You forgot the barbarians Bane intelligence/ wisdom saving throws, also bear totem do not resist psychic damage. That said the Barbarian I want to build is warforged bear totem
you should do one for bards and make sure to mention the GOLIATH BARD WRESTLER build!
A party of Barbarians is really all the Rage!
I'll show myself out...
"The only supportive thing is maybe the storm herald"
DUDES, Wolf totem is aggro-support but it's still support :p
I truly enjoy the all rogue/barbarian combination. Not much need for support over-all.......*WINK*
Also zealot's level 10 ability is the greatest support ability.
@@stevenmichaelcunningham4085 Eh, Mastermind/Wolf Totem is actually a great supportive character TBH. Particularly when you have other rogues.
@@000Dragon50000 Rogue being the focus or a blend of each class was my basis. I'm not all that familiar with the totem stuff but it is kind of self-explanatory. Imagine a highly acrobatic, athletic & stealth intensive barbarian where-as the insight & perception are complimented with a base statistic of 12 (plus 1 bonus...) each. That's my go-to. I like to throw bard or monk in there too. ^_^
This made me think about a Dex-based Changeling Ancestral Guardian Charlatan where you flavour the spirits that come and aid you as all your different personas. Suddenly I need to find a one-shot to try this character out.
Give them horses. They are now the invincible horde.
It all depends on the level you will be at. For instance if its a level 20 start up for an epic campaign? drop battle and berserk. Your zealot will never die.
I DMed a campaign where 5 of my players decided to play 5 barbarians that were brothers and cousins, my bosses in early levels went max 2 rounds before they died. It was very fun
Picture this:
A guard captain and 2 guards walk into a bar and state "we have heard that the adventurer party [Insert generic name] is staying at this in, and we are here to arrest them for the murder of a noble." *a moment of silence* then from a table can be heard grumbling and when they turn and look. There are 6, 2 meter tall, barbarians getting ready for a fight, while their majestic facial hair and muscular bodies emanate a intimidating aura from their sheer existence.
The guards turn and walk out to report the adventurers were gone
I'm picturing a group almost like the cast of gargoyles (but with various races) where they all have similar abilities but have a certain level of cohesion. Particularly with a leader like goliath.
Is this how to play Hulk: Agents of S.M.A.S.H?
Indeedy!

Having fought evil hordes beyond counting and vanquishing all that stood before their might, the glorious barbarian party stand before the arch mage. His plan to sacrifice all life to his evil god all hinge upon the parties next actions. "Mwuahahaha, I see you have beat my minions. It's all according to plan. Do not think you have won the day yet my heroes. For now you must get to me to stop my Engine of Hate. The only way my fiendish machinery can be defeated is with a working knowledge of junior high arithmetic..." and thus was the world plunged into darkness.
also, just gonna throw this out there.. High Elven Barbarian. Bows, perception, darkvision, a wizard cantrip, advantage vs charm and immunity to sleep. Covers quite a few of the gaps.
An average barb: "I smash things."
A smart barb: "I must see a thing to smash that thing."
A clever barb: "Smash all things so things don't have things to hide behind."
@@DeetotheDubs suave bard: I need to smash that thing to smash its thing.
Yup a few low rolls on some mind control spells and the party loses. Or a flying dragon they can't hit.......burning and burning and burning. lol You need some spell casters.
@@MrBottlecapBill they have 16 yavelins and maybe one has a ranged cantrip.
Having more than one PC give the condition of "disadvantage to hit anyone but me" seems like a DM's nightmare lol
Compelled dual, the horror
"Hit me!" "No me!" "No me!"
"Aaaaaaargh, settle on something now or I'm out"
If you have two wolf totems you don't even need to attack recklessly, your party just has pack tactics at that moment.
Or have your wolf totem barbarian be a kolbald lol
@@dicorockhimself But kobolds get a minus to STR... although having one barbarian dealing one less point of damage per hit ain't that bad.
@@devin5201 sure less strength but advantage for all all the time.
Been running a student campaign of all Barbarians v Dinosaurs - great balance with the high damage per CR. Love these all class parties! They are great for teaching kids and not overwhelming them with so many options off the bat. Keep it up dudes!
We've done a couple one shots with a barbarian family on our podcast. I don't know how enjoyable it'd be for more to play a campaign like that, but as a quick few hour session its awesome.
1) Mindless rage means at least the beserker won't be charmed and turned against the rest of the party. A beserker, a yuan-ti, elven (or half) and/or a gnome are about the only way an all barb party is going to survive against a bunch of dryads or similar.
2) The other abilities of the zealot: radiant damage once a round and Rage beyond death (if you reach that level) with at least once magic initiate or aasimar in the party to keep them from actually dying, more than makes up for the loss of no cost resurrections.
A party of barbarians sounds like the perfect opportunity to use a large scale battle or a siege of a castle. On the other hand you could do a gladiator style or hunger games PVP game.
You guys should definitely do the rest of the all class party compression. Would really love to see that.
On another note, I've been thinking of doing one shots for an all one class party. As a way to introduce players to the class and gain a taste of what's it's like to play as them.
We've done a bunch of them so far.
Nerdarchist Dave
Go for the ones without armor. None of them are wearing armor! Go for the squishy ones. Th-they're all beefcakes!!
Retreat! Sweet and sour Tiamat, they can all run faster than us!!
Actually this sounds a little like JJBA.. very strong boys and their ancestral spirits/stands who are also very strong boys.
I cannot wait to see the all Paladin party! Bless
I'm currently playing a Tortle Barbarian / Ancestral Guardian. He carries a shield made from the shells of his Ancestors and travels around seeking to gain their wisdom.
He is super-tanky!!🐢
I know you guys didn't care for it, but in 4th Edition an all Paladin-party had a riDICulous level of versatility and survivability. If your 4 Pally Party had 1 of each build then you had just about every angle of play covered, with the sole exception of Roguegery, but an Eladrin could pick up Theivery as a bonus skill if needed.
And your party composition could be AMAZINGLY diverse!
Deva
Dragonborn
Dwarf
Eladrin
Gnome
Goliath
Half-elf
Half-orc
Halfling
Human
Minotaur
Shardmind
Shifter, Longtooth
Tiefling
And that's JUST from the three PHBs
Wood Elf, Urban Bounty Hunter, Path of the Totem Warrior - Lv 3 Bear, Lv 6 Tiger, Lv 14 Elk
Feats: Great Weapon Master, Healer, Mending Affinity (Tal'Dorei), Tough, Wood Elf Magic
{If you aren't using the Rapid Drinking variant rule, replace Healer with Rapid Drinker}
Also, it might be fun to have them contract Werebear lycanthropy.
Zentaur barb with throwing axes could give you a scirmisher counter.
If you add magic initiate i would try warlock with lightning lure, another cantrip and expeditious retreat just to tie down the enemy.
What could also help is maneuvers if you go with the more disabling ones.
Also bags of calltrops >:)
A wood elf barb with the wood elf magic feat would be very good. You get longstrider, which you can put on yourself to have a 10ft for 8 hours with no concentration, so you can still rage. Pass without a trace is a great out of combat spell, and I recommend the guidance cantrip to buff all of your skill checks out of combat.
I like the idea that with a 5 person party you double up on two of the archetypes with one player playing the shaman leading the twinned twin souls but that would have to be for a super focused campained pre-planned with the storyteller.
Lizardfolke get that bite that to heal themselves.
I would like to remind everyone that a Zealot Aasimar can heal themselves out of Rage Beyond Death. You want a tank? You have a literally unkillable tank, as long as you keep that rage up.
Man, if I could round up the players, we could basically homebrew Capcom's Monster Hunter World, fighting weird behemoths and dinosaurs.
dreddbolt I always thought that was more a group of fighters in a setting where the average person is just far far stronger physically.
GM Binder has you covered. www.gmbinder.com/share/-L0j3FWNhBx15I-lR7qC
Four totem barbarians = One of those 80s/90s mutant animal fighting shows :^)
Necro max health reducing monsters is a barbarians worst nightmare
The problem with using melee skirmishers against barbarians is that at least one person probably has sentinel.
I have and it is a blast.
DPS: Battlerager
Tank: Zealot
Support: Ancestral Guardian
Crowd Control: Storm Herald.
Healer: Need not apply
Ranged: Tiger Totem Warrior
Leader/Face: Berserker, "talk it out" with intimation checks
Keep in mind: A Barbarian's rage only states that you need to make an attack to keep it going, not specifically a melee attack (unless I'm reading my PHB incorrectly). Pack a bow (you probably have a positive Dex modifier for Unarmored Defense or Medium Armor anyway) and take pot-shots at the skirmishers until you get an opportunity to get back into bashing range!
Okay, got me to like with the first line.
want to see an all wizard party :D
Time to bust out the steroids and protein powder, and don't forget your ifbb membership cards, because it looks like we're about to have a bodybuilding competition! We have representatives from all manner of races here today folks, all looking to take home the gold. Weighing in at 410lbs, with 20%bodyfat, and standing at an impressive 8'1. Coming down out of the mountains to represent the Goliaths, give it up for Sabor of the clan Mokesh! That's not all folks, standing 7'3 and weighing 390lbs with only 12%bodyfat, and representing the orcs Magor Gromash! Next we have, representing minotaurs and capping out at 400lbs exactly with only 10%bodyfat and standing 7'4, it's the children's favorite Minos Crete! Last but certainly not least, representing the humans, your friend and mine. This man needs no introductions welcome the returning champion Arnold Schwarzenegger!
my vote is for the Totem Warrior n Storm Herald r the best 2, although a lvl 20 Zealot is the strongest but until then it's weaker along the way there.
my Totem Warrior is an urchin bootlegger Hill Dwarf
I have an idea for a party. All Gish party. Each party member is single classed and has a gish Archetype.
Warmage - Wizard
Bladesinger - Wizard
College of Valour - Bard
College of Swords - Bard
Hexblade - Warlock
Eldritch Knight - Fighter
Arcane Trickster - Rogue
It's not too difficult to create a flexible Barbarian. You have to sacrifice a your maximum starting stats, but you can do a Half-Elf barbarian with the urchin background.
Using Points Buy, Str 14, Dex 14, Con 14, Int 12, Wis 12, Cha 12.
You have some stat flexibility, proficiency with Sleight of Hand, Stealth and Thieves' Tools, two more proficiencies from Half Elf, and probably Intimidation and Athletics from your Barbarian proficiencies.
Remember that the origin of the Berzerker was the "bear cloak" wearer, the bodyguard of the lord, and the barbarian was just the derogatory Greek description of anyone who wasn't Greek, so there's no reason to assume a barbarian is going to be dumb.
Heck, look at the original Barbarian, Conan. Sure, he's strong and powerful, and skilled with a blade, but he's also charismatic, smart, and cunning. More of a strength type rogue than a single minded bruiser.
how about a party of all rangers. I feel like a well built ranger party, as competent melee, range, and spell casters, could be a force to be reckoned with.
Matt Mercer Juggernaut is good too!
i still prefer the all cleric party.
go forward A-men!!!!
Is that a Hellsing Ultimate reference I see?
What are the best spells that aren't dependant on spellcasting ability scores?
Spells like Prestigitation, Haste, and Invisibility.
I don't know why everyone diss on bazerker. Being imune to fear and enchantments are prety neat. Also i don't remember if others get so angry, that they have dc against droping uncountious and rage that does not end if you do not want it.
City folk light the grass as the barbarians charge in. Barbarians laugh crazily as they charge into the fire and fight from the inside edge letting it lick at their backs. City folk then realize that their rages are not stopping due to the 1d2 points of fire damage per round. They all look at the mage that thought of the idea and he just shrugs and says "oops."
td doesn't usually wear t-shirts n for a second I thought he had a tattoo n then I realized it's just the nerdarchy Goblin logo
Nice
so you are saying this party will be a rage induced campaign?
How would you guys do the Fighting Style party? I.E. Fighter, Paladin, Ranger, and College of Swords Bard
You do that with all barbs.
Healer so long as you have a healer you’ll be good.
Speaking if Barbs, I don't know if you've ever done this kind of thing but how about a video on fictional characters for example how would you make Conan? What feats and sub class would he be?
5 barbarians would be cool
A Lot of big bird has appear
low level barbarian party... OHHH SHIIIITTTT
Vedalken barbarian... As someone who is a fan of MTG as well that one will have have people tilting their heads like you made a 3.5 Half-Orc wizard!
Would be curious about the story reason though.
There are Cards like Vedalken hussar and Vedalken blade (?) that are the soldier / knight type.
You could always play as a choleric researcher or former pencilpusher that got moved to the frontlines of research ... especialy if you got any artefacts to test.
Well now I have to play a Totem barbarian with ritual caster and be a tribal shaman.
I would not dismiss the zealot so easily if making them your primary divine spell caster or herbalist type and half orc race you have a hero that is almost impossiable to put down and can save others from death or even raise them.
Not saying this is an optimal build but an intresting flavour build espeically in a game of all barbians.
I would agree battle rager and bersker do offer very little on a all barbian party because they no longer have abilties that seperate them from the party but just add slightly more to what everyone else can do.
I think with the proper party forethought and a good dm this could be a great game or even just a great one shot don't think hack and slash style one off where you see how long you can last against waves of enenmies for chosen reason.
One easy counter: imunity to nonmagical damage.
So lycanthropes
How about an all magic user party?
Mitigation, not midigation ;)
I just realized Dan's eyes...
Someone please let me out of Ted's basement I'm so hungry

I've been reading and watching videos about 5e for half a year now.

You don’t even drink much less party. Nooo but I bet that dude smokes a lot of weed
Its one thing to be scripted, its another to be robotic....
