  • York Colleges Guild ringing some Plain Hunt on this pleasant mid-weight eight. The back six were cast by Warners in 1914, and augmented to eight by Taylors in 1952. I believe the Warner bells were tuned at this time; apparently, Taylors were less than complimentary about their tone! They sound good, are crystal clear, and handle very nicely, although the tenor lacks a bit of hum and the 3&4 are made somewhat awkward by the clock case.

Rang a QP here, back when I was tinny. I was ringing the tenor, and my Dad sat on my box for the 45 or so minutes we rang it in! 😂

Sound very pleasant to my ears. Lots better than some other Warner rings out there that's for sure.

Probably helped by Taylor's tuning machine! But yes - they are a nice eight, I enjoyed these :-)

@@simonbellringer Definitely. However, you get some Warners that sound horrid even after retuning! But these turned out quite nicely.

These aren't a bad 8 honestly - just recall the clock case being a bit of a nightmare (sore knuckles after the lower!)

I liked them! I didn't find the clock case a problem - but then I wasn't jumping up and down (or lowering). 🙃

@@ΝΙΚΟΣΠΟΔΑΣ-δ4σ no, tenor is a little bit toneless compared to the others - doesn't stand out too badly when they are ringing together but definitely noticeable at the end!..
