Every State that I ever lived in, the Law was if you pay them their Final Payment upon completion of a Job, that means Acceptance of the Work Done! That was an incredibly ignorant thing to do, giving them a Check and Paying them in Full. Then, to Cancel that Check, was just Dumb Insult to Injury! I can hear the Judge in Court: "Ma'am, if you had presence of Mind enough to Cancel the Check, why didn't you use the same presence of Mind Not to write it and hand it to them in the first place..." There is much more to this story that's not being said...

They didn't "give" her a free driveway. They simply shuffled around some dirt on an elderly couple's property, because they couldn't find other work to do, and then insisted on a payment. It's really not that hard to work out.

I've lived in cities, suburbs, and rural areas. I currently live in a very rural area of Texas and yes, I do own guns and I've had training in the military on how to use them. I am pro 2nd Amendment. Having told you that I can tell you that in the cities and suburbs that I've lived in you would probably be arrested for doing that. Whether you agree or disagree with me is immaterial. Your actions could be construed as brandishing a weapon and it would most likely end up with you being arrested. But again, you do whatever you want to do. Me, I would much rather just call 911 and let them and the courts deal with the problem than get arrested over something stupid.

The home owners are scammers playing victim, the company did there job and didn't get paid, funny how the Ring notification went to there cell phones and they could see work being done but didn't return home until wayyyy later......

In some states, stop order on a check after-the-fact constitutes fraud. That works against the homeowner if the case goes to court.
