    Gene wasn't giving the kid a lesson on how to play the drums, he was directing the kid on how the song is supposed to be played. it was playful, funny, and awesome because the kid did good. that kid will always cherish that time he played with Gene Simmons and even got some pointers. just awesome.

      Absolutely.
      I was a drummer for 14 years and you need to know the exact stop point and wait and time it out and still stay in rhythm.
      That's exactly what Gene was teaching the kid and they did a phenomenal job and this kid will remember that for the rest of his life!
      Kudos to all involved! :-)

    I’m 19 and I’m a drummer, got to play a few songs in my dads bands throughout my life. I can tell you playing on someone else’s kit, ESPECIALLY the first time and only once, it doesn’t feel right or natural. The kid did great, he’s a natural.

    • @davidcudlip6587
      @davidcudlip6587 2 года назад +3

      Word. It took me days to set my kit up til it felt right. Couldn't imagine stepping up to a strange kit and ripping into a song.

      I covered for my cousin on his kit when he smashed his knuckle. My kit was in the repair shop. Fucked up the opening song. We had an almost identical set up. But it juuuuuuuuust didn't feel right when I got on his. I had to harmonize with the band for a bit until I got the hang of it. This kid did pretty good on a kit that ain't his.

    At 13 years old I played Gene in a school talent show singing Christine Sixteen. As a young man KISS brought a lot of joy into my life with their image & music. In the 70s & 80s we had true
    ROCK N ROLL. Todays kids just don't have that. Makes me feel sorry for teenagers these days. I couldn't even imagine my childhood without ROCK N ROLL.

      We let an unknown, unheard 17 year old kid in the back door of a bar one night and let him play with the band. He had his sticks with him so that told me he played all the time and might be pretty good. After hearing about 20 seconds I knew it was going to be fun. He played like Alex Van Halen and knew most of the stuff we did. Ronnie joined the band 2 years later (at 19) and we used him for the Water Boy during the Wet T-Shirt contest's. We raised him right!

      Most bands do this now, let fans play at a show, they never used to do this because back in the 70's and 80's there were some fans who were far better than the pro musicians and you could hear it, now, the bands want to promote any musician that wants to try.

    If this is/was actually authentic? Congratz to Gene and the band for allowing someone to live the dream for a few moments!

      Ah its not really pressure being in front of a big crowd. You just do your job behind the kit and move on and have a shit ton of fun doing it

    Kid nailed it and Gene enjoyed stopping the song and making it fun with a bit of comedy.

    I kinda wish KISS concerts were like this now. No makeup, more laidback.
