Very helpful as always Kirsty! Frustration tolerance can be used to describe our ability to handle any feelings/sensations that we don’t like. I mostly find it complicated to understand the underlying irrational beliefs that are fuelling something. So I just try to go through the frustration while doing things that matter to me. This is the ACT approach.
i can relate to this so much thanks Kirsty you are really helping in my recovery!
This was so very helpful. Really resonated with this.
This actually hit me hard this past weekend going out to a club.. it was a very stressful situation and feeling more and more anxious with the amount of people being that close and not being able to communicate due to extremely loud music I just snapped. My wife pointed this out and told me about low frustration tolerance. I’m my life it has effected every aspect of life, work, relationships and everyday tasks.
The fixed mindset can almost cause hallucinations if you think about it. It convinces you of things that aren't true but you will make it real.
Thanks for this. I keep getting the backdoor spike and it keeps tripping me up.
Same for me
