Beautiful interview. I love hearing the wisdom from our elders. Interesting that in my experience most people don’t have many bad things to say about Trujillo. My great grandmother is 100 years in DR and she still smokes tobacco every day. But I’m embarrassed to ask her about her life because I feel like it’s rude asking her so many questions. It would be dope if I made a video like this as well.

I love your abuelo! I love our elders in general. He looks fantastic for 98 yrs old; could easily believe he was in his 70s. He is radiant because he loves God, expresses gratitude, is humble and wise. You are blessed to have him still in your life! Blessings to your family.

Steve Wonder once sang that "love is in need of love today" ... and if I may add my little two-cents I would say "love is in need of love today and every day as it forever seeks grander expression of itself" ,,, the slavery broke some people and made them bitter because it was such an impossible experience, however, there were many people who came through slavery w/ greater spiritual growth and understanding and a sense of triumph. And just as the hand of Yahweh was on Israelites, the hand of the Providence was on African slaves, in spirit, lest they face it alone w/o the Comforter and lose their way ... they sang gospel and held onto their humanity and spirituality and encouraged each other to "keep on the good keeping on'", no matter what the difficulty, pain, and negativity ... it is said the whole purpose of our existence in this life experience is to affirm through our thoughts and actions who we really actually are in eternity. and so unless you are faced with the challenge of what that is not - the opposite, how can you achieve the "full ownership of knowing" w/o a stitch of doubt, that you are one with the "universal goodness/love" as the One had willed it for all his children ... and so when so many emerged unbroken and had gained greater joy and humanity as their hard-earned spiritual victory, there was great rejoicing in heaven that love/the light had once more emerged triumphant over the darkness! Btw, was it not said in the Good Book that the very stones that they have rejected as unworthy, I will use them as my foundation stone - for the eternal Kingdom!
