Although it's not 100% certain, one theory is that when someone is withdrawing from drugs, their skin goes cold, pale and covered in goose bumps - just like the skin of a cold turkey!

We're not 100% sure of your question, but to clarify: Going cold turkey means to stop doing a habit immediately. Rather the gradually stopping doing something, it means that you totally give up there and then. It is an immediate stop to a (usually bad) habit. Does that help you, Christopher?
You can, but this is quite a strong statement. Cold turkey means that you suddenly stopped consuming something addictive, then had bad effects from withdrawal. If you decided to quit, with no negative effects, you could say "I knocked it on the head".

You are right - there is always conflicting information so it's best to follow the advice you trust most and listen to your body.

'To go cold turkey' means to completely stop something, and have to put up with not having it.
