411 - The Youngster Tristan Gauntlet - Training a Team to Level 59 on Route 1 ONLY

- This gauntlet video was one of my summer projects that REALLY got out of hand. I was honestly expecting this to maybe take a week at most, and it ended up taking much longer than that. Despite being one of the grindiest things I've ever done, I'm glad that I managed to complete this. At this point I couldn't imagine what it would be like to do a full level 100 gauntlet on route 1 (without the rare candy/pickup strategy, which I opted not to use for this) in 5th or 7th gen with experience scaling. Anyway, I hope you enjoy, and expect more videos (and another big project) soon!

I wish there was a way to let tristan win and become the champion. After having a visual example of how much effort he would've had to put in, I think he deserves it.

Fun fact: when I was very young and Pokemon blue first came out, i didn’t know how to use HM’s. Didn’t know how to get to Lt Surge with Cut so I levelled my nidoqueen to 64 with low level spearows etc. Fun times. The rest of the game was easy.

I have an idea for a gauntlet. I'm not sure if this is even possible, but leveling a Pokemon to 100 using rare candies from the Pokemiles guy in ORAS. I'm pretty sure you would need to travel 49,500 miles in the game, which would take DAYS of grinding.
There are ways. 1. filling the Pokémon box app fully and transfer said pokemiles(this can be multiplied with multiple systems.) 2. Wonder trade, you get pokemiles based on where you get the trade. 3. The classic method.

I actually did this i got like 50 rare candies. I did that 4 times. 3 in oras, 1 in XY. My hoenn team was around lvl 80 at the final battle

I did this in pokemon leaf green a long time ago because I was stuck in cerulean city. I had a level 64 blastoise that literally farmed the souls of rattata.

I did this back in sapphire with my blaziken while i was procrastinating on going and doing the underwater cavern thing because i kept psyching myself out about the mazes and puzzles and wild pokemon and hms needed and do i have enough escape ropes and repels and oh god what am i gonna do with this level 97 blaziken
I remember in my first Leaf Green playthrough, I battled with my Charizard almost exclusively. So, my Charizard got up to the level 90's while all my other Mons were still like level 15-20. (I was also pretty young at the time) 😂

(I did this a few years ago. Like, I can't remember the exact number, maybe 4 years ago?) I once trained my starter to level 40 in Pearl before talking to the professor again. (He was a torterra at this point.) XD He says something along the lines of 'oh my you've made your pokemon evolve already?' Meanwhile I have this giant turtle island thing behind me XD

I did this once in black 2 I was young and thought I had to have an evolved Pokemon to get to gym 1. So I had like a level 20 Pokemon against level 7-12 gym leader

I wrote a program to try and estimate how long it would take to level up a pokemon to any arbitrary level under any arbitrary circumstances. I'm happy to see that my estimate almost exactly matched your timelapse from level 50 to 51.

Pokémon Unlimited if you want to stay true to the “Tristan challenge”, I don’t think you’d be allowed to catch them. Tristan only has the 5 Pokémon, if he had really caught a shiny (or any sixth Pokémon) it’d be in his team. I don’t think he has anything in his PC.

I did this back in Pokemon Blue 😂 I was a young, determined trainer back in 2003, I trained to have my Charmander evolve to Charmeleon. I battled Brock with a Level 30-ish Charmeleon because I was scared to death of his Onix Bide-ing the shit out of me.

I thought i was good with training my frogadier to lvl 36 before the second gym.
I've been binging this series over the past few days and they're so great to watch, keep it up mate.
Also suggestion, how about training a pokemon to level 100 by only CAPTURING pokemon? (Since gen 6 onwards I think was when they gave exp for catching pokemon rather than only beating them)

This reminds me of the time were I had no clue how to beat the furfru puzzle in pokemon x so I literally grinded on route 7 near the mansion because I had nothing to do and I was able to get my team to about lv 50 or so over the course of two months because I didn't play to much.

I have a couple ideas for exp boosts in sun and moon. You get the rotom powers for exp boost as well as you can thief some chanseys for lucky eggs and give to the lead party member or all of the pokemon you are training

This was the first video of yours I ever saw, and ever since you’ve been one of my greatest inspirations. I really look up to you. So, since youtube recommendations sent this video to me again, I’m going to attempt something similar to this in my ultra sun. Hey, um... Mohn's file is Japanese, not Chinese. And if it is, then his name is still Japanese.

Yeah the pokemon names are chinese but the name is japanese. Japanese does use the same characters as chinese, but I think pokemon names use hiragana/katakana instead of kanji(characters)

that's a mechanic in the game called a Critical Capture! it was introduced in gen 5 and occasionally makes it easier to catch Pokemon in one fell swoop
