It is so wonderful to see such a well-informed interviewer. Brian Linhane was one of the best!!!
He is missed. Truly one of a kind!!

I've been a fan of Steve Martin's for over 40 years. I've seen multiple interviews and appearances on talk shows, and this is the only one I've seen in which he seemed closest to himself. Well who the heck knows what he is like really, but he is not on, he is not playing a character.
What a double-edged sword it must be to be a comedian. Yoda says going down the dark path will forever dominate your destiny, but what about making people laugh? If you somehow are talented enough to make a living being a comedian, I'm sure in many ways it must be terrific. At least one of the ways it must suck is if you start to become known as a comedian, then people must always expect you to make them laugh.
It was cool to see Steve Martin for once not feeling the need to respond to the pressure of comedic expectations

I ❤ Steve Martin. I remember when he was on SNL, I didn't like the movies Pennies from heaven. Or Novacane. But I ❤ all of me. House sitter, the jerk. The lonely guy, to name a few. I really like the novella shop girl & the movie it was based on. He can play dramatic roles just as well as can comedic roles. He's man of many hats, & he wears them all very well.

12:34 - Steve Martin is actually taller than Elvis. It's funny how memory works, especially when you're in awe of someone.

Larry hubbard In the lonely guy was much more down to earth. The movie was out there & kinda wacky. But that was its appeal. Back then Hollywood had an imagination. I don't what happened. The character was someone I think alot of people could relate too. Even women. .there are top 5 Steve martin movies I like . And the loney guy is in that list.

No offense to Steve martin its hard to think of a lawyer as normal guy. Yeah maybe if the "normal" guy made lying a career & embellishing to get criminals off. Don't get me wrong all of me was probably one his best films. But when I think of a normal a lawyer is last person that comes to mind. With all do respect to Mr martin.

It's so sad that Pennies from Heaven was only a flop because people were expecting a Steve Martin comedy.
