Good demo! Nice to see them side by side. This is what I love about your videos - you actually show items side by side, talk about differences, so viewer gets a good visual understanding of the item discussed. Very useful. Your delivery style is also very soothing, thank you so much!!!
    Some feedback for others:
    1. Don't measure wattage of incandescent bulb (INC) vs LED bulb. INC bulb is always higher wattage (consumes more power) than LED bulb.
    2. Measure Lumens of each. Lumens is the light output of any bulb - how bright it is.. You can compare the Lumens rating of an INC bulb vs an LED bulb and if they are the same then your light output will be same.
    3. In this demo you can see that 2 INC bulbs usen 2.40 amps, and 2 LED bulbs use 0.25 amps, so LED is 90% less power than INC bulbs! Pretty substantial.
    4. Also note that LED comes in 3 white light shades: warm white, soft white, and bright white. First two are like the ICN bulbs, soft yellowish glow. I bought Bright White and they are like industrial white lights - good for surgery, but not pleasing, esp on your face in the mirror!
    5. Walmart had some good prices on 12V LED bulb packs for my RV Pancake ceiling mounted fixtures.
    6. IKEA has great prices on LED AC lights for your house, but be sure to check Lumens as some can be intentionally dim for night stand lamps, etc. Prices were $3 and $5 per bulb!

Wow! Great video! I just got a motorhome, and the previous owner changed 4 of the 7 lights for led, but I still have 3 incandescent ones. This will be way more cheap than changing the whole thing.
    Thank you!!😊

The bulb replacements in the video were purchased on Amazon for about $6 each. I needed 18 of those so I went cheap. I've also ordered other LED replacement bulbs from SuperBrightLEDs (dot com). Thanks for watching.

Thank you.I think I'll give them a try.I have a slide-in camper & do a lot of backcountry camping.I have two deep cycle batteries (one in the camper & one under the hood ) linked in parallel,& a solar panel.
This setup works pretty well, but I'm always looking for ways to increase my loitering time in the high lonesome country.

As a test I tried an led and left it on while the camper was stored. Two weeks later it was still on and the battery was still holding. I was using standard 18w bulbs and have now replaced them all with 1w leds. I can now run every light in the camper using the same power as using one standard lamp.

You do know LED have alot of problems... but people are blind by only the 1 watt or 7 watt.... a incandescent problem is just heat and there is no problem with heat

Good video, I've played with LED lights and its hard to choose which color and brightness. The super bright white actually look a little blue in the RV. We ended up with the warm white for the inside of the RV and the super white for the outside. It seems to be the closest thing to the color of the incandescent bulbs.

I had led lights in our last toy hauler, they worked great. We do a lot of dry camping in the desert. With our solar panels, inverter and these I rarely start the generator.

I don't know the lumans for those bulbs, but I do think they are warm white lamps. I've been using them for a while now and they are very comparable to the incandescent bulbs I replaced.

So far the solar panel is working out great. Much of time I keep it parked at home just running off of solar and batteries. I still haven't had the opportunity to do any real boondocking with it.

The Incandecent lamp had a 360 degree light angle thus using the back lens. The LED's do not emit light toward the back, but only toward the defuser. I feel the LED's are better using battery power.

Another great advantage to Led is that you can order real daylight spectrum bulbs not the Walmart 5500 k but the 6500 k is better ,they give you a better color and provide a healthy natural spectrum.

and look now at the options available this many years later. you can get very powerful ones. yes they draw more like the old, but you can enjoy more light and heck, just turn 1 side on if you like. Don't know what you paid back then, but you can get a pack of 10 for $13 now of the powerful ones.

Let's forgo the issue of brightness, which is considerable: What isn't mentioned here is the cost of the LED replacement bulbs. I use my RV for recreational camping and seldom have run into power issues, even when boon-docking. Why exactly would I want to change a dollar light bulb with a LED replacement that's going to cost me upwards of $20 bucks? The cost differential just doesn't yet make sense.

  • @AnimaxRex
    @AnimaxRex 10 лет назад +2

Incandescent bulb 1x = 1.19A=14.28W 2x = 2.40A=28.8W LED bulb 1x 0.13A=1.56W 2x =0.25A=3W so 10 led bulbs use 15.6W and 1 Incandescent bulb uses 14.28w, LED lights are awesom perhaps not the brightest but 10 of them versus 1 and they become quite bright

If that's full voltage, it's NOT the same amount of light, not even close. The incan bulb fills the entire fixture, the LED fixture is much dimmer.

queenofspadz DC positive source to positive, red lead of multimeter to negative of light. Negative lead of multimeter to negative DC source. Essentially wired in series. Set multimeter to DC current.
