If you want to be moved in a very different way by Dan, you must see his cover of The Music of the Night from Phantom of the Opera! He literally is the best Phantom I have ever seen!! It’s jaw dropping!! One of my favorite Dan performances and shows that he can sing anything!! Hope you have an epic day!!

The song is driven home by Dan because you can hear the words with emotional intent and it drives it home.
You have spoken what so VERY many of us have felt and have also spoken since at least this past April, when Dan posted Amazing Grace. I had (six months ago) never heard this song before, and I put off listening to it, until it was one of the last few I hadn't yet watched. Then I cried my way through it, once I realized what it was.
Listening to it, here, a few minutes ago, I kept thinking that the number 2023 could easily be substituted for 2018. Dan should do a current remake!
Then I was thinking of the video I saw a couple of hours ago, showing some elite college students (100s of the students) having "die-ins" as protests, not against HAMAS, but against Israel. What's in their heads?!?!

He breathes new life into an already amazing song, about the futility of terrorism and war. Sadly, Very much needed now as it was 1993.
I feel like there has been a continuous need for this reminder my entire life 😢
I first heard The Cranberries perform this back in the 90s, and I love this cover! I have a not unbiased view of the "conflict" (terrorism) in NI as the son (and grandson) of former British Army paratroopers. My Dad utterly despised the terrorists (of any faction) who murdered civilians while being quite happy to claim the dole and participate in democracy. He felt that Catholics in the North had had some justification for their protests in the late 60s and the Stormont government in Ulster had been absurdly racist. He also felt that all the terrorist groups in NI while he was there were terrified that the US style Civil Rights movement would succeed and render the terrorists irrelevant. He felt very strongly that the terrorists were criminal psychopaths who didn't care about the "cause" the espoused. Anywhere else they still would have been violent criminals. He loved the Cranberries version of this song!

Dan always pours his soul out in every song he covers!!! I love this song for many reasons and Bad Wolves did a good job with it BUT I miss HER keening in the song. The sorrowful keening brought the song to another level. That being said, Dan made this a fantastic cover!
It helps to remember that she was on her way to re-record this song with Bad Wolves when she was killed in that car accident. The Bad Wolves honored her by recording it for her, as she dreamt. Dan honors both her & them. And us too.
IRON is another one of his pertinent to today covers.
I love the way he kept true to Bad Wolves cover of this song, yet gave it the power that only a firmly convicted belief system could ever hope to convey.
