry, which this cam is aimed at, my only question is what do you get out of the Komodo that you don’t get out of the competition?
Tesha so my argument isn’t that the Komodo is a bad camera. Trust me I’d happily accept one as a gift😁 my argument was more about the value proposition of the Komodo, in 2020. Yes you get a stop of DR extra then you would in some of the competition, but the price after fully building out the Komodo will also be nearing $10,000 more then the competition. So yes for the indie houses who have the money hell yea go for a Komodo, but my original argument is that the Komodo is entering a harder market considering that lower cost options are closing the technical and qualitative gap that used to be the actual factor for buying a dedicated cinema camera like a RED in the first place.
Tesha for sure there’s gonna be market, no doubt. Personally, I’m just stoked as an aspiring film maker for all the amazing options we have these days, can you imagine two years from now how affordable and high quality everything will be??
Excited to play with my Komodo. Subbed.
the komodo is the baby dragon which is absolutely insane for global shutter and 6k recording absolutely mind blowing
How did such a rad, informative video get so much hate? Keep up the great work bro!
Thanks!
I was wondering the same thing. Can't ever please the internet
where did you get the dtap to komodo cable to run vmount batteries? nice job btw!
Thanks man! A rental house in San Diego called voice and video did the build out!
glad to see that I'm not the only one struggling with the 2k120 of my Komodo! Great video, keep it up!
Nice footage! What lenses are you using?
Thanks! Sigma Art lenses. 18-35mm and 50-100
Why Super35 it's well received for cinema but hated when the option is available in full-frame cameras.
I also want to know
Super 35 is a great size sensor for cinema.
Full frame isn't that great for video mate.
Cause you are not a real DP.
Good first impression. Not sure why the ratio is like that. Just subscribed 🔥😃
Thanks!!
Cool vid, great info. I'll wait for the production model.
Well done bro, looking forward to more contents!
Thanks man!
Hey Bradley! Thanks for the dope video man. Where did you rent your Komodo. A Red cam for 6 grand is awesome. I want to buy two!
Rented it from a place called Voice and Video in San Diego! They have a few there for rent!
@@bradleydunnfilms cool. i saw them on instagram! im going to do it!
What monitor are you using for it ?
It was the Atomos
How was the continuous autofocus?
Didn’t even know it had it hah. Literally didn’t know anything about the camera picked it up and off to the races we went.
Good video and information. Thank you!
How big is the crop when you go to 2k 120?
It’s about a 2X crop. So your 50Mm turns into around a 100mm
ouch, 120 is pretty much unusable 😞
Good video, Komodo looks interesting :)
The green shift of the helium footage is significant :D
Thanks. The water was supppper green that’s day. And i tried to make the BTS footage look worse so it didn’t look like the commercial footage.

100% agree. This camera is about 2 years too late in my opinion. There’s literally no reason to buy it with the new Sony and Canon camera’s.

So magenta in the skin tones.
Interesting grade.
a lot cheaper than the helium, can't wait to get mine
How am I only just now seeing this? Handsome and talented, that’s a yes for me dawg
Hey, how was it to edit on your computer ? Are the files huge or ? thanks!
Hey! Ya you’ll want a pretty powerful computer, RED RAW 6K files are big. Or make proxies
@@bradleydunnfilms what about a 15inch 2019 MacBook Pro, with a radeon pro 555x 4go graphic card, do you think it's okay with that ?
Ya that should be fine
I still have yet to see impressive looking video from this camera, but it's still early.
Agree... But i think this guy did well ruclips.net/video/3Zk8DeC_O7g/видео.html
how much is the crop on 120? like s16?
It’s about a 2X crop so your 50MM turns into a 100mm.
Save your money, kids ...rent it instead
Dave Werner couldn’t disagree more, if it’s the camera you need😂😎
This is the advise I was looking for.
Thanks
Ramon Solorio by that def you need all cams. Just rent it - you’ll be glad you did. $$
Dave Werner too late😎
No regrets 😊
The like ratio of this video is concerning. I thought the content was great.
I call BS on the footage.
lol
You have so bad picture... Helium is as bad as komodo. It's a strange thing. It seams that Sony a7s3 is better than Red.
Helium is shooting 240fps at 2K. Cropped in 4.2X crop from 8k. You lose a lot of image quality
