This was such a great video, Kimberly!!! Especially for those of us with quilting experience to add to our skill set. Now, my brain probably couldn’t initially do with the math that you did but it was easy to follow you. I really hope you will do the second part just like this one because I know you have great tips with sewing strips together!!! You can’t not do it after the thoroughness you did with the first section!!!!❤❤❤

Cutting larger is a great idea for those of us who have difficulty getting our block to come out the right size no matter what we do. I appreciate learning your technique.

Agreed! Mine always seem to be about 1/4-inch smaller than what they are supposed to be and I have no clue why. I probably don't have a true 1/4-inch seam even though I sew with a guided foot.

I started quilting and always changed patterns. I could never leave it alone. It is nice to see I am not the only one. My challenge for next year is to follow 3 patterns exactly as they are (except fabric my stash is so big I have scale down). This year I am organizing my sewing room. Thank you for sharing! I appreciate you!

You can't make everyone happy so i really hope you stay true to yourself and just keep showing how you do things whether its complicated or not. I love how you show different ways to help us make blocks more true to the pattern sizes. I have definitely improved and think i am ready to start Spangled now that you have explained a few things. Love FQS!!

I absolutely love seeing you ‘over complicate’ things. When I have trouble getting my blocks to come out using the standard, basic method I need your ‘complications’ to fix my problems! PLEASE keep instructing this way; just like making a pattern our own we can choose to be complicated (or not), but we can only do this if you also give us the complications . ❤️😉☺️

I do learn alot from your style of sewing. I haven't adopted every tip, but my sewing has become more accurate. For me just slowing down and valuing accuracy is the key. You've been a role model for valuing accuracy. I used to sew just to "get it done" but now I am enjoying the process more. At any rate, you have a loyal follower as I tune in each week. Enjoy your time off and please know you have made a positive difference in this world. 🌍

Hi, Dawn from Illinois. Love the great service and E-mail interactions with your fulfillment department when needed. I enjoy watching the RUclips offerings.
You asked about our opinion about whether to show your methods for accuracy, or to demonstrate a straight forward process for a pattern. For a seasoned quilter like me I prefer to see simply the process. I understand your need for as perfect an end product as possible. For a newer quilter including your changes might be confusing to them and they might question wastage of fabric.
Since you own the business, you can afford to starch, buy extra fabric, have someone professionally quilt your tops. I am retired, I do my own piecing, purchase quilt shop quality fabric only, and I quilt my own quilts on a domestic Piaff machine, and hand finish my bindings.
I so appreciate your you tube offerings. My best to you Kimberly.

Hi, as a very beginner I find in the beginning it sounds over complicated but as the blocks go together your complicated explanations begin to make perfect sense, also it allows me to make me see why and how blocks can be made perfectly. I guess that yes I do like all your complications, so don't change.

I love it when you show us how you cut and sew. Sometimes I do the same thing especially when I know the finished size matters. Thanks for showing us Spangled. I would never have considered this quilt in the fabric shown but I love how you saw it in Lori Holt fabrics.

I love the over complicated format! Challenges the brain cells and it’s fun to try new things. 😊 and there’s always playback😂
I have always loved Kim Diehl’s books and patterns and am glad to know that she is still being published. Safe travels!

I really appreciate how you broke down the pattern. It makes perfect sense and , I feel that it makes the quilt more manageable. I also really like that you use one background in each block.
