The concept of using sunset tv on youtube/ingame on tv’s to promote the game/voting on future outfits while also giving brandon a sort of story that has its conclusion ingame in the final DLC is still really cool.
I played it now (4/5. 2024) the first time. I was wondering what the screens were good for because they do not work anymore. So i fought an dlc end boss i never saw before in the game 😅 but it still is a lot of fun. Well aged.

I loved this game, watching this makes me want to replay it. One of my favourite moments is in the Mooil Rig DLC; after helping a guy who locked himself and his mother inside a room a few times, eventually the mothers voice changes to sound like him impersonating her. After finishing the quest line he comes out of the room dressed as his mother, and I think there was even a Psycho music sting. The player character then says "I bet most players are too young to get that reference." There's another point that I forget if it's in the Fallen Machines DLC, or just the end of the main game, but you have to get nanobots to stick to the outside of this energy sphere around you, which the player says feels "very Metroid-y"
Here are some references: For deaths, you had the mummy, dracula, back to the future (sometimes you show up in the Delorian), the drill is Journey to the Center of the Earth (The original novel used a drill to get to the center and back). Also, in the character creation / customization, Rinnegan eyes from Naruto are an option.
Microsoft doesnt own the sunset overdrive ip anymore since sony bought insomniac games so technically sunset overdrive could be released on playstation at any time it just depends if thats what sony wants
The cutscene near the end of the game where Player says they need to go back and save their friends and the captain says "What if I say no?" they pull out two guns that quickly turn into multiple guns, and it's a reference to the movie The Mask where Jim Carey does the same. One of the references I actually got on my first playthrough because I love The Mask.
I'm pretty sure there's a Back to the Future and Doctor Who respawn Easter egg you missed Edit: There is also a few more you missed. There's one for The Ring (Your character comes out of a television) and one where your character slides in (like Risky Business) Edit 2: After looking through them, I don't think there is a doctor who one...probably got it confused with the Bill and Ted 😅

I don’t remember when, but there is a point when your character says “Warriors, come out to play” which is a reference to the 1979 movie, “The Warriors.” Also, in the mission where you have to find the rich kids parents by climbing up the two buildings, if you fall off, two portals (blue and orange of course) will appear and set you back to a save point.

I played this game back when I was in college on my roommate's old Xbox and sadly after I left I couldn't afford the console, but it honestly made it better when I found out you can get the game on Steam. I'm still playing to this day!

Sorry. Okay, in Skylanders swap force, in the Woodburrow rest area, there's an area that you can practice your powers on training dummies. Any, beside the dummies, are white flowers, and of you walk through them, they change color based on the element you're using. Fire red. Water blue. Earth brown. Air light blue. Tech yellow. Life green. Magic purple. Undead black. Now for the sad Easter egg. There is a water Skylander named zap, and his soul gem is called for Riley. Why is it called that? Well, during the making of Skylanders, and testing out zap, there was a young boy named Riley, and he was a huge fan of Skylanders and zap. But sadly he died later on, because he has a special condition. The developers were very sad about it, and named zap's soul gem after Riley, to pay tribute for him. If you want to know more, google zap. I hope this helps.
There's another respawn animation where you fly in in the DeLorean, then Marty McFly runs in to fly it away. Marty is sometimes replaced by Walter, after his major events in the game conclude. You also missed that the respawn in the ending mission is a Beetlejuice reference. So many great references in this game! I really want a sequel too.
I believe this should count as a hidden detail. I was playing sea of thieves the other day, and was entering the flameheart cavern for his tall tale, and had a bit of a mix-up with my friend as i got trapped, and i got trapped in the cavern. Im not sure what triggered it, me drowning, or I was stuck in the same area too long, but flameheart felt it necessary to ask if i was lost.
