Greatest guitar duo ever. Danny and Peter... Jeremy Spencer deserves credit for his amazing slide playing aswell.
Peter Green exhibits a direct connection between his heart, head his fingers and a Higher Power. Peter's playing is unmatched when you need to get to the root of ones pain. Despite the pain his playing caused him he kept playing his blues. Bless the Green God!
So beautiful song,this is blues!!!
Absolutely amazing!
Danny Kirwan's vibrato!! & PG's lead!!!
That is such a great chord progression, probably my favorite progression. Guitar playing is just fantastic here.
PETER 🎸🔥🙏❤️DESDE ARGENTINA 🇦🇷✌️
When Peter Green still had that intense fire burning deep somewhere inside himself like none other....
It seems most people think this is Peter Green playing lead guitar (on Something inside of me). It's Danny Kirwan. He wrote the song and played lead guitar. It's hard to comprehend that Fleetwood Mac had two guitarists on this level.
No offense but it’s pretty obvious, who ever is singing is gonna play lead and the other with back them up with rhythm
@@greenmanalishi6963 I'm not offended :) Don't get me wrong - I think Peter Green is the greatest blues musician to ever walk on this earth and that has been my opinion for 40 years. I constantly look for new and old music to rival him - and I haven't found it yet. I encourage anyone to question this to compare BB King's original version of "I've got a mind to give up living" with any of Peter's live versions.
But I think it is important to recognize just how amazing Danny Kirwan was. To anyone who is really interested, have a look at youtube clips "Black Magic Woman", "Like it this way", "Oh well" and "Albatross".
Loved your post, Jan. Both great guitarists. It's hard not to compare the two because they meshed so well. However, they had their own strengths that made them both unique. @@janmikkelsen4974
Jeremy was quite good as well lol 🙂 x
Wow...Absolutely amazing
...How can a person "down" this recording?...
This posting is the nearest to being in the same room and having these feelings as reality.
Kirwan's rhythm guitar walking along behind Peter in "Baby" is an all time classic riff.
7:38 This lick is OFF the Wall..... A million years ahead of his times.. PETER GREEN and the REAL Fleetwood Mac
Every lick on this tune is unreal. Peter doing simple things and making them sound amazing.
peter is the green god. wot a talent.
these two jewels along with Jumping At Shadows are the proof that Peter Green was far ahead of his time talent wise....had he progressed a different route...OMG
Just to clarify, it's Danny Kirwan singing and playing less on "Something Inside Of Me. "But yeah, "If You Be My Baby" is AMAZING.
Greeny plays rhythm guitar on this one.
Oh, I think there wasis something inside of him, all right. And God Himself put it there, to share with the rest of the world.
danny kirwan
Prime example of the semi- mystical term - Les Paul honk, as examplified and amplified by Kirwan's tone.
If he had not lost his mind Peter Green would be the top white blues guitar player and singer to ever play the blues. I've heard everyone and if I just listen without knowing who's playing. I can't tell the difference between Peter and any other black blues guitar players or singers. The whole band is insanely talented for that matter. We might have never gotten to hear the modern Fleetwood Mac if he'd not become ill. They'd have made as much money as led zeppelin or cream. But that wasn't to be.
I think Peter would be surprised that 53 years after this recording that he was still considered to be one of the best blues musicians ever.
BB said there was only three white men could really play the blues, Stevie, Johnny, and Peter. That is the highest praise, and Peter was the best of them (Imho)
Like 'Jigsaw Puzzle Blues' (originally 1930s Joe Venuti & Eddie Lang - see on RUclips), Danny Kirwan took an existing song - Elmore James's 'Something Inside of Me' - and gave it an updated arrangement. And he sang it with meaning yet with that forever young voice of his. Then there was the stinging vibrato of his guitar playing, which was the perfect complement to Peter Green's BB King/Otis Rush/Freddie King-nuanced approach. The Mac's studio version of this tune with Danny in his very early days with the band is just one of the instances where his presence added a freshness and seemed to generate new sense of purpose, prompting Green to up his own game on guitar and writing, resulting in the likes of 'Oh Well' and the 'Green Manalishi'.
So true
Gorgeous toning up and the sweetest vibrato. Green was Santana's inspiration as Cale was Clapton's. Did Hendrix ever bump into these guys in the States?
It's actually danny playing lead here. He was on the same level as peter, just didn't come out of things as well. Though peter didn't fare much better...
I HAVE TO AGREE WITH YOU DANNY AND PETER COMPLIMENTED EACH OTHER, A FORMIDABLE DUO.
I'm pretty sure Danny plays lead on Something Inside of Me and Peter on If You Be My Baby. I sometimes wonder if the fact that Danny played possibly the greatest single slow blues Fleetwood Mac ever produced contributed to Peter freaking out when he did. One song does not a god make.! Peter remains the greatest ever based on volume of work! Nobody can touch him.
Yes Hendrix played Greenys Les Paul oncez they met twice
danny!
what the hell was goin on with greenie by 8:03 ???? somekinda cult got to him ?
Imo,Peter is as good as Clapton and Bonnamassa. ?sang better too....
as good as Bonnamassa . He is miles and miles ahaead of him, they dont even belong in the same sentence
Ten fold. Did u forget he could write songs and play bass like Paul McCartney and wail on the harp like sonny boy Williams
Bonna who? Not even close, Green God gives me the chills on this solo, just one of a kind!
Exactly correct better singer than Clapton and Bonamassa sang better than Jimi as well!
