Te Waikoropupū Springs are the largest freshwater springs in New Zealand, the largest cold water springs in the Southern Hemisphere and contain some of the clearest water ever measured.
Te Waikoropupu Springs (known as Pupu Springs), discharge 14,000 litres of water per second.
The qualities of the water from Te Waikoropupu Springs are of considerable scientific interest. In 1993, The National Institute for Water and Atmosphere (NIWA) carried out optical measurements under water and found that the visibility was 63 metres.
This is very close to optically pure water, with clearer water found only beneath Antarctica’s near-frozen Weddell Sea. The water clarity is a result of natural filtering prior to the water’s emergence at Te Waikoropupu Springs.
That is absolutely beautiful! Truly stunning!!!
This is Beautiful.
So beautiful from above!
Hi Marty, I lived in GB in the early 90's. Ratrap was still there as was the Globe. Pupu Springs was just a jetty and yes i did jump in b4 the rules changed. 10.8°C from memory, I didn't stay in very long. Beeping Freezing even on a 30° day....
BTW what is your drone? DJI P4?
nice vid, a great way to see the springs,,, awesome place to visit.. havent been there for a few years
Truly beautiful.
Thank you.
lived over that side of The Hill, for many years off n on. Worked fishing boats out of Waitapu. Also worked in Puponga coal mine when it caved in. many years back, the locals judged your mentality, by how many years you'd lived on that side of the hill... true. ;)
New Zealand casually stealing all the coolest places for itself...
_"I'll have that, and that as well, and also this one thank you, and this, this and this too, seeya, oh let me also grab this one before I go and you won't need this either... luv y'all bb"_
Ever been to Florida?
This is AMAZING ‼️
Beautiful😀
First I went over the Takaka hill I thought I was going to die.
It’s name is Te Waikoropupu Springs
This made me thirsty!
Nice.
Wow that's beyond beautiful, it took a" second" for me to understand what I was seeing. Is that a drone doing the filming? Love the background noises. Thanks man!
I Visyed here a few years back wish i had my phantom with me :) great footage
Beautiful!!!!!!
Amazing footage... Is that water drinkable?
yes and no you used to be able to swim and drink but now you can barley touch it because of all the barrers and signs prohibiting you to
@@levib6596 Not because of the barriers and signs, but because the Māori spirituality of the place is now officially recognised, after decades of being trampled on. You can't "barely" touch it, you may not touch it at all.
Some things are more important than individual whims of the moment.
is this water drinkable and cold?!
i am currently fasting...
Yup it is
@@qwertfidnchdhdhxhxhd3616 too late I think he died from thirst.
0:13 looks like California's Pacific coast hills
Can you swim there?
Not sure if its allowed these days, it is extremely cold water coming from the mountain, not pleasant to swim in
I have been there
Hi Marty, my name is Josh. I run the channel Joshua Johnson Outdoors (and I live in ChCh). I've discovered a youtube channel (Be Amazed) that has used some of your video, in their own. They did this to my video for Blue Lake as well (without permission). So far, their video has almost 3 million views. Could we perhaps communicate about this? Thank you very much.
ps - here is the link: ruclips.net/video/nkezeUzXhIg/видео.html
Thanks Josh I'll look into it. You could file a DMCA take down request
@@MartyT hi there, thanks for the quick reply. I've initiated a copyright claim, but am just making sure I have all my details correct. Channels like these I've noticed tend to just take other creator's content, conglomerate it, put a few graphics in and voiceover, then publish as their own. I think it might be a bit of a grey area, but regardless, it feels pretty unjust that they profit so handsomely, off of what is likely a lot of stolen content.
It is the wild west, they will claim fair use but you can at least try to take it down and then negotiate a fair fee for the use of your clip, I find most of them will accept $200USD to release the claim.

Pu
Poopoo springs. That’s amusing.
Swimming not permitted due to chance of PeePee in the PUpu.
Te Waikoropupū Springs shortened to pupu for lazy people
Te Waikoropupū was declared a waahi tapu (sacred place) in 2005. It was quite improper to fly a drone over it (what if it had fallen into the water?) and bloody annoying to people there enjoying the sounds of the water and birds. If you have monetized this page, so much the worse. Shame on you!
Get over it, this is old footage
