Their players may not have the individualstats but they have at least three all star caliber players, a deep bench and the most accomplished coach left in the playoffs (post big 3 spo is underrated)
Bam is so versatile man. I bet Spo is having a hell of a time running this offense. Also helps to have an unselfish star in Jimmy and a cast that can shoot. Crazy team1
It's amazing how well Miami reads the defense and makes adjustments during their offensive sets. The off ball movement is something that more young players need to comprehend.
This is the way basketball should be played. It's great to see "simple" offensive principles executed by unselfish professionals. Great video explaining the motions Miami goes through
During the offseason, Spo asked for another coach to teach him the Princeton offense. Then Spo added a Grit & Grind system to that offense, then guess what, winning plays can be seen from the Heat's offense
tha fact that the heat stick to their plan even when trailing by 17 is absurd. That is when you see the confidence they have between them and the respect they haveon the coach Spoelstra
A pleasure to watch this team playing like a team, and getting success from it. So refreshing after enduring the Rockets' failed one dimensional offensive strategy.
This is why I say coaching is VERY important when it comes to playoffs. You have to have a coach who knows how to strategize and set up certain actions because of tendencies other coaches have. Spo thought of the counters to brad’s counters. This is going to be an amazing series bc finally I think Brad is going to really feel like he was outcoached in a series. Hopefully the experience will take the Cs to new heights. I just don’t think they are equipped right now to beat the Lakers or Heat unless Tatum and JB play out of their minds in GM1-5. Everybody getting 20 is cool but somebody’s gotta go off for them to take the game. Tatum gotta go out there trying to put 50 on Jimmy’s head if he wants to get through this heat team. Otherwise they might as well start packing.
The Heat play with so much - they taken some split action/Princeton offense principles from the Warriors and then applied it to a system that would amplify Bam's ability to work in the high post with the dribble handoffs, boomerang passes, split cuts, etc.
The Celtics shot 50%, much higher than the Heat. The difference is the Heat’s defense forcing so many turnovers, offensive rebounds and steals. They had almost twenty more shots in Game 2.
The heat offence is just too good. So much going on off ball, and they have so many good 3pt shooters. Also, bam is very quickly turning into one of my favourite players. What a great overall player on both sides of the ball! Also, I’m starting up an nba RUclips channel next season where I’ll do stuff like predictions, redrafts, rankings and more fun stuff so if u enjoy the nba feel free to subscribe 🙂
It really comes down to effective communication. The Celtics aren’t effectively communicating with each other defensively, especially later in the game. This is a huge reason why they have been blowing leads in the playoffs and probably why Marcus smart was frustrated after Game 2.
This is pretty good stuff but I dont think this is why the Celtics are 0-2. They were leading by double digits both games, this might be a mental problem for them
Hey Coach Daniel, excellent video as usual :) Can you please make a video on why teams switch often on pick and roll defense? There are many teams that are switching by default instead of fighting over the screens.
My favorite is Duncan running around the 3-point line until he runs past Bam. Then Bam pitches the ball to him and slightly moves forward before getting set so the defender has to take a wider angle or runs into him. Simple, but lethal
Coach spo is making top coaches look stupid. I have respect for McMillan coach bud and I really respect Brad Stevens but when you break down the film and see all lack of adjustment you start to ask yourself are they really that good? With that being said I think Erik Spoelstra is a Hall of fame coach and I am not shocked at all he is doing this to them.

I've been calling their offense Spurs- esque and people have called me stupid, but they lead the NBA in postseason passing and the smart, methotic offense and ball movement reminds me of the Spurs.
It's a good call imo. I guess the only obvious difference I see is if the cutting and screening actions don't work they don't have Duncan in the post who can get a high % shot off. Spurs played some of my favourite offence, but part of that was also going Duncan and Parker pick and roll, even if not to score, just to get Duncan in post scoring position. The Heat team don't quite have that option. But yes I agree with you.
Plain and simple the Celtics are playing as if they thought because they have the better skill players they wound win. Naw. Not going to work against a team like Miami. Stevens is being out coached and those skill players for the Celtics were starting to believe the hype. The heat said ok, you can have the better skill players but you won’t out work us. You won’t our scheme us. You won’t play harder than us and we have an offensive system that makes your so called #2 defense look bad. Kemba is being owned by the heat. That’s a big part of it. The Celtics need kemba for offense but his defense is hurting the Celtics. Miami is the better team all around. It’s showing. The Celtics are imploding. If Boston loses tonight it’s over in 4. Miami a less blood in the water now and they haven’t even played their best game yet.
Butler had one of his best game against bucks in game1, but since then he has gone cold and hesitant in shooting. Is that because of great defence or just him not having confidence in shooting?
Butler is giving the 1st half scoring to his teammates. When you watch the Heat all season, he always thrive in clutch moments when the team needs him the most. He doesn't need to score 20+ every game, he just want to win it all.
Is winning by the skin of their teeth really “lighting up the Celtics?” In game 3 the Celtics actually lit up the Heat. The Celtics have had the lead for nearly 3/4ths of the first 3 games. To me the story is the Celtics blowing leads by playing a clock milking ISO style late with a lead rather than continuing to play the style that built the double digit lead they’re squandering.
Points per chance doesn't take into account offensive rebounds I believe. And because it's such a small sample size, often per chance gives a better representation of what's actually happening. Usually the numbers don't differ too much though.
I'm confused? I don't think their offense is functioning that well am I wrong? Like their offensive rating isn't super high for either team this series
