  • 1978 Ford F-250 Ranger XLT Crew Cab Short Bed 4x4 Classic Pickup. This truck to say is ultra rare is a understatement. Well preserved and we were told that it was a previously a California vehicle. The under carriage, floor pans, frame and bed supports reflect the non rusty background. Truck even has the crew cab emblems on the fenders that we have never even seen before but they appear factory. Truck is root beer over hugger orange two-tone paint, all aluminum and stainless trim is in place and intact, what looks like a 4 inch spring suspension lift front and rear has been added with proper steering components, 400 big block engine backed by C6 transmission, floor shift transfer case, factory AC and dealer installed cruise control kit. Truck comes with dual tanks and both tanks do operate and work properly even the fuel gauge as well. Extremely well preserved interior down to the wood grain appearing door panels, bench seats front and back,factory radio and even a non cracked dash. This truck is riding on a new set of 37 inch tires wrapped around typhoon weld style aluminum wheels. Truck has had a repaint at some point in his life and they are very very moderate areas where you can see in perfections due to the age (no they won’t show in a photo or we would post them). A few other mentionable items on this truck are Warn locking hubs on the solid axle eight lug front end, cab lights, tubular rear traction bars, headers with custom exhaust and Flowmaster muffler, camper special style bed tiedowns, chrome step bumper and even an original headliner that is not sagging. This truck overall is extremely hard to describe because they were not enough of them around to compare to but everyone we have allowed to look at this truck especially up on the rack during service and check over process looking at the undercarriage etc would consider it a 9 out of 10 obviously considering it is not a new vehicle and it is over 40 years old. Any additional photos or information contact 804-357-9768.

    It’s factory color! My truck looks identical except it’s a single cab Lariat! I recently seen another one of these crew cabs same color in town a few times. It’s such a killer color combo 😉

    True when your stroke the 351m you get 400cu cubic inches. I’ve down that plenty of times for sure. Favorite mpg/HP combo, RV cam, roller rockers, edelbrock intake, 750 carter (edelbrock) spread bore and my 78 bronco with 6 inch lift and 36 “ super swampers, Running 410 gears with Detroit locker got 21 mpg and 385 dyno’d real rear wheel HP of 385+ or -

      @sergeantmasson3669 Год назад

      Don O, far easier to bolt in a '68-'71 460 engine instead of wasting time/money on a Ford "335" series engine. Early 460 engines had 360 HP from the factory. They can be 400+ HP for very little money. Far better reliability/longevity as well. Ford "335" series engines were crap. Their mpg was horrible as well.

    Actually the 351m is not, and has never been referred to a “Modified” by Ford motor Co. It is also not a small block or a big block for that matter. Its always been a midsize , same as the 351c. The Windsor is the small block 351. Trucks also came with the 390 earlier and the venerable 460. The only thing you need to garner the extra 49 cubic inches is to use a 400 crank. If you stroke your 351m no one will see the difference unless they tear it down and measure the stroke length per of each cyl. Of all the Broncos and F150’s I’ve rebuilt I have never some across BB motor mounts or a bb bell housing either. Maybe your thinking of chevys. Lol

    • @sergeantmasson3669
      @sergeantmasson3669 Год назад

      Don O, Ford never put a 390 in any 4x4 truck. 400 and 460 bell housings interchange. 460 motor mounts bolt right into a '78-'79 Bronco. I've built several '78-'79 460 Ford Broncos over the years. My '78 car carried was a former F350 2wd Supercab p/u truck that had a 400 engine and New Process "granny gear" 4 speed. I got rid of the 400 engine and installed a built 1970 460 engine from a Lincoln. Same bellhousing as the 400 engine, but with a 1/2 inch spacer. A/T, exact same bellhousing. It's rear frame came from a factory Ford F350 2wd rack body truck. 8 1/2 " frame whereas the '78 p/u had 8" frame. It was simple to convert it to a car carrier with a 19' Chevron car-carrier body.

    Way more than a 4 inch lift. That’s a 351m, not a BB. Could be 400 if stroked.

    • @ericreimer6627
      @ericreimer6627 3 года назад +1

      Modified is technically a small block, but used big block motor mounts and bellhousing. The 351/400 are the same externally, the only way to tell them apart if the valve cover decal is gone is to measure the stroke.

      @@ericreimer6627 FALSE. All "335" series engines are medium/mid-sized blocks. All used the same motor mounts. BBF uses different motor mounts, PUTZ.

      Sorry but you’re wrong @martyluther4224 For 1978, Custom or base level trim package trucks received round headlights, on higher-trim-package models, such as Lariat and Ranger in 1978 received square headlights and square became standard equipment for 1979 except for some fleet vehicles. Square headlights I don't think it's a '78. My dad bought a '78 1 ton new, came with round headlights. I bought a '79 1/2 ton a year later had Square headlights. That is the only difference that I know for the 1978 and 79 models.
