awesome tool and work quality!

Many years ago before the advent of CNC machine tools, Capstan and Turret Lathes used to use something called a Roller Box. It was a similar idea except that it used 2 hardened steel rollers and a turning tool. The rollers formed two points of a triangle in the form of a 3 point steady with the point of the turning tool being the third point. The surface finish was always better than a simple turned surface plus it relieved most of the side pressure on the Lathe Spindle bearings and so it was also suitable for turning small diameters that would otherwise flex.
Thank you very much mr Myorky, yes with that you could also machine thin and long bars, the turned ridges were crushed but it was still not a mirror surface

Hi Maurizio, love the things you are doing, I'll be looking at building one of these in the future. I'm certainly glad you put the English translation on as a subtitle, my Italian is not so good, despite visiting on numerous occasions for holidays and work. I’m a little confused by your use of the word “doily” though. A doily is a cloth or paper napkin that you might put cakes on, on a tray when you have afternoon tea. Have a look at the English version of Wikipedia. If you could clarify I’d really appreciate it. Cheers, Bill.
Thank you very much Bill, very kind, Italian is full of words with many meanings, an accent is enough to change everything.
I'll give you an Italian site that sells a doily:

You display here what appeals to me most: The higher end of precision IN practicallity, not the impracticality of the highest precision. (Though I don’t doubt that you have your way with microns too🙂)
Thank you very much Spirit, the quality of the operating machines very often makes the difference knowing how to place them, the challenge is working with precision without adequate tools

Nice one Maurizio. And thanks for the subtitles! Did you check the diameter before and after burnishing?
Thank you very much NBR, yes of course, almost a cent of crushing, but this depends on various factors, the type of metal and above all the quality of the preparation turning.
if the turning turns out rough, you will have to increase the crushing pressure and probably make 2 passes with poor results and unpredictable final measurements
@@Mauri59g material and preparation, makes sense. Thanks for replying Maurizio!

I want to create a roller that reaches into a 2.5 cm hole about 0.5 cm. Is this a possible tool idea? The inside cylinder of a one inch hole needs to be polished to a depth of 0.25 inches. I have some ideas and a spring actuated sphere that might work, I just need to mount it and test the dimensions it can reach. Or create a new tool that does a better job and can do higher pressure.
Thanks Jeremy, it could be done.
try to take inspiration from this one I did, by eliminating the bearing it could be made very thin.

Interesting. Thanks. I see someone else makes use of old beer cans like me.
Thank you very much Greg , yes cans but without beer, empty, and they work wonderfully
Beautiful tool and result.
What is the change in size and hardness of say 4140?
Thank you very much Carl , it depends on the steel hardness, but above all on the preparation finishing / turning.
if the turning is good, with medium HRC 40 steel a scaling from 0.6 to 1 cent.
Perfect 👏👏👏
Thank you very much Kubilay
best of the best‼️
Thank you very much Ture, but the best is yet to come

Ciao Maury stavolta 3 domandine;
Buona Pasqua a te e tutti
Salve Maurizio!

congratualation for your job, is it possible to know which type of steel, which "cutting speed", which feed, which diameter and which diameter diminution for 0.1 mm taken, thank you.
Thank you very much Jacques.
cutting speed 106 M/min
Diameter 40mm
Advancement 0.20
material S355 unalloyed steel at 0.26% C
with a pressure of 0.05mm side, a compression of 1 cent but this depends a lot on the roughness of the preparation turning
Thank you very much for your answer, is your ball bearing a standard one or a cam follower?@@Mauri59g
CALIDAD DE TRABAJO SALUDOS DESDE EL SALVADOR

Nice!
Thank you Leonardo
che ti mette in contatto direttamente all’azienda costruttrice.
Hermosa Linda ❤❤❤❤
Muchas gracias Hot Facts
capisco grazie mille ottimi video...,?
Grazie!!!
prego
Veramente fatto bene!
