Wow... This was so good. The table really became a lively one. I love the colors you chose for the table. Inspired from your DIY, I tried the same on my dining table and chairs. It didn't turn out to be so pretty. I will next try this on my wooden bed.
Hi Dhivya, I see that it has been over an year that you did this DIY...the final result is awesome..am going to start something like this...could you please let me know the quality of this chalk paint...i mean after an year, whether your table looks still the same..i heard that few chalk paints chip off after few months..thanks in advance
Hey! Mine is still looking the same. Also this just a corner table in my house and is not used very heavily and almost never comes in contact with water. So as of now the sealers I’ve used seem to be doing a good job of protecting it.
Hi I have an old dressing table which made of wood but a glossy sheet is there in front where we keep our stuffs so my question is can we do chalk paint on that glossy sheet as well? Sorry I dnt know the name of that thing but in old days almost all dressing tables had that white glossy thing in front.
I think I know what you are referring to. I don’t know the name either 😬 if it’s going to be a table you use heavily, I would suggest to prime it and then use the chalk paint over it.
Amazing!! Could you pls suggest if chalk paint can be applied to laminate or any mica products and plyboards kinda? This is the first time I am watching this video and your you tube handle, hence unsure if you have already mentioned in any of your vidoes..thanks
Thank you!! I have applied chalk paint to my laminated table too. You can check it that video too. It really depends on how smooth Ur surface is. If it's really smooth u may need to either sand or apply a primer to be safe.
I have used I craft chalk paint for my stool. Is it mandatory to varnish after chalk painting? We use the stool for kitchen where most times water also falls on it.
Hi should we wait for the 1st coat to dry ?? To apply 2nd coat or how and am planning to do this on my dressing table .guess mirror with wood can I do and how about varnishing it
Yes you need to make sure the earlier coat is dry before applying the next coat. Definitely will work on wood👍🏽 u can use lacquer or varnish to seal the surface which is used a lot like the top surface. Remaining u can seal with wax. Do share the completed picture with me on email or Instagram ❤️
Heyy, loved the video!! Can you tell how much time did you take between each coat and shld we wait for the paint to dry up completely before applying varnish
I used a little under 50ml. Chalk paint is really easy to work with and if something goes wrong or u don't like the colour u can just repaint it. It's that easy!! Give it a try😃..make sure u share ur creation with me on Instagram. I would love to see❤️
If u want a Matt finish u can use Matt lacquer or even wax. I prefer the wax finish but for surfaces that's going to be used a lot and may come in contact with water it better to seal with lacquer or varnish. If u don't seal ur furniture, it could wear off the paint or cause scratches.
Both are sealers but they give a different finish. I love the wax finish the best but if ur surface is going to be used a lot it's best to seal it with something more water resistant. Varnish can look glossy and u may lose the chalky look of chalk paints. I prefer using lacquer for such surfaces
Hi, thanks a lot for this video. That end-table looks really nice! And I love that combo of teal-blue and yellow! :) And I've questions. Is that varnish water-based or is it oil-based? If it's the latter, is it holding up well as chalk paint is water based? I went to the local hardware shop to buy it and they gave me the oil-based version saying the water-based one is no longer available. I haven't used it yet as I don't know if it will affect the color of the paint.
Thankyouu🤗 the varnish not water based. Its doing well so far on both my tables. The key is to use a really thin layer in a single stroke. I did not notice any discoloration to the chalk paint. U can try testing it out on the inner edges of ur furnitur. And hey don't forget to share it with me on instagram, I'd love to see what uve created 😊
@@DhivyaSahadevan Thanks Dhivya. I will try out the varnish this weekend on something I painted using homemade chalk paint. I would've bought the paint, but nobody makes the color I want. And the paint I made is nothing worth writing home about. So I guess there's no need for me to be so paranoid about testing out the varnish! :-/
It still left with the vintage look after destressing. If u have access to wax, that gives the best finish I think. But for surfaces which are going to be heavily used, u need to seal with lacquer or varnish.
Very well explained in easy language! Was checking various sites for chalk painting!
Found Yours to be most interesting n simple
Thanks 👍
appreciation for the confidence level while talking infront of cam! 😊
video was pretty well descriptive!
Thankyou!😊
Teal & pinkkkk will look more awesome!!

Wow.. it's a perfect work of makeover of old furniture.looks very nice after finishing.👌

The tip with sponge was great. What varnish hv you used? If we want to remove the colour from glass is it possible
I used Asian paints Matt varnish. U can wash off or just repaint over it as long as u haven sealed it
Nice maam what the price of chalk paint in amazon and mam varnish is Compelsary or not

nice work .. how long the paint stays?
Thankyou! If done well it doesn't go. My table still retains the paint.

Can you share a video in how to create a geometric pattern with chalk paint on furniture?

I’ve painted a table in assymetric geometric patterns using tape. Do check it out

Yes you should protect the paint with varnish/lacquer

Can it be done on iron almorah
Heyy, loved the video!! Can you tell how much time did you take between each coat and shld we wait for the paint to dry up completely before applying varnish
Thankyouu ❤️I used a 120 ml can of the teal blue. U need to wait until completely dry between each coat and to apply the varnish/sealer.
@@DhivyaSahadevan Great! thank youu
Thank you. Very well demonstrated.
Can I use this trick to board furniture?
I have not tried, but chalk paint works on almost all surfaces 👍🏽
Is chalk paint waterproof ? I have an outdoor garden stool ...that I want to paint.
It's not preferred for areas that will be in constant contact with water or outdoor furniture
hey.. how much paint did you use for that table? i am wanting to upcycle an old eyesoric almirah i have.. u kinda give me courage :)

I have old wooden box painted with oil paint. Can I use chalk colours on oil paint?
Interesting, I've never tried this. Try a patch test and see if the paint bleeds. If it does u may need to use a primer.
@@DhivyaSahadevan thank you Divya
Just curious..are you rubbing the paint in strokes or just dabbing with the sponge? The fast forward is confusing..
Oh sorry about that. I'm dabbing it with the sponge. This prevents stroke marks from appearing.
Lovely video thanks 😊 I also started coloring my shelf the way you have shown us into this video 👍🏻
❤️ I'd love to see ☺️
Amazing! Good work! Loved it.
Hi! Can you pls share the details of sandpaper?
I think sandpaper no 120 or something near 180 would be nice
It can be use for plastic chairs.please reply
Yes.. but not for items which will be used outdoor
looks so elegant !
Very well done and elaborated video.
Nice video.
Can chalk paint be applied on any surface ? And is it water proof?
Yes we can. It's water proof but u need to use a sealer as top coat to protect the paint from chipping
Can it be done on outside/balcony furniture too?
Hello .. please tell me whats the difference between wax and Varnish ? Thanks in advance

@@DhivyaSahadevan thanks a tonne for clear cut explaination. Appreciate it !
Doesn't the paint peel off or go off when scratched?what happens if water falls on it?
No it doesn’t. Water does not damage it either as long as you have sealed the paint.
Where did u buy the paint

@@umbrellajune true that😁
How much paint did it take to cover the entire table? I mean the quantity?
I needed only 50 ml of the teal blue. The yellow much much lesser.
Amazing👍👍
How to fill little holes on table before painting
If you do have holes, depending on size u may need to use a primer or wood filler
Doesn't it loose its chalky look if you apply varnish on it? What's the point of using chalk paint then🤔

Does chalk paint work on metal ?
Yes it works for all surfaces n that's makes it really easy to use. But depending on how smooth the surface is u may not be able to distress it.
Amazing....👍
