AronRa has a fluent and eloquent way of presenting information.
I do love his delivery. Even though this whole presentation was information I already knew, it's still fun! (And repetition is a good way to retain information, too.)
Also deep enough to listen to at night and fall asleep with the buds in!
I am so damn envious of Aron ability to provide EXCELLENT scientific presentations.
He makes it look so easy.
I know, right?!? I would mess up and need many takes, and he just whips it out, like it ain't no thing!
What a fascinating presentation.
I visited the London Natural History Museum earlier in the year. Which is slightly more impressive when I mention I'm Australian. It was an edifice of a building. I thought it was a cathedral as I was walking towards it, but I checked my map and realised that it was the museum. I'd share pictures if I could, but I was astounded and greatly moved that they had built something of this scale for the purpose of studying the natural world and sharing what they discovered.
While there I wanted to get a souvenir, but couldn't find something suitable until I went to the book section of the souvenir shop and found that they sold copies of Darwin's book, On The Origin Of Species. Perfect choice. It was a hard cover version with the museum imprinted on the spine, and I will treasure it always.
Aron's presentation style is accessible to an person if that person sits and listens , and asks relevant questions afterwards.
This is a brilliant lecture. Informative, engaging and funny. Well done, sir.
As per usual, of course.
I listened to this as I was getting ready and driving to work. This presentation was so good I had to replay it!
Aron ra is the goat of atheism. Still making it entertaining to this day.
ARon Ra is a coward that is afraid to meet Kent Hovind in a formal debate.
Entertaining?
No, humans and goats are from different lineages. At best you can say they have a common ancestor.
@@93lozfan "Goat" by context is probably meant as G.O.A.T. (Greatest of All Time) Even with the amount of time I spend on the internet, that's one example of slang that I still have to look up sometimes. Partly because I so rarely come across it.
@@KianaWolf this is a video on taxonomy. I thought the sarcasm was obvious.
Calm, logical and brilliant presentation as always. Aron makes complicated information understandable and accessible to everyone.
i saw humpback whales off the east coast of Australia on the weekend. It was really awesome.
Thank you for this wonderful presentation Aron. Keep up the good work
Thank you, Aron. 😀👍We appreciate you.
Fish or whale? Unrelated but in Japanese, whale is 鯨 (kujira). This ideogram is composed of fish (魚) and great or huge (京). So Japanese people saw this it as a “great fish” or “huge fish” (“京" can be translated to other meaning too but irrelevant here).
Before taxonomy and realizing whales are mammals, many other civilizations saw the whales as just big fish like any other creature swimming in the sea. So, Bible writers probably saw the whales as just big fish too.
Just my 2 yen here.
Nice lecture Aron. I've actually encountered a right whale and a humpback whale while swimming at a beach in North Carolina and they looked awesome.
Would you ever consider doing a series on the evolution of plants, or on the evolution of fungi? Those are among my special interests, as a homestead gardener.
Go to my photosynthesis playlist, about 70% of the way down Anthony Pain has some videos on plant evolution, and there are other in the lower half of the list.
Homestead gardener eh? I bet there isn't mushroom in your schedule but I bet you're still a fungi! 😆
(I'll get me coat...)
Are plants even real
I was there at this presentation. He had a Q & A, that for some reason was not included here. Someone asked the very same question. He said that he just doesn't know much about plant evolution. And, he thinks viewership of plant evolution would be much lower as humans just are more interested in animals. But, he also said that he would like to learn about plant evolution as he enjoys learning. So he didn't seem to completely rule it out. But, don't hold your breath.
@@Aengus42 When they made you, they broke the mold 😜
Always a whale of a good time with Aron Ra!! 🐋
I love this video series. Thanks for everything you do Aron.
You give you're love away really easy
Have to admit your lectures are my favorite format , I watch all of them
I love how you point out the good reasons mistakes were made, instead of merely snickering "oh, how wrong they were"
Aron, you're damned good at these talks. Holding a small audience not with pazzaz, brash showmanship, outright lies and frocks as theists have always done but with the state of our current knowledge & how we've got here. This is one of my favourite topics too.
I really should get over there to see you do this in person seeing as I missed you in London!
(If I had feet I'd be kicking myself still 😆)
Looking forward to this new series!
Cheers mate!🍻
I have glass candle stick holders and compote that have the shape of Victorian dolphins.
They are very fish like with a square head. It's like the artists forgot to ask the mariners what dolphins look like.
The patterns continued for decads. So who knows how long people are/ were confused.
Loving the presentation! It is such an interesting topic. Keep up the good work, Aron! Love you man!
So much respect for all the work you put in these presentations.
Your paleontology series are always such a treat!
Whale evolution is crazy. Amazing how much they have changed.
amazing how many good indicators of the change and the stages of the change are found.
AronRa, too cool! And made being awake at 3 or 4 am so worth it. This was great and I'm excited for more.👍💙💝💙🥰✌
Nice presentation on a fascinating topic, I'm looking forward to the next part
'At the Waters Edge: Fish With Fingers Whales with Legs' by Carl Zimmer (awesome well rounded intro to the history of tetrapod/cetacean Paleontology and Paleontologists.)
'The Rise of Marine Mammals' by Annalisa Berta
'Cetacean Paleobiology' by Felix Marx, Oliver Lambert and Mark D. Uhen
'The Walking Whales' by JGM "Hans" Thewissen
This is one of the subjects I'm most fascinated about, especially since there's so much actually in all of this - especially vs what science deniers want to pretend about the fossil record of whales. Hope a longer more detailed format of this can be in our future.
I learned so much, thanks! Today is not wasted as I look to learn something (new and true) every day.
@AronRa. THIS IS A SCAM. No not contact this person
Wonderfully done!
Thank you Aron for, yet again, a very interesting video.
This lecture is for the "thinking ones". Maybe hard to remember the names but definitely will stir you to learn more.
Unless you count the part where he said 1568 was the medieval period when it was actually from 500 AD to 1500 AD and it was only in Western Europe and nowhere else
This was fascinating, and a joy to watch. I hope he continues making videos about this because I would love to learn more
Part 1 of 3ish.
The "Houston oasis" video of this was on my recommended videos yesterday, so i watched then.
I think its well worth watching again.
Very interesting.
Thank you Mr. Ra
Really enjoying these different series' on evolution, cant wait to see more.
Thanks AronRa it was an amazing lecture!
I love your videos and have learned so much! Thank you for the free education.
Perfect blend and balance between mocking creationist idiocy and teaching parts of the biology of whale evolution. Kudos.
If Aron did a video on the evolution of paint drying, it would somehow be informative and entertaining and I am sure we would all learn something from it.
Thanks for another great video.
Good morning Aron, I am British from London mate. Love your videos, you do extremely important work in educating people especially people like myself, so when we hear creationist nonsense we can give a fairly coherent reply. Even if I do not know all the answers thanks to you and the likes of Erica the Gutsick Gibbon I know where to get them. You are scientific garlic to creationist vampires A rationilst Godzilla to a creationist Smog Monster. .
Just for your information, mister Brit: it's a fake Aron.
"You give me the awful impression, I hate to have to say it, of someone who hasn't read any of the arguments against your position ever." - Hitchens
I love that quote and have used it myself to good effect.
I doubt Hitchens would fall for this whale human nonsense
@@sleepisthecousinofdeath7395but the video is not talking about whales turning into humans, are you actually insane?
I really thought the internet would be the end of all religions, some 30 years ago. It seems, the bubble believers are in, is stronger than I thought. They just don't want to change their views according to the facts. Therefore, a huge thanks to people like the four horsemen, to keep on doing this seemingly useless thing. It isn't useless, of course, but at times it surely feels like it.
@@sleepisthecousinofdeath7395 whale human nonsense? What are you referring to?
Thanks ever. These videos are completely wonderful ❤
Love hearing Arons voice speak
Awesome presentation!
I've been waiting for this for so long, love your content and ceteceans are my favourite animals!
These are always great.
Honestly, watching Aron's science videos is fascinating; his ability to present all the data up to the current date in an easy-to-understand way makes the science feel more "real," if you get my drift. Like, yeah, any biology teacher worth their salt can present the info, but the difference lies in how the info is presented, and Aron can bring that in a way that never feels dry, or like he's talking down to anyone. He connects the dots, as they stand at present, and isn't afraid to say, "Yeah, up until last year, this is what the evidence told us about how this species evolved; then this new evidence was found that made us reevaluate our understanding." Like he says, science is a self-correcting system.
Time to go rewatch the Systematic Classification of Life series!
The whale lineage of the fossil record has some interesting characters among each transitional species.
Thanks, Aron, a fascinating video. 👍
Even though some of the nomenclature went over my head (my Master's is in English), this is brilliantly informative. Keep the lectures coming! I may not be able to afford to go back to school, but that won't stop me from continuing to learn. Would love to witness a presentation of yours in person one day.
Superb!
Good stuff. Looking forward to the rest.
I love this stuff! Thank you for your efforts.
Thanks!
I have never looked at the idea of learning these different topics as much as I do when I listen to Aron give a lecture on things like this. Wonder when the course study manual comes out!
Peace
Whale evolution is my favourite
This is great!
amazing and insightful as always
Fair enough but the Medieval period was actually from 500 A.D to 1500 A.D also the Medieval period only happened in Western Europe and nowhere else and medieval knights were only in Europe also believe it or not there was actually an Islamic golden age from 622 A.D till 1258 A.D and what emerged from that was coffee flying machines and surgery
Learn something everyday. Bats are closer related to whales then they are to rodents. This stuff fascinates me.
I loved the rocky horror reference ❤️
yayy thank you, i love whales soo much
good stuff, awesome
that is exactly what i was looking for, but this presentation is really informative and visual
:)
looking forward to more of these
Woohooo!
Thank you Aronra.
Im always amazed by the direct lineage of the " spread eagle " and " star fish " . Keeps me awake at night!
how exciting!!!
Medieval monks considered the beaver to be a kind of fish (for the purposes of lent), so the questions of biblical taxonomy should also be take with a giant grain of salt.
Fossil history is soo cool.
@AronRa. A small town, that is not doing well and out of abject poverty.
Grew up in a decrypt farm house, walls with holes, in them, only a wood stove for heat, and the front room floor was made of dirt.
Some say we are in a new epoch called the Anthropocene, while that may be the case, I look forward to the Atheiocene. Thanks for what you do Aron.
Great video as always. Id love to see a video on the evolution of hyenas!
Excellent video. I love a good history lesson
Many were increasingly of the opinion that they’d all made a big mistake in coming down from the trees in the first place. And some said that even the trees had been a bad move, and that no one should ever have left the oceans.
13:00 on top of all of that, if mosasaurs were still around there would absolutely be an entire highly lucrative industry centered around hunting them
The game Mastermind should be used as a teaching tool in primary schools.
This is a very interesting lecture, thank you!
Geo Girl did recently did a video of reptiles that went back in the ocean during dinosaur days - "Mesozoic Marine Reptiles: Dolphins🐬 or Sea Monsters🦈? GEO GIRL"
This was a whale of a good time :)
love these
I’m saving this for the morning 😂
Another fascinating and informative presentation; keep them coming!
Oh, and the question of drinking liquids under another liquid... clearly you never went to the varsity I went to LOL!!!
It's interesting how (scientifically accurate) mosasaurus and basilosaurus looks so similar.
These are some of my favorite videos from Aron.
@@frankhuggins9733in your deluded brain, meanwhile here in reality Ra has evidence.
@frankhuggins9733 have you arranged your discussion with Aron yet, where you are "easily" going to defeat him discussing evolution?
@@herbieshine1312 pretty sure he hasn't lol
@keniag5 he's claiming Aron won't respond to him.
Which could be the case if he's shown himself untrustworthy.
I'm sure Aron gave him someway to contact him in a previous video comment section
@@frankhuggins9733If all you can do is lie, and lie so obviously, then why do you even try anymore?

YAYYYYYY!!!!!!
Another series.
That illustration behind Aron beats all hell out of a turducken I'm just sayin'.
My avatar is the skull of a Pilot Whale. Fun fact, Pilot Whale is a dolphin, that are also known as Blackfish
Actually Aron the medieval era was from 500 A.D to 1500 A.D all those illustrations were made during the early modern period from 1501 A.D to 1799 A.D and the medieval period was only in western Europe and nowhere else
Damn facts and accuracy.
@@kidslovesatan34 yeah tell me about it
"Medieval period was only in western Europe." Excuse me? Eastern Europe? What's that?
@@ExtremeMadnessXin parts of Eastern Europe they lasted a lot longer.
@@ConontheBinarianso no offense but it’s like the majority of people get this wrong

@AronRa.Piss off fake account.
One hell of a take on the 'Turducken' that. Never let Heston see that image....
There are good laughs to be had in the comments.
good morning Albinos
Looking at the fish illustration at 6:00, it doesn't look to me like the fish scales are drawn over the people. They even cast shadows on the scales, and they're praying in front of the altar which is definitely not inside the fish because the crucifix on top of it is outside.
Very well presented, Aron. 👏🏼
Move over crocoduck here comes the whippo.
I have insomnia & I’m also on the Paleo Diet…
Hey, did you know that bats and cetaceans can both echolocate?
Creationist: According to scientists whales evolved from bats!
Hi everyone, I am a converted Christian. Been an Atheist now for about 10 years. I have a question about evolution, it is one that was always used as a so to say "gotcha" by Christians. Every time I look it up I land up on some religious site, been a few years now and I'm exploring that question again. Please may you provide me with some guidance or links so I may research this more. The question was always "if evolution was true, what told the animals to stop evolving. Like monkeys or apes to not become human." I'm sure the answer is straight forward to most of you :D. Love this channel, been a sub for a good 7 years now!
Nothing ever stopped evolving. Nor does biodiversity in any way imply a final form like "turning human". Instead, the earliest monkeys lead to incredible variety, including one lineage that led to humans.
@@AronRa thank you so much for this. Makes perfect sense, I was definitely overthinking this question. Have thoroughly enjoyed your bibles series.
@@CyberStudios Aron is right and wrong. Nothing stops evolving BUT everything will evolve into its final form:
the CRAB 🦀🦀🦀
Humans are very new to the scene, so the number of novel species that evolved after us is comparatively small. On top of that, the time we spent paying attention to evolution in real time is basically infinitesimal.
Yet, we know early humans did see animals that don't exist anymore (like ground sloths and mammoths) and some animals today didn't exist back then (polar bears, bedbugs)
Ahh so good
