    Great review. Thanks..
I would encourage anyone to test drive the XF before buying a German car.
I have the 3.0 s and on my first journey I got 47mpg at a steady 70mph. It's so smooth and quiet and the interior is amazing. At night it's really cool too with the blue ambient lighting inside.
I got mine for 10k with 80k on the clock and it looks and drives like new.
The 20 inch wheels i have do look good but there is a price to pay. The ride is a little harder.

I had an older shape to this XF, 2009 model and loved it. Now I have the new shape XF and it pales in comparison as far as fit, finish, quality is concerned. The body is all aluminum and the body just feels too light. I loved the heavy feel of my older XF because you could "feel" the car while driving it and just know what it's doing but the new car is numb and uninspiring. It looks awesome, but the drive doesn't live up to the looks and neither does the interior. I'm currently looking for a very low mileage XFR and will go back to the older XF.

Rather strangely, and I dont mean this as criticism - this car reminds me a lot of a Holden Commodore (the last Australian made ones, not the current imported one). Generally the same conservative quality impression, similar size - even very similar in small things like the steering wheel and the plug ins in the centre divider.

      @Al8minium 7 лет назад +2

I love the style and ride comfort. Acceleration is not that quick by todays standards but it's adequate.
The torque from the 3 litre diesels makes for an effortless drive and no turbo lag, surprisingly quiet too.
I've owned mine four years now, no problems so far at 80k miles.

Im about to buy one of these LOVE the clean uncluttered centre console and the top quality leather seats. Its great NOT to have gear lever, handbrake and all that CRAP where I want. to have my ipod, coffee etc. A HUGE step forward others need to follow. I tried out the Beemer 5 series and the Audi, nice cars but SO BLAND inside and boring and lacking in ‘extras’
    This car gives you
    A built in USB SOCKET
    an AUX socket
A dedicated 12v socket inside the centre console......
    AND
    ITS PROPER REAR WHEEL DRIVE
Not the wimpy limp standard front wheel drive that throws you in a ditch in a tiny bit of rain or snow
I dont like the road noise but guys buy M5’s and rag the ass off them so they CAN HEAR THEM INSIDE SO..????????????
Audis I am afraid are SOOOOOO old fashioned now they have become the new ‘family car’ meaning in trade terms B O R I N G!
Audis and Discos have become the new ‘kiddy car/shopping cart/ soccer mom’ heap they no longer turn heads
    BUT
THE XF DOES! It does have bad points but again is RWD! RWD.........REAR......WHEEL .......DRIVE! The germans got it right when their designers pointed out......
“Rear wheels should drive.......FRONT WHEELS SHOULD STEER...... when you change that equation things go wrong”
I do wish the whole motor industry would go back to fitting PROP SHAFTS and driving the back wheels .....so i we want a bit of drifting.......WE DO IT........not the front wheel drive heap that torque steers you into a tree/ditch/coffin!
Well done Jaguar but sort out the few ‘niggles’..........7/10👍🏻(

Great review sir. This XF stole my heart and this year maybe i will make the big step and buy it. You sound like an E350 Benz fan. Not a bad car as well but the rear is ugly. Im between 2014 XF s portfolio , Bmw 640d gran coupe and Audi a7 quattro. All 2014 and all 3.0L diesel. Now when all new gen cars have low emissions a powerful diesel its a must buy

For those who dont know how yo make your car look like a beast.
    1. Change the bodywork to red
    2. Change your rims to black
    3. Go fast

The 3.0 is 5.9 the seconds not 6.7 i timed both cars myself
