"The film is about humanity," producer Marcell Gerő tells of 'Natural Light', a harrowing Hungarian drama that follows the life of a simple farmer as he wrestles with an inner struggle after witnessing a murder. Set against the backdrop of occupied Soviet Union during World War II, the film is part of #GFF21’s ‘Official Selection Out of Competition’ and arrives at #ElGounaFilmFestival on the back of director Dénes Nagy winning the Silver Berlin Bear.
We sat down with Gerő and the film’s DOP Tamás Dobos to dig deeper into a rich piece of filmmaking that is just as much about human nature and moral ambiguity, as it is about the ravages of war.
