@@gvaspirated He's got a point. My first car was a pontiac firebird, of similar size and I didn't complain about it. If you have to, get someone to stand at the very corner of your car so you can see what the clearance looks like next to something close so you can better gauge the space. I got a 5th gen camaro recently and felt right at home. The older models of firebird/camaro were very similar in their stance and visibility, give or take little differences between the model years. Also, why would you force your bike into the trunk damaging your interior with such an expensive investment? It's like everytime you do it, your just throwing money away. The way you handle the explanation of the coolant/heat part makes it sound like you don't realize there were engineers that work on this stuff. I don't mean to be offensive but he does have a point.

A thing I hate about my 2012 camaro ss is the leaky oil pan. And to further make it more complicated to change the oil pan gasket they put a crossmember right beneath it so you can't change it without either raising the engine or cutting the crossmember out and wielding it back in. They should have made it a bolt in crossmember for removing the oil pan.

    • @isnowyazn

I’m gonna try to be aware of that. I just got my first ever 5th gen, 2010 Chevy Camaro 2SS (RS package, Ground Effects) manual coupe.
I lifted up the car and noticed that even as a NOS (new old stock) car with barely 20k miles, the engine oil cooler by the oil filter housing, was leaking. The STEALERship tried to hide it and pass it off on me, as well as some other worn rear passenger suspension parts. It feels like either something is rubbing as I’m turning left and right, in the rear; as well as maybe something causing the suspension and wheel to actually hop/rebound up and down drastically.

  • @herewegoagain...

    1) The LS3's cooling issues have nothing to do with the location of the coolant hose. Coolant runs at over 200 degrees; the "hot" air from the engine does not have any marketable effect on it. If anything, the coolant hose warming the air in the intake manifold would be more of a concern. The engine cover is unnecessary, but I don't know how much it really has any effect on cooling. The primary issue with the Camaro in terms of cooling is that the radiator is garbage. It is way too thin for a 6.2L engine.
    2) Dimensionally, the mail slot, if it was open, would not provide any consequential airflow for cooling.
    3) Totally fair; this car is too heavy.
    4) Yes, the porthole of an opening is pretty bad.
    5) Visibility vs Style. Yes, you can hide a suburban in the C-Pillar, but it looks awesome. A full glass house would look dumb.
    6) The skip shift was installed to skirt the gas guzzler tax, so GM saved you a couple thousand dollars. Day to day, I never hit the skip shift. Stop driving like a grandma.
    7) Many cars do this, but yes, 100% agree, the Challenger does it better with the cup holder off to the side on the side.
    8) The screen is a design from the mid 2000's, designed to mimic an older style radio. Nicer tech simply was not available in a cost effective package when this car was developed. It's not great, but it's not offensive either.
    9) The 2010 Steering wheel has gone down as one of the worst in the industry. Even the teardrop cross section is angled to dig into your hand. +1 on an aftermarket one.
    10) The dash material is trash. No way around it, it sucks. The lit trim is super cool, but the dash sucks.
Finally, why do you have a bullet in your charger door area?

  • @petermad152

Okay here's my opinions with my 2013:
1- with heat issues maybe something with your car cuz I live in Dubai and man lemme tell you it is the hottest country I've ever been like i've lived in visited a lot of hot ass countries like Saudi arabia, nothing compared to Dubai, yet thankfully the car never had heating probs.
2- ever since I started looking for camaros I kept only looking for 2012+ because of that old damn ugly steering wheel.
3- my old car was a manual and I went for automatic because of the traffic and small roads around here, never regretted it.
4- I fucking hate the plastic of the car especially since I have subwofer in the trunk that make everything squeek including the sunroof (be thankful you don't have that)
5- I've had my car for around 8 months now yet still stick my head out of the window.
6- I have the MyLink screen and I only use it for playing music, totally not worth it without the GPS package and it's absurd that the back camera only works with GPS package.
7- The previous owner had a back camera installed on it that works on the middle mirror, never use it for parking yet it's useful when you're backing up directly to the street it can show you the cars coming.
8- Most important one is whenever I look at her I forget all these flaws above and enjoy tf out of her.

But seriously bro, you really did buy the wrong car. You knew MOST all of this before you bought the car. What am I missing??? It is a SPORTS CAR! And not even a luxury sport. There are a couple of things you wouldn't have known, but in general you knew the steering wheel design, trunk design, engine design, cup holder, non-functional mail slot, the weigh, and the visibility. Again, having said that, what the heck am I missing??? I have a 2012 2SS and I love the freakin' car. I bought a Carbon Creation Hood because of that look as well as the fact that it's actually functional. It has the dual line of vents down either side of the scoop. But I didn't buy it because the car was running hot. I don't live in DC but I work in DC, and trust me that's a lot of stop and go, mostly stop, and it is a 6 speed. I bought the car because it can get out of its own way. Therefore when I can stretch it out, no problem. No one, No one would ever in their widest dreams buy a sports car for trunk space or convenience. Yes sir, the visibility is low, it only causes you to constantly pay more attention to what's going on around you, not necessarily a bad thing. And to have your mirrors perfectly adjusted. Unfortunately most people have their mirrors adjusted where they can see the side of their car. The side of your car is not going to do you any harm.
As far as the 1st to 2nd gear; my car doesn't get to see 1st gear, unless I'm stopped on a hill, which isn't very often. You can drive the car perfectly fine not using 1st gear WITHOUT burning up the clutch IF YOU CAN DRIVE. You wouldn't be harming anything. I've been driving it that way for years now. You are not going to burn up anymore gas or the clutch, IF YOU CAN DRIVE. I started doing that almost from day one because I'm not racing from light to light nor do I drive like a little old lady, it's perfect. With all due RESPECT my brother, you should ask yourself why you bought the car, and perhaps considering selling to someone who in interested in purchasing a really nice SPORTS CAR. Incidentally, my rear view camera is in the rear view mirror , if it wasn't it just wouldn't be and issue. Lots of cars have them in the dash. Again, with all due respect... Peace

I took mine to a tuner to turn off the MDS. Other than the visibility it is a perfect car. Mine is a drop top so the visibility is not terrible with the top down. Mine does not run hot. If anything, it stays in the bottom 1/3rd of the gauge. Yours should not run hot - I think you need to flush your coolant and change your thermostat. I agree they are too heavy but it sure holds the road nice.

The 2ss has upgraded interior with factory backup camera and touch screen.. And yes the trunk opening is small but its a muscle car not a daily commuter. Too many people forget chevy designed the car to haul ass not your shit around. All love tho nice video:)

Hey man thanks for your comment. I jut dont get how other muscle cars have a better opening and same storage space, yet the camaro doesnt? That's my point. Also, the skip shift is from factory, most problems from factory can be solved with after market products, I'm aware of that. But still it's something that bothers me from the factory. Well yeah the newer refreshed gen's interior triumphs over these 2010-2011 camaros by far.

The mustang and challenger can fit a bike for those who are interested in doing so. Why could the camaro not? Clearly a sports car is not ideal for it, but they still offer the space for them.

  • @womack5086
    @womack5086 2 года назад +1

Well if I might add -there is very little inside lighting, ZERO, in the back seat. The sun visors are too short and do not block no sun. Oh, no light in the glove box. The slots on the doors could have been wider to include cup holders. Visibility is very bad. I still don’t trust my outside closeness to objects.I think we just pay for a motor and tires. Kinda like the designers thought we would be on the track all the time and didn’t need nothing but maybe gas. I can say the center console lid is still intact unlike my last 3 Camaros. The backseat is a improvement. But I am still in love with the Camaro. It was love at first sight for me in the early 70’s.

I have the 2014 1LT Automatic, so most of this list isn't applicable on my 6-cylinder. However, you hit on some common points:
Trunk = What the heck is up with that? I have to do some crazy machinations just to get anything of decent size through the opening.
View = This was nuts for me at first seeing as how I've been driving a Camry for so long. It's like the difference between being in an open field (Camry) and being in the dead center of the Amazon rain forest (Camaro). I quickly learned how to use my side mirrors appropriately, and I now stick my head out in order to back into spaces. Rainy days are always fun. And yes - backing into spaces is a MUST because the worst driving experience in the world is trying to back OUT of a space in this thing. A parade of Abrams tanks could be passing by and I wouldn't know it until I was tank tread.
Steering Wheel = I have the Chevy logo wheel, and it just doesn't quite go with the car. It's like a muscle car and a jalopy hooked up and had a steering wheel baby, and this thing is it.
Having stated all of that, so far I've greatly enjoyed this ride. It's my daily and hasn't given me any problems. I've only had it for a year (6k miles), though, so we'll see. She's up to 49k miles so far.

For me I have a 2010 Camaro SS with ~115K miles on it.
I got it with only a few hundred miles on it in late 2010.
Worst things about the 5th Gen Camaro:
-A/C unit was $2000+ to replace when it went bad after 5 years. They have to remove the dash and lift it out through the windshield to replace it. These units go bad all the time and R-134 leaks are common.
-Boston Acoustics speakers blew up *3-4 times* under warranty within the first 36 months/36000 miles and are still busted 12 years later (I gave up) 2010 year radio (non-touchscreen) is antiquated
-USB only recognizes Apple iPhone and antiquated technology. I have to use USB-C to auxiliary connection to play music from my Samsung phone and cigarette lighter ports and chargers -separately if I want to charge it. Can't do both at once.
-This car could have definitely benefited from a back-up camera.
-There was a key fob ignition recall issued back around 2011-13 I believe. They just take your key and take the key part off and then try to hand you a generic key and just the neutered remote. I refused and made them fix the key again. Both of my OEM 2010 keyfobs have deteriorated and buttons are taped in place or made out of pencil eraser.
-If a rubber piece falls off your radio you have to apparently order the entire $400 unit to replace that piece unless you go to a junkyard and find one.
-Window roll-up failures where it falls back down. Wires can get pinched in the door and you can lock yourself out just by opening the door and getting out on accident. The trunk button won't work unless the door is shut for me sometimes and it is annoying as hell because it will half-ass open sometimes I have to hold the button down and lift on the lid.
    -Stock exhaust sucks so bad.
-If you put a sticker on the radio screen and leave it there for a month it permanently scars the plastic in the shape of that sticker.

    • @gvaspirated
      @gvaspirated  Год назад

reading this made me laugh so hard because every single thing you listed I currently or had experienced during my ownership. Only things I didn't experience was the radio sticker, rubber piece falling off and stock exhaust. The ac unit is my biggest concern now. I need to address it and I remember it being a nightmare to fix... such a dumb design too.
