I think it probably has something to do with how cities are laid out in Norway v. America. The anti-walkable nature of American cities is not conducive to positive effects on mood and physical health. That or she just misses seeing family or whatnot, idk im a random person throwing out guesses
I think it's also the fact they can walk around freely with out fear of being hassled by mentally ill people like they have in the US hence the security they hire when they are out

I was in Stavanger for 4 days on one of my deployments last year, I was out all 4 days drinking and so were all of those graduates in the red and blue jumpsuits. They were a lot of fun.
I couldn’t celebrate this year. Worked night shift from the 12th to 19th, so i had to spend the entire 17th sleeping :( Hopefully i will be able next year, it’s such a good day to have fun.
there will be never a stream like this ever again, just bare that in mind. it's such a sad thing happened this year personally, but i wish nothing but the best for them.

Well this is also a particularly happy day :) But yeah, as tradition a lot of people drink from probably around 09:00 so the disparity between "bad" drunkenness and what you'd expect can indeed be quite unique. 17th of May is on a whole just a very nice day, even with the drunkenness that may occur.
