Dick Dodd passed away due to cancer on 11/29/2013.
Contrary to the statements posted elsewhere that Dick was unable to perform due to his illness, you can clearly see that Dick was still quite capable of performing and desirous of doing so. On another website belonging to one of Dick's former band mates, Dick was mocked for his difficulty in mounting the drum riser in this video. At the time of this performance Dick had terminal cancer. A tumor was pressing upon his spine. He also had cancer of the liver, spleen, esophagus and brain He performed in spite of that. It was his last performance. Claims elsewhere that Dick had a substance abuse problem were false. He had stage four cancer.
Filmed at The Coach House June 1, 2013.Dick Dodd sang the hit song Dirty Water in 1965 and toured with The Rolling Stone on their 1966 USA tour. Dirty Water is listed in the The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's "500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll."

I'm blown away. I was there that night and I had no idea that Dick was ill. He was in great spirits- joking around, telling stories from the road, and just being cool. I remember being impressed with his positive, energetic personality. What an honor it was to play harp at this gig. R.I.P. Dick.

Dickie's a cool guy. It was great meeting him, hearing stories from the road, and of course it was an honor performing with him. Thanks for sharing!

I met Dick back in the sixties when the Standells were touring the country. He touched my heart and left me smiling whenever I thought of him all these years.

I didn't know him well, but back in the early 70,s a friend of mine Danny Anderson and I sort of sub-let his apt. in Huntington Beach,California. We used to go watch him play at a club in Newport with a band called the Blitz Brothers. I always knew him as a great guy with a good sense of humor,,sorry to hear about his passing RIP

Sounds mighty good. Dick may have left The Standells behind but, he was the voice of them when they had their 60's hits. He's who I prefer to hear singing those songs today.

"HAVE YOU HEARD ABOUT DICK DODD , BABY?!
    HE'S THE MAN , HE'S THE MAN !!"
Words can't hurt Dodd ,anymore. And that foul "Mr. C" went down , too , when he learned he could'nt hold Dickie for long.
Dick had so much timbre in his voice as an older man. I LOVE his singing on the old records , but , when I saw the reformed group in '99 , Dick's sideline , doing Soul music , really gave his voice more grit and resonance , as heard here.
