Hi Claudia thank you for sharing your thoughts on having children. As a childfree woman myself it’s soo nice to see another woman especially one whose living an inspired life, speak on this topic and hold similar views as me. I too think it’s a beautiful experience for others but as you said we have the self awareness to know that having children is not personally for us. Sometimes I do wish there were more childfree women in the public eye voicing their views so I’m glad you shared, even in the face of possible judgment.

I am so happy you are here and thank you for sharing a bit about you and your experience with not having children in this world. It can feel a bit lonely at times and the judgment can be harsh. But as you said, we knew that having children was not for us, and that is just as ok as knowing you want children. Sending a big hug your way and hope you are having a wonderful week so far

Love your view on being childless. Very unfair for other women to judge. Perhaps they’re jealous & projecting. I’m 31 & at that crossroad. To be fulfilled without relying on another is very strong & more should look at what is truly best for them & not follow the norm aimlessly. I think this generation I’m in is becoming more aware of this

My beautiful sister because that’s how I feel about you because our lives are very similar that I’ve never met anybody that has gone what we went through . I come from a dysfunctional family where I had an abusive mother it was so bad that it has scarred me . We started talking when I was in my thirties and she never apologized to me. Because of everything I went through I was so insecure and made bad choices. Always searching for someone to live me and I allowed abusive people to take advantage of my kind heart . I forgive her because it’s the way I am always forgiving everyone. I too decided not to have any children .
Never felt the urge to be a mother. And I have no regrets. People can be mean they don’t understand that life’s priority isn’t just having children. And with todays society I’m happy with my choice.
My family and I are closer now but when there’s damage it’s tough. Then come to our hubbys again we are very similar we’ve already discussed that. I’m going through a phase with him we love each other very much but sometimes he does stupidity I guess it’s an age thing or maybe just his character . But me being me I accept and am loving and it works I hope forever. I hope your feeling better I love you and I really enjoyed this video ❤️❤️

I am so sorry, to hear you grew up in a dysfunctional family as well, but you turned out to be a beautiful, compassionate, strong and resilient woman anyone is lucky to have in their lives.

Such soul-baring answers Claudia. I completely understand your decision to not have children . There is no law or rule that every woman should bear children in this world and I can’t believe others would criticize that personal decision , it really is none of their business ! I didn’t want children either , until my second marriage my husband had a child and I suddenly had a desire to have one .
It is very sad the way your mom sees things and I commend you for your strength to go on positive and strong and you are that way because of your self - love , your healthy ways that you take care of your body the way you do . You are an inspiration to all your viewers and I love to keep learning from you ! Have a great week xoxo

I don’t think it’s selfish to not have children. It’s so irritating to me that others stand in judgement- raising kids is very hard work. Well doing it properly is - it’s easy to fob kids off to child care all day etc. it’s a long discussion but I admire you for not having children & not feeling you need to do what others think one has to do. Would love a video on living in Paris. Look after yourself sending love, hugs & blessings 🌺

I have 2 adult kids 27 and 24, they are amazing I adore them and we have an amazing relationship. That said, I advise them to think a million times if they really really want children because I personally think having children IS selfish, and it's not the way around. Women should be free to pursue whatever they want, career, traveling, freedom, or whatever, instead of being socially pressured to have kids. Society should flip the question and ask: are we entitled to bring humans to life to face.... life??

As a homeschooling mom of 5, calling me selfish when infact I have given up MUCH for the children I love is mind-boggling. If I was truly selfish, I would give them up for my own ambitions. Instead, I give my life to raise them and prepare them for adult life *without* me. You and I will both be elderly, living our own lives with child free homes. The difference is my *unselfishness* will be rewarded with seeing my children and their children thrive and knowing this will live on long after I'm gone. This is true love, which is unselfish to the point of self sacrifice.

Hi Claudia, I rarely post but I felt It was a good time , as your video today hit the spot, I have come to be in this club of women our lives are very parallel with regards to children, and our place in the world, and our reaction to social events and how we are affected , yes this past years seems it goes from bad to worse and what I had very much settled in my 20’s is again causing anxiety great sadness and hopelessness, if you look for the good it becomes apparent and balances the horrible things that are always happening weather I immerse myself in information or just keep an eye on events set boundaries for myself and take action in my small way, so 👍 positives find you if you are open to it, I had a beat down yesterday that was building up, and today I found your video in my recommendations! I think this way and a reminder came to me, down to the hrt, coincidence? I don’t think so, thank you every single aspect you touched on today including the mother, and even a passive aggressive relationship w my sister I love them both and for my well-being I have to find my peace and keep some boundaries weather they like it or not(not) yes I did the work, the blaming the victim is a narcissistic trait, totally relate (but for Devine grace I was not abused, but the relationship with both turns abusive the minute I let my guard down, it’s exhausting most times, Iur interactions always start out lovely and then a sudden twist, I exit quickly and give myself permission to do so, then I avoid them until they decide to be nice, it’s always a trap but I do take the good moment and turn run as soon as the comment the face hits that turning point, it dies drive them both crazy it’s not healthy, they will never change that is their choice, I will always love them that’s my choice)
It’s too much writing for a post but it may help someone, like this video helped me today… namaste

It sounds like we do have many parallels and I am so happy to hear about your exhausting relationship with both, your mother and your sister. However, it sounds as if you have done a lot of wonderful healing around it, and while still not easy, you have found a way to be with them.
I am sorry to hear that other issues you thought you. had resolved in your 20's are causing you more sadness now. Sometime I believe these things come back around for us to have another chance to heal them further, sort of like a gift, but not an easy one of course.

Dear Claudia, thank you for taking time to answer my question. I really appreciate you. Also, I wanted to let you know that I was very touched hearing the story about your mother. I am glad you have set boundaries to keep yourself safe and loved and still showing kindness and mercy towards her during your recent interactions. You are a strong and beautiful soul. You are still very hopeful and positive and maybe one day she will take accountability for her actions and if not at least you tried to keep the door open in the distance for her to use to gain your love and trust. You also mention wanting to know how some of us cope with worldly and daily stress and negativity during our generation. I must say that the only thing that has worked for me has been my spirituality and closeness to God. My faith keeps me motivated to keep going without losing hope...I pray much, attend religious services and trust that God has a plan for each and everyone of us and since this life is very temporary I remind myself to do the best to help others and hope for the best the best with right intention and in knowing that the outcome is in God's hands. Dear Claudia, So much of your talk resonated with me and I sincerely thank you for being part of my life! I grew up with an Aunt and Grandmother and my relationship with my Mom was sometimes strained. What helped me was knowing she was sick and had her own demons and deep down did the best she could at that time. She has since passed and we had many good and sweet times together as she was a kind and loving person. Maybe one day your mother will be open to getting help and face the truth. As for having children, it was never a goal. My husband and I moved from NY to CA and were married 11 years before we had our son. He is my everything now. I've never been a planner per se either, but have always tried to follow my instincts and that has served me well. Hoping to embark on a third chapter as my work life is in flux. Claudia-thank you so much for the thoughtful response to my question. Such a great answer, and something that I absolutely can relate to. I think the way you described it perfectly captures one of the most prevailing differences - the focus on the individual in the United States, and a bit more of a collective approach in much of Western Europe. I did not mean to oversimplify by asking about “Western Europe” but felt I would be a little bit selfish asking you to explain your favorite aspects of each country 😉.
I’ve spent a good amount of time in Europe, East and West, and my favorite part of the people as a whole (if I can be so general) is the authenticity. Strangers may not always smile at one another, or ask “how are you doing?!” to everyone they pass on the street, but when they DO ask, it comes from a place of genuine curiosity/care. I feel that in the United States, we are expected to smile at everyone, and constantly prove that we are OK. It can be exhausting keeping up with that façade. I don’t feel that same pressure when I am in Europe, for the most part.
Always SO good to see you and hear your voice, Claudia. Sending you a huge hug.
    🧡Joey

    • @claudiaglows
      @claudiaglows  2 года назад +1

Hi Joey, it is great to hear from you and thank you for asking such an amazing question. You know, what you just said really rang true for me as well. When I first moved to the US I thought "wow, people are nice" until I figured out that the "how is it going" is not really a question but just something to say and no one really cares. You are so right, in Europe, esp. the 3 places I have lived, we are a bit more reserved, but when we stop and ask how you are, we really want to know. That is actually something I also very much appreciate. Though, at times, esp. in winter, when people are grumpy and no one smiles, I miss the "how is it going" with a smile :).
But you are right, it can be exhausting to always smile and portray happiness.
And I am very sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable by saying we can not throw all of western Europe in one pot. You def. did not oversimplify things,
I had just come from Germany and was reminded how different the country I grew up in is from the one I live in now, even though they border on each other :)
Sending a big hug your way Joey, I am so happy you are here

@@claudiaglows it seems like we are totally on the same page with this! I think that anyone who has spent extensive time in both regions can attest to this. It’s funny because when I was younger, I think I was better suited for the American “style,” but as I’ve gotten older, I find that I am craving authenticity in people SO much more. I find that it’s hard to find truly authentic people. Sometimes I wonder if Europe is a better fit for me,in some ways, at this stage of my life.
I think the authenticity you exude is part of the reason so many people are drawn to you, Claudia. I mean that with all of my heart!

Thank you for your honesty, and willing to discuss things that so many want to hide from. Many woman who were abused as children, are then made to feel like it was their fault. You and others then go on to feel unlovable, and self inflict pain on themselves. Getting help (therapy) was very wise, but not all do. Again thank you for speaking of this, I hope it helps those who do feel guilt and shame, that is not theirs to carry.

I have been using NutraBio Protein Powder Classic Whey for over 2 years. I really like it. It has almost 0 sugars in it. I like the Vanilla flavor and the Chocolate Milkshake. Some of the others I didn't care for. I put the Vanilla in my smoothie every morning and I use the Chocolate with some coffee syrup and half and half, for an afternoon pickup now and then. It's a totally committed company to good health. Thank you for being so honest with us, which is certainly none of our business. I do think it helps to share though. I believe like you, that we have to forgive people, but we don't have to forget. I am so happy you have done what is right for you. Big hugs!

Hi Claudia! Nulliparous ladies unite...I was horrified and completely averse to the idea of having children from the time I was a young child. When I was about four years old, since I had a bad feeling that having kids was a requirement (though I couldn't figure out what the punishment would be for disobeying this requirement), I asked my parents "if it was allowed" for me not to have kids. My extended family was in the room -- the adults looked at each other and my mom said, "No, you don't have to if you don't want to." I was so relieved. Then I asked if I had to get married if I didn't want to, and I got the same answer. Then, for complete clarity, I asked if I could get married but just not have kids. Anyhoo, for whatever reason, I have gone through life without much social resistance to my joyful childlessness. There have been only two people who've given me attitude or tried to fight my position -- both of them were women who had just met me and were ostensibly retrograde and intellectually vacant. I find it appalling that anyone would judge a person to be selfish for not wishing to bring new human life to this world -- it is usually quite the opposite: no one ever gets asked if they want to be born, so anyone who decides they want a kid is doing it to fulfill their own selfish desires or they're submitting to some external agency that has nothing to do with the consciousness of the baby; furthermore, the world is overpopulated and climate change is ruining the planet -- I know several women who wanted to have kids, but elected not to solely for this reason. It is reprehensible to me that having kids continues to be perceived as a default life path when doing so often entails sidelining or completely obliterating other opportunities that could very well serve humanity far more than being a parent. I posted this interesting article on my Facebook the other day: www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/living-single/202001/21-truths-about-people-who-dont-have-children?fbclid=IwAR00xMGdb0LvecxAtcmygR-Yn5rbXWW7ORSLIH6ExldyfyvBVphSHH_1W8E

Seraphina, I absolutely loved reading your thoughtful comment as well as learning some about your upbringing and the way you decided to live your life. You are very lucky to have had so much support regarding the decisions you made. However, this support and acceptance should be the norm. We should feel free to do whatever we feel is not harming others or the planet. And you are so right, the planet can not sustain this trend of overpopulation and climate change, yet we are just plucking right along.
Thank you for sharing your article with us as well, I am very much looking forward to reading it.

I know I have never had an open conversation about this topic, and I would probably benefit if I did. Thank you for sharing, I know your response will help many, including myself.
I also am like you in that I never wanted children. I find it strange that society judges us harshly for it.
Protein powder: I like Plant Fusion complete protein, natural - no stevia, it is vegan. I don’t use this as my main protein source, only in a supplemental way. I like that it is plain as I prefer the natural ingredients of my smoothie to shine, for me that is cacao and fresh ginger.

I love your explanation of the differences between Europe and USA. I so agree with you. I was born in Canada (parents from Holland), lived in Italy (husband in Military), travelled many times to Europe (relatives live there), and lived in the USA most of my life (moved to USA at 13). I can honestly say whenever I cross the border from Canada to the USA there is a complete energy shift. I cannot explain it, but it is this total independent sense of freedom. Canada is very similar to Europe and I feel they focus on safety and government. Anyway, I hope each country can keep their uniqueness because that is what makes them special. I believe eventually we all will evolve into being completely independent and self sovereign, as we were originally intended. Anyway thank you for having such an educational and inspiring channel. By the way, Europe has the BEST food and wine hands down ...no question! ...lol....Cheers.

Very wise advice about exercise and motivation regarding it, Claudia. I give up very easily especially when life is busy and exercise moves down the priority list. I have tried weights, hoola hooping, brisk walking etc but I give up quickly. At the moment I am enjoying mobility stretches for my body and like you, I motivate myself because I want to have flexible joints and an upright posture and strong muscles as I age. Just bought myself a yoga mat. Exercise at home can be fun and efficient when I am watching lovely youtube videos like yours while doing them. :)

She moved and lives in Paris for a while now but her apartment was broken into and she lost everything. The only thing that is left is her traumatized cat but she is so glad he is fine. What an awful thing to experience for her. I don't really know why I am sharing this but City of Love is just so hard to hear suddenly thinking of someone who has just experienced this in Paris.

I have just started watching your videos and am so appreciative of your openness and I absolutely love you and the doctor that helped you get your hormones taken care of. That is where I am at in my journey. The reason I am commenting; however, is the topic of having children. We need to support each other regardless of that choice, and having children is not what every woman is programmed to do with her existence. I never thought I wanted to have children either. I ended up having two children and I am happy with my journey, but I think my life could have been just as content if I hadn't. You are making a difference and I hope that your life is filled with contentment and peace. Having children does not necessarily fulfill that. You now have an extention of yourself out there in the world and you always feel vulnerable. You sacrifice whether you want to or not, but I do not think women who chose not to have children are selfish. I think people who have children and don't sacrifice are selfish, because they signed up for it. Your legacy is how you help so many by sharing your knowledge and your journey. That is what is so wonderful about today's social media. I also have a youtube channel and I think this is a wonderful way for us to leave our legacy and make a difference. God bless you!

Hello! I feel compelled to share my thoughts on having children and the "selfish" argument. In my opinion, the only reason anyone should ever have children is because they want children with their whole heart, more than anything else in this world. Because every child should be wanted, loved, and absolutely adored by their parents. Therefore, if someone wants children more than anything else and has them, they have children for the selfish reason that they wanted children so badly. And that is how it should be. To decide not to have children because we do not feel able to prioritize children over everything else in our lives is not selfish-- it's responsible. Children deserve better than "I guess I should have some because everyone else is having kids..." The best parents have children for selfish reasons. The rest of us who are not fully committed to wanting children with all of our hearts should not feel pressured to bring more children into this already overpopulated world. I commend you for making the decision that was best for you, just as I commend women for choosing to have children when that is best for them. But let's stop calling the childless by choice "selfish" once and for all. Love your channel, Claudia! ❤

    • @claudiaglows
      @claudiaglows  2 года назад +1

Fiona, I really enjoyed reading your thoughtful comment and I could not agree with you more! Children should be loved, adored and prioritised, but knowing that we might not be willing to do so is responsible, not selfish, esp. in a world that is overpopulated and full of children ( and adults) who did not get the love and attention they deserved.
I am very happy you are here and hope you will have a wonderful week.

Having children is a choice...not a requirement. I never had a desire to be pregnant and give birth...its sounds awful. I knew from a young age that I did not want children. I'm 49 years old and my husband and I are not missing anything in our lives and we are perfectly happy. I cant understand why people think its selfish not to have children...that makes no sense to me. It is NO ONE'S business why people don't have children.

I want to say that yes nasolabial folds are normal but with ageing they actually are not dynamic anymore, they become static and do make us look aged. They are like huge folds or huge wrinkles i call them...as the cheeks descend and fold over. I wanted Sculptra done with the nasolabial area but my doctor refused to do it to that area. Did you do Sculptra at the nasolabial fold, Claudia? In the end, I took the doctor's advice and had filler done, in a lighthanded manner. I do look better and do love the result so far. I was really scared about filler to the nasolabial area as I have heard of it looking weird when we animate but thankfully I seem to look ok.

How does Metformin promotes longevity? I have never heard of this before. All I hear so far is those advocates for natural health therapies, naturopaths etc discouraging the use of Metformin as in their opinion, Metformin is a medication and will just make people dependent on it for life and being enslaved to medications is a no-no to them and of cos they also talk about the long term side effects of Metformin. I only know it is a medication for Type 2 diabetes as I do have relatives on this, never know that it can help longevity. Sorry Claudia, I am spamming you with comments but it is hard to put everything in one comment 😅🤣

What I learned about having children is that it is for people who love being in love. Because you are in love with your children every minute you are with them. I feel the same way about my animals, my dogs and my cats and any other animals, I just love loving them. It's for people who are still a kid inside and love to play and joke. It is also for people who enjoy the physical hard work that comes with it. So for me it was the right choice. I was one of those who used to say I would never have children and then I finally did in my forties, have two children. Hint; if you really love your animals, you will really love your children too. That's a clue for all of you who are trying to decide. Oh and don't wait until your forties thinking your life will get better. Your life will not get better. You will just be older thinking you should have done it when younger. Your beautiful babies will say to you, mom why didn't you have me when you were 20?
