    Hi Deanna - I hope your other orchid turns up soon. I’ve just discovered your channel and am guessing you’re somewhere in Australia. I have difficulty in NSW getting supplies for potting my Phalaenopsis and Paphiopedilum. Nursery/hardware supplies are not really the best for these two. Any ideas please? Thanks. Beverley

      Online is the best resource Beverley. You can also usually find some good supplies at local orchid shows.
      Some online suggestions: orchid den, Australian orchid nursery, orchid trays , Orchidaceous Supplies (they supply my favourite potting pre-mix) websites :)

    Beautiful catt, I think they planted that in rocks because this orchid doesn’t like to be wet often, I had two seedling crosses before and I can’t keep them alive, I have a bigger plant this time and I planted it in large kiwi bark medium and in a clay pot with holes, I’m hoping to see flowers in the future, good luck in yours.

      J.Pabalan species Cattleya seedlings are quite hard work in my opinion .. I just try to avoid them now because I do pretty badly with them

    It seems to be in such good condition! Maybe that new growth will bloom for you?! I'm excited to see! This is funny because I also ordered a 'near blooming size' Dowiana from eBay 3 weeks ago and they still haven't sent it and won't respond to emails 😅 eBay orchid issues...

    That's good glad everything is ok, I haven't had issues like that with orchids but have had a few half dead ones, which some have gone and others are still with me, struggling, not worth getting small plants like you said

      @OrchieDee  5 лет назад

      Sue Wright I've had a few of those too... But I've had mostly success getting refunds on bad orchids thank goodness

    Hi there, Hope you will get the other cattleya soon. This one looks really nice. Since you are going to repot it, i would make a crazy suggestion to you: Semi Hydroponic. I know you didn't like it for your Phals, but Cattleyas usually do very well with Leca. It's airy and won't breakdown. The top layer will dry out faster which will give it the dry period it prefers. New plant needs to adjust to your environment anyway, maybe you will give it a try? I keep my Phals and Onc in barks but put all my Cattleyas in Leca now, either Semi Hydro or self watering. They are all doing great. I tried one first, it was struggling, I changed it from bark to Leca self watering at the end of last year, now it has two new growth and three buds. I ordered three seedlings this spring and put them all in Semihydro, they all have healthy new growth and new roots now. If you up for it, give it a try.

      Jojo thanks for the suggestion but no way I'll risk this guy in it!! If I were to experiment I would do it on a cheap catt I didn't care about!!
      However I have tried some Catts in semi hydro back when I was experimenting. Everything fell over in winter as it's too hard to keep them outside in a semi hydro setup... Just too cold and my awesome new roots all died

      @@OrchieDee Oh, I understand. Maybe it just doesn't work for your environment, Orchid caring is a tricky business. You have such an extensive and beautiful collection. Thank you for sharing!

    if you let the seller know that the other orchid was not in the box they will often send the other plant to you without anymore money being paid, if not complain to ebay they won't want any negative feedback

    • @OrchieDee
      @OrchieDee  5 лет назад

      Sue Wright ah the sellers been ok.. I think they accidentally put it in the wrong box. Just really annoying!! And sadly not uncommon in the eBay world.

    can i use NpK as foliar feed ?
    whats the best time to feed NPK to our plant ? day time morning or evening ? or after dusk ?

    • @OrchieDee
      @OrchieDee  5 лет назад +1

      Hamim CHOWDHURY all watering is best done early morning to allow drying but if you have good air flow and it's not too cold, I'm sure you could water whenever.
      I don't foliar feed. I personally don't think it does much.. just my opinion but I believe the effect is from the runoff which just end up in the roots anyway! But I do believe leaves can absorb moisture from the air, when their stomata are open... Time of day depends on the plant.
      I'm no expert though!

      Bojana Kusljic haha yeah I know. But I was expecting it. There were 18 other bidders. It went to 217 because someone else had their max bid at 215. I put mine in at 220 🤷🏻‍♀️.
